Question 1

What keyboard layouts are compatible with this keycap set?

Accepted Answer

This keycap set is designed for 61/68/75/84/87/98/104 layout mechanical keyboards. Ensure your keyboard matches one of these layouts to avoid compatibility issues, as the number and arrangement of keys differ between them.

Question 2

Are these keycaps suitable for beginners?

Accepted Answer

These keycaps are a great choice for both beginners and experienced users due to their clear, double-shot injection design and translucent characters. The OEM profile offers a balanced feel that is easy on the fingers while still providing a professional look.

Question 3

How do PBT keycaps compare to ABS keycaps in terms of durability?

Accepted Answer

PBT (Polybutylene Terephthalate) keycaps are more durable than ABS (Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene) keycaps, resisting wear and tear better over time. This means your keys will maintain their appearance longer, especially if you type frequently or use a keyboard for gaming.

Question 4

What does "double-shot injection" mean?

Accepted Answer

Double-shot injection involves injecting plastic into two molds to form the keycap body and then injecting a second color of plastic into the first layer. This process ensures that the characters are permanently embedded, making them more durable and resistant to fading or chipping compared to single-layer keycaps.

Question 5

How do I care for these keycaps?

Accepted Answer

To maintain your keycaps' appearance, avoid exposing them to extreme temperatures or direct sunlight. Regular cleaning with a soft cloth can remove dust and fingerprints without damaging the PBT material. For more stubborn stains, use mild soap and water but ensure they are completely dry before reassembling.

Question 6

Are these keycaps backlit?

Accepted Answer

Yes, this keycap set is designed to be used with backlighting. You will need compatible mechanical keyboards that support RGB lighting to fully utilize the translucent characters for a visually appealing setup.

Question 7

How do I install these keycaps on my keyboard?

Accepted Answer

Installation of PBT keycaps typically requires removing the existing keycaps and carefully aligning the new ones over the keys. Ensure you use appropriate tools to avoid damaging your keyboard, such as a key puller or pry tool. Double-check that all keycaps fit snugly without gaps.

Question 8

What is the OEM profile?

Accepted Answer

The OEM profile refers to the standard layout of keycaps designed by original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) for keyboards. It provides a familiar and comfortable typing experience, with specific key placements optimized for efficiency and ergonomics.

Question 9

Can I mix and match these keycaps with my existing keyboard?

Accepted Answer

Mixing and matching PBT keycaps is possible but depends on the layout of your current keyboard. If you have an 87 or 104-key layout, some keys may not fit properly due to differences in key placement. It's best to check the specific layout compatibility before making a purchase.

Question 10

How do I know if this keycap set is right for my needs?

Accepted Answer

Consider your typing style and preferences when choosing between different keycap profiles. The OEM profile offers a balanced feel suitable for most users, while the translucent characters enhance visibility in low-light conditions. Ensure the layout matches your keyboard to avoid any compatibility issues.
