Coming Soon: updated Demo for Steam Next Fest!
Hey everyone, we have big news today: Horses of Hoofprint Bay will be participating in Steam Next Fest (Oct 19-26) with an updated Demo! What you need to know: 1️⃣The October Demo will remain limited to 25 days of playtime. 2️⃣The October Demo will more closely represent the first 25 days of the “actual” game: Due to the rebalancing we’ve done, that means you will start with a horse that has much lower stats, and you will most likely not be able to progress quite so far. 3️⃣The October Demo will contain various new features such as walking your horse (with/without foals), Caprilli tests, new Trail ride environments, desensitization training, face markings and appaloosa patterns. 4️⃣Because the new Demo contains all the changes made to the game in the past months, save games from the October Demo WILL be compatible with the full game upon release. Save games from the February Demo will NOT be made compatible. 5️⃣The February Demo will stay available on a separate Steam branch. You will remain able to access and play it by switching branches on Steam: Once the new Demo is out, trght-click on the game in your library and select Properties. Select Game Versions and Betas and then select February Demo to access the old Demo. 6️⃣The Demo (February and October) will stay available after the full game releases, so anyone hesitant to buy can still get a taste of the game before purchasing. The Steam Next Fest is an important way for us to reach more people before release. Our visibility in the Festival will depend on the game’s performance during the first 1-2 days (how many people play it and for how long), so we invite everyone to spend some time playing the updated October Demo when the festival begins, to help us get more visibility! Greetings, Heroes! Since the reveal of Heroes of Might and Magic III Remake, we’ve received a large amount of passionate and varied feedback. It helps us to see what matters most to the community. Our goal is to balance that feedback with a clear vision for the remake and a development plan that allows us to deliver the best possible experience. Our Plan for the Coming Months To make sure we give every major topic the depth and attention it deserves —and to thoroughly evaluate your ideas within our actual dev framework, our communication will follow two main tracks over the coming months: 4 Feature Cycles: Structured focus periods where we dive deep into key Heroes of Might and Magic III Remake features, systems and design frameworks. A Continuous Faction & Art Track: Running alongside those cycles, this parallel track will focus on faction reveals, visual direction, dedicated faction videos, and art-focused developer blogs. This approach will allow us to share our design vision, listen closely to your feedback, and regularly report back on the evaluated insights and progress. Cycle 1: Playstyles Since our reveal, one of the most animated discussions in the community has been classic charm versus a modernized experience. To accommodate these differing preferences, we are exploring the "Playstyles" system. Playstyles offers a flexible framework that allows you to adjust key elements—such as object scale, color and lighting, and UI/UX design—influencing the overall atmosphere and feel, so you can enjoy the remake in the style that suits you best. Welcome back to the Command Post.Since our last Community Feedback update, Update 1.5 has arrived, bringing the officially licensed Bell UH-1 Iroquois ‘Huey’, the M14 and Type 56 SKS, our first weapon balancing pass and 100+ fixes and improvements.This was followed by Hotfix 1.5.1, which introduced further improvements to ADS visual stability, mounted weapons, UI, and controller haptics for the M14 and SKS.We’ve been closely following your feedback throughout the first week of Update 1.5, and have been pleased to see the positivity around the new weapons and the Huey Radio in particular, and that the M16 ammunition changes have also been welcomed as a direct response to previous community feedback.Alongside that feedback, we’re continuing to investigate several of the issues you’ve been reporting, including spawning and deployment failures, audio reliability, crashes, Server Browser visibility and visual quality.Here’s where things currently stand.Spawn & Deployment IssuesWe have see your reports surround spawn and deployment issues, including HQ spawn points disappearing, Garrisons and Outposts becoming unavailable, and some players being unable to select or place spawn points.Following investigation, the team believes it has identified an issue within the game’s replication system that could be contributing to several of these behaviours, and are working on fixes including one we’re hoping will be added into our next Hotfix 1.5.2.In some circumstances, certain information was not being correctly cleared when a match ended. Over multiple matches, this could increase the likelihood of elements failing to replicate correctly, including HQ spawn points and potentially other objects within the environment.A fix has now been implemented internally and is undergoing QA verification. We also set up a desk workspace framed by a backdrop of a giant window view to welcome our players—complete with a chair styled slightly after Satone.On vertical monitors, visitors could watch Satone and Shioi working, allowing them to work side-by-side with the characters. We thought, "Everyone will be so happy to work alongside both of them!"—though we noticed quite a few visitors seemed pretty nervous.Some people were even heard making excuses to Satone, saying things like, "I-I swear this isn't cheating!..."At the desk, visitors could leave notes and messages in a notebook and on sticky pads. Hello everyone! I've gotten a lot of good feedback on Legends of Azamar in the last week, and right now I'm thinking about the next direction of the game. One thing that has come up a few times is game pacing. So, I'd be interested in hearing what you all thinkHow do you feel about the current pacing of the game? Specifically, how long it takes to progress through a floor and reach a new environment (for example, going from the Frozen Halls to the Abandoned Halls)Do you feel the current floors are too long, too short, or about right?I am considering a change to make each floor shorter (lowering the current 14 depths per floor) so you get to experience a new area and new enemies sooner. However, in order to keep the current length of the game, that would involve adding additional floors at the end. These would be higher-level revisits of existing floors, such as the Frozen Halls and Abandoned Halls, rather than completely new environments. They would use the same tilesets and enemies, with additional variations planned for future updatesCreating completely unique floors would take significantly more development time (To be clear, in the future, I still plan to add new and unique floors), but this is one approach I'm considering to improve the pacing while keeping things manageableSo, how would you feel about this? Demo for Steam Fest
I am preparing the demo to have the deck builder and single CPU battle. I am still ironing out some bugs, mostly visual hick-ups and Steam Deck readability. Started the translation CSV. I am hoping to have Spanish and Russian done in time for the demo. My Spanish and Russian are both rusty, and the word order (and declinations) will probably be wrong. I may have the P2P battles somewhat ready. It uses Steam Lobbies and I have tested it on two separate accounts using my Windows PC and the Steam Deck (Linux build). I do not have a Mac. The adventure mode will most likely not be ready by demo time. It does function as a rogue-like, but not the rogue-lite I intend it to be. I have touched up a lot of the card art, many of which were using stand-in art I threw together. I have not used AI for any of it, and do not want to. Right now, the CPU opponent is utilizing the cards, but not necessarily strategizing. It has a priority order of use.
