Privacy Policy
Last updated: 16 August 2026 (draft)
GeekyAlien ("we", "us") operates geekyalien.uk. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why, and what choices you have. It is written to be understandable — including if you're under 18, since some of our content covers games rated for a general audience.
What we collect
Right now, in early development, the site does not have user accounts, newsletters, or ad tracking switched on. Once those launch, this section will list exactly what each feature collects (see the Cookie Policy for the current state of cookies/analytics).
- Contact form: if you email us or use a contact form, we keep your message and email address only to respond to you.
- Basic server logs: standard web server logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited) kept briefly for security and debugging.
Third parties who may process data on our behalf
We don't sell your data. Our current data processor:
- Hetzner Online GmbH (Germany) — hosts the server this site runs on, so it processes the server logs and any data the site stores (including contact-form messages) as our hosting provider. See Hetzner's privacy policy.
As further features launch (analytics, error tracking, transactional email), each additional provider will be added here with a link to their own privacy policy, per our internal register of data processors.
International data transfers
We're UK-based, and this policy is written to cover both UK GDPR and EU GDPR, since the site gets visitors from the EU as well as the UK. Hetzner (above) is based in Germany, within the EEA — a transfer covered by adequacy regulations recognised under UK GDPR, so no additional safeguard (such as Standard Contractual Clauses) is required for that transfer. Where a future data processor we use is based outside the UK/EEA without an adequacy decision, we'll only use one where the transfer is covered by a recognised safeguard, such as Standard Contractual Clauses (or the UK's equivalent, the International Data Transfer Agreement/Addendum) — this section will name each one, and its transfer basis, as soon as it applies.
Your rights
You can ask us to:
- tell you what data we hold about you,
- correct it if it's wrong,
- delete it,
- send you a copy in a machine-readable format.
Email privacy@geekyalien.uk to make a request. This applies whether you're in the UK or the EU.
Children
We don't knowingly target children and don't build advertising profiles of visitors who haven't confirmed they're an adult.
Changes to this policy
We'll update the date at the top of this page when this policy changes.
