Triarchy is now Keelblade!
When development began, Triarchy fit the game perfectly. The world was ruled by three powerful leaders, the main quest centered on hunting down three major bosses, and online co-op supported up to three players. But the game hasn't stayed that way.Early playtests showed us that players were enjoying the combat and boss fights, and they wanted an even greater adventure with more exploration and discovery. So we rebuilt the world as an open archipelago and introduced a ship for players to make their own as they sail to discover new islands.Through our monthly playtests your feedback has helped shape the game by letting us know what worked, and importantly what didn't. This has brought big changes to Keelblade, like expanding the game to support crews of 1-6 players, and many of the features for sailing and ship building. Thank you for playtesting, providing us with your feedback and bug reports, and letting us know what you wanted more of. Keelblade would not be the game it is today without you.One of the biggest updates is when we introduced ship building. Some of you built tasteful sailing vessels. However, many of you correctly determined that subtlety is for people with smaller ships. We saw you all making the coolest builds for your ships. And when someone has a badass pirate ship, they're naturally going to want to become the biggest, baddest pirate to go with it.So, somewhere between the giant sailing ships, treasure hunts, and looting from Gribbles along the way, we began to suspect we were making a pirate game. With new dreams of becoming legendary pirates, we needed a new name to match. Keelblade better reflects the game today. Our unique mix of challenging souls-like combat, island exploration in a fantasy world, and the ship you build into the home for your pirate crew. It's also more than just the game's name. In the world of Keelblade, it's also a legendary title.A Keelblade is a pirate who has risen above the rest. They have a mighty ship, a dangerous crew...Read full article on Community Announcements (KingJackaL)AnnouncementsOfficial
Triarchy - A Bigger Boat Playtest
This playtest we finally get to add the finale for the demo - where you must captain a larger ship and defeat whatever that may attract...Already in the playtest? Invite your friends to play with you!Wishlist & Follow Triarchy to keep up to date with future playtests and news for the game. Tortuga VerdeA new island rises, full of life and home to the ever-enthusiastic Jum Jums. Alongside them lives the young Mossback, son of the legendary Tortoroxx. Despite his younger years (for his species, anyway), he's become famed as an industrious ship builder. You could sure do with one of those - but how would you gather the payment necessary for such a massive investment? Perhaps there's a favor you could offer him, fortune favors the bold, try asking… Multiple ShipsThere is now more than one ship you can sail in the game! Alongside this new ship we have added a mooring system, and you must moor your current ship in order to sail a different one. This mooring system manages a number of situations behind the scenes, and sets the foundation for allowing you to own multiple ships as you explore further into the world. There are a few locations in the world where you can moor your ship, including Mudley's Molehill.Shooting OnwardsEagle-eyed players will notice some menacing new mechanisms aboard this great ship. Giant Ballistae are a new type of weapon, mounted to the ship and used to defend it from gargantuan threats. I sure hope you don't happen across any of those in your adventures.…but if you are so unlucky, it'll advantage you to know that their mighty bolts are pretty heavy. So take care to keep your Ballistae loaded, even while under fire. Our focus is now forwards towards Steam Next Fest. Thank you to all of you who have played in our playtests and given us your feedback, you've helped shape the game into what it is now.Our next Playtest at the end of August (#9) will likely be the last playtest before Next Fest. Please note that the end of August Playtest (#9) will reset...Read full article on Community Announcements (KingJackaL)AnnouncementsOfficial
Triarchy - Wild Seas Playtest
This weekend we are introducing naval combat and threats on the sea.Already in the playtest? Invite your friends to play with you!Wishlist & Follow Triarchy to keep up to date with future playtests and news for the game.Ship Damage & Dynamic SeasNo more ploughing your ship straight into the shore of islands you're set to conquer. Your ship will now take damage from impacts, and even list heavily and partially sink if it takes enough damage. Thankfully there's now a handy Repair Station available to aid with minor patch-ups. Make sure you put a trustworthy captain on your helm. The challenge of helming the ship has gone up a notch. As the weather deteriorates and visibility drops, you have to deal with heavy seas. Don't underestimate the wrath of Calypsis!Rafts and FlotsamHow do Gribbles migrate between islands? A day of raft building, a pinch of seafaring skill, and a boat-load of luck. But they won't appreciate seeing your kind sailing up to them. Sail with a little more caution as you explore the world.Depending on your mood, you may not want to avoid those rafts. You can leap off your ship and board them with a paralysing plunge attack. Or even ram them with your ship. After all, you're bigger right? And if they do get the better of you and manage to sink your ship, look out for flotsam floating around. If you're stuck finding materials for repairs, salvaging flotsam could be just the ticket.Belts & Weapon SetsNavigating your consumable items can be tough when you're under pressure in combat. Especially if you're collecting all the things (we see you). But that's OK, because now there are belts! Pick what items you want to be available at a moments' notice, and add them to your belt for fast access. And speaking of fast access - have you ever been fishing or chopping trees down and suddenly found yourself ambushed? Or have you wished you had two different sets of weapons available in a boss fight for handling different situations? Well you're in luck! You can now eq...Read full article on Community Announcements (KingJackaL)AnnouncementsOfficial
Triarchy - Seafood Playtest
This weekend we're adding in some big new systems, even though they're still very early. Our vision is much larger than what's available right now. But we'd prefer to get them in your hands now, so we can start getting feedback. That's what playtesting is for, right?Already in the playtest? Invite your friends to play with you! Wishlist & Follow Triarchy to keep up to date with future playtests and news for the game. CookingAre you tired of Crunchy Seaweed and Tropical Nuts? Expand your palate with some Coconut Whiskerfish Cakes, Durian Nut Crumble, or Brinebeast Rolls. Make sure you've been paying attention when learning your recipes, or you'll have to settle for a Questionable Gruel again. There are dozens of new recipes available in Triarchy, so experiment widely at your Cooking Galley to discover them all. You'll also find a variety of new ingredients around the world. Or if you're dishonorable, Mudley's garden sure does look nice… Wanting to try the Pufferfish Delicacy? Maybe craving some homely Brinebeast Rolls? Be sure to upgrade your Cooking Galley with a Cooking Pot for more complex dishes.FishingI like Whiskerfish as much as the next aspiring adventurer, but there's plenty more fish in the sea now. Build your own rod and find a scenic spot from which to cast your line. This adds a variety of new food options, though it's just an initial taster for the full vision we have for fishing. In future we plan to add a mini-game and lots more options to fishing, but while that's all still cooking, we want to get the core system out for you to play. How do you think the mini-game should work?Combat Change: PoiseThe Poise system has had a major overhaul. You now Daze enemies when you exhaust their poise. And if you hit them hard enough while Dazed, you can Stagger them, extending the window during which they're vulnerable. The new Dazed state has new animations and VFX. With a few notable exceptions, such as some larger bosses that can't be Dazed or Staggered. These ...Read full article on Community Announcements (KingJackaL)
