    August 27th - Minor Patch

OverviewSome bug fixes this time around. Mostly targeting long-time issues and recent performance inhibitors. Patch Notes for v0.20.1Missing Terrain on IslandsOn Arid, Headlands, and Shattered Shoals islands there would sometimes be missing terrain. This was causing a number of issues and has been a long running bug. Islands will now show the appropriate textures and collision. Safe to dock on and explore. We are SO excited to finally have this one sorted out!! It took us a long time and we are thankful for players reporting it and for everyone’s patience.Windmill Roof trapping playersA collision error with the roof of a windmill kept trapping players and their items. Now you are safe to jump around the roof at your leisure.Heron Airship SailsHeron airships had a “SailsActive” property to check if the sails were open or closed. Since they never close, this was an unnecessary check to be doing in the background so we removed the extra animator mesh. This should improve stability/performance! OnDockAirshipUnnecessary backend noise was being created. No longer! Crash in Voxel engineThis was a rare crash, but any crash fix is a good one!MiscellaneousBackend fixes involving new diagnostic tools for crash reports, Debug, and other technical fixes. Known Issues• Deckgun continues to play charging SFX if you try to shoot it with no Ammo• Heron Airship Deckgun has a missing string • “Create Planks to build a proper hull” hint is not going away after completing task•  Aetherscope and Aetherloom pop-up messages are confusing and not clear enough. • Some players reported longer world generation, we will be keeping an eye on this in the coming weeks. Short Term RoadmapSubject to change!V0.21.0 - Controller Support Please keep the feedback coming! What else would you like to see? The Wait Is Over - Tempest Weather Update is Here!

Hey Elysians! We are incredibly excited to finally welcome the release of the new Tempest Update, otherwise known as v0.20.0 which features Rain and Weather Systems! This update represents a major step forward for the game as it changes the way you approach your travel in Elysium, while also bringing general improvements and changes based directly from the feedback we received from you all.Rain now interacts directly with your ship and everything on it. Wet ship pieces and stored items gain weight and drag, certain stations can be inoperable if they're soaked through, and the world gets a moodier, rainy atmosphere to match. This introduces a new approach to your flight on the airship as you explore the world and need to make decisions on the fly on how to build and structure your airship to withstand these conditions! “Despite joining the development team here at Loric Games midway through V0.20.0's development, I feel a strong sense of pride and excitement for this update. I hit the ground running working to catch up on the teams goals for this update and what was needed to cross the finish line. The excitement and passion was palpable with ideas flowing throughout the process. We wanted this update to feel big and FUN. Part of that was leaning into the survival aspects of Echoes of Elysium. We wanted rain to be not only pretty and immersive, but another layer of challenge. Accruing wetness, ship pieces with varying coverage amounts, and added weight really push the need for thoughtful ship design and security. You don't want a leaky ship!We hope players have fun with this new update and can't wait to see their reactions!"-El, Jr Live-Ops ProducerIn addition to introducing weather systems, we’ve also added several new UI improvements that highlight key information about your airship. All these improvements will make interacting with the game’s systems feel more intuitive.Weight Indicators will show how much each component contributes to the ship’s total weightFuel In...

Elysian Report 2: A Sneak Peek at 20.0's UI Changes

Hey Elysians,Happy Saturday! We hope you’re all doing well! We’re back with another Elysian Report and this time we’re taking a closer look at the upcoming UI changes that will be released in the v0.20.0 Rain and Weather Systems update. To walk you through the changes, we sat down with our Lead World Designer, Mav, to discuss the thinking behind the new UI and how these improvements will make interacting with the game’s systems feel more intuitive. While these aren’t major changes on their own, together they have a meaningful impact on the overall player experience.Let’s dive in!We’ve added a new dedicated weight icon for airship pieces, making it easier to identify how much each piece contributes to your ship’s total weight. This icon matches the one displayed alongside the total weight indicator on the HUD in the lower right corner, creating a more consistent visual language across the interface. The iconography is still a work in progress, so the versions shown here are temporary placeholders until we refine the final designs. Currently, most stations and airship pieces have an assigned weight. A few pieces such as certain hull pieces, the helm, sails, and rudder do not have weight values yet, though that may change in time.Pallets will also now display the stored weight for haulables, making it easier to keep track of how they contribute to your airship’s overall weight. Unlike standard inventory items, haulables each have their own individual weight. For example, a single log weighs 25, so storing just three logs bumps the total to 75 already. As you continue loading pallets, that weight accumulates and directly contributes to your ship’s overall encumbrance, making cargo management a more important part of planning your journey.Since one of the major impacts of wetness is adding weight to the ship, we needed to make improvements to the Weight Bar in the Vehicle HUD to provide a breakdown of where your weight is coming from. The Weight Bar now has a few new seg...

Elysian Report 1: 20.0's Audio and Production, Controller Support Preview

Hey Elysians,We’re excited to introduce “Elysian Reports” - a new series designed to give you a behind-the-scenes look at our development process and sneak peeks at what we’re building between major patches. For our very first report today, we want to look at how a lot of moving pieces are coming together. From audio overhauls to a more streamlined production pipeline, we are setting the stage for a smooth 20.0 release. But before we dive into all of that, let’s kick things off by talking about what you’ve all been asking for lately: controller support. When it comes to the community’s most requested features, nothing tops the list quite like controller support. We know you’ve been eagerly waiting for this, and we truly appreciate your patience as we work through it. We wish we could just push a button and have it ready for you on day one, but the truth is, we aren’t holding it back just to make you wait - we’re taking our time because we are absolutely determined to get this first pass right. Implementing gamepads into a complex world like ours means reworking everything from basic movement to inventory menus, and we refuse to roll out a rushed, clunky version that frustrates our players. We want this first experience flying with a controller to feel completely natural and smooth to ensure the experience is as great as it is on PC, if not better - and that extra care takes a little time. Today, we’re exploring everything about controller support with our Executive Producer, Ray, who has been the main face behind controller integration! Why Controller Integration Takes TimeAt face value, controller support seems simple: you want to plug in your controller and run around with your character. But in an airship survival game, there are so many more mechanics that are taken into consideration - you’re gliding, swinging, jumping around, piloting massive airships, managing complex inventories, and crafting. Our Executive Producer, Ray, took on the monumental task of building...
