A roguelite third-person puppet-shooter where you wield an entire toybox of absurd weaponry. Fight hordes of cotton-stuffed baddies across fantastical biomes in single-player or co-op. Experience crazy synergies and unlock more toys between runs!
About this game
Toypunk is a roguelite third-person puppet-shooter. Customize your own puppet avatar, grab a friend, and fight against hordes of fuzzy monsters terrorizing the Imaginality: a fantastical alternate dimension of whimsy and peril.
Unlock and unload an arsenal of toy-themed weapons that launch marbles, shoot dice, fling frisbees, and more. Or, just slap away with a weaponized Rubber Chicken.
Put the doll in “ragdoll”. Send your enemies flying, knock ‘em down, and shred ‘em to threads as comedic third-person combat unfurls.

Procedurally generated levels and randomized loot make every run unique. Hop in for a quick run or make it a marathon. Feel rewarded either way!

Play alone or with friends. Capitalize on over-the-top co-op synergies, but beware! More toys = more zaniness.

Travel through the Imaginality: an alternate dimension where all Ideas come from. Warp between fantastical biomes and stop baddies from unraveling the Fabric of the multiverse. Build up your arsenal to face down the biggest, baddest Ideas out there.

Fabricate a Foppit: fuzzy, plushy puppets that are a 50/50 blend of deadly and adorable. Customize them with oodles of unlockable cosmetics, so you’ll always be fighting in style.

Toypunk Tidings: Developer Highlight
Hi folks!Today I'd like to start shining lights on members of our team at Eighth Lantern Studios. One of the people who is making Toypunk possible is Cody Wright. He's one of the most versatile 3D Artists I've ever had the pleasure to work with. He's the creator of our iconic melee weapon - the rubber chicken (we should really come up with a better name. Any ideas?)...And he pioneered visual R&D into the Groom hair/fur tech that we're using on some of our characters...And he's been hard at work developing parts and outfits to prove out the pipeline and the possibility space of our character customization feature. Here's a WIP sneak peek...Cody worked on Lego Universe and Elder Scrolls Online for many years before joining us. Check out more of his work at: ArtStation - Cody Wright! Thanks for your support as always. Tune in for more updates next week!Gabe SheetsHead Foppiteer at Eighth Lantern StudiosRead full article on Community Announcements (Fetusboy)AnnouncementsOfficial
Toypunk Tidings
Hi there!Sometimes in game development you find yourself working on the game in ways that don't match your 12-year old self's conception of what designing and building video games would be like. For example, by writing documents about the game instead of just making it.Who wants to do that when you could be figuring out just how many exploding rubber duckies should launch out of the bath tub and at what frequency instead? I mean, come on!But inevitably, someone on the team will ask a question like, "So, what are we making exactly?". That's the best reminder you'll get that not everyone can read your mind and that communication is important. So, I've been working on the dreaded Game Design Document lately. Here's an excerpt:"Game PillarsEvery run is differentUniversally relatable characters and storiesSystems-driven gameplayGamepad-forward actionThe world reacts to your progressPlayer choices matterSilly first, ask questions laterUnique Selling Points“Build-A-Bear + Call of Duty + Toy Story”Customize Your Own PuppetBecome Jim Henson. Build and accessorize your own puppet.Co-op Cotton CarnageWreak hilarious and family-friendly chaos with your friends against puppet enemies.Toybox ArsenalWield absurd weaponry that delights your inner child. What do Players do in Toypunk? In Toypunk, players customize puppet avatars; fight enemies and bosses with toy-themed weapons; collect loot, resources, and other items; progress their avatars through both runbound and meta progression; and interact with objects and NPCs. Customize→Fight→Collect→Progress→Interact"As we continue developing Toypunk, I would love to hear from anyone reading this, what would you like to know more about the game? Thanks all!Gabe SheetsHead Foppiteer at Eighth Lantern StudiosRead full article on Community Announcements (Fetusboy)AnnouncementsOfficial
Toypunk Tidings
Hey there, Foppiteers! I’m Quinn, Story-Stitcher at Eighth Lantern Studios, with a new tidbit to share about Toypunk.Y’know, ever since we announced Toypunk, people have been asking us: “where did you get this idea?!”. So we figured it’s time we tell you about The Imaginality: the alternate dimension where ALL Ideas come from. That includes Good Ideas like cookies, world peace, or staying hydrated. But also Bad Ideas, like littering, staring directly at the sun, or those nasty, fuzzy creatures we’re calling the Meanies. It’s also the place where Silly Ideas like the Foppits come from. The Imaginality is their home… but it’s in danger.See, the Fabric of the Imaginality is unraveling. Bad Ideas are multiplying by the bazillions and are threatening to invade the entire multiverse… including our own reality! Good Ideas are under attack, and it’s up to the Silly Ideas to fight back. But they need our help.Dr. Funnelbocker and the Foppits used the Fabric to make contact with us humans at Eighth Lantern, and it’s thanks to them we got the idea for Toypunk in the first place! But Toypunk is more than just a game: it’s a way for you to connect directly to the Imaginality, take control of a Foppit, and join in the fight.Curious to know more about The Imaginality? Drop your questions in the comments and we’ll pass them along to the Foppits!Until next time, Quinn ElmerStory-Stitcher at Eighth Lantern StudiosRead full article on Community Announcements (Fetusboy)AnnouncementsOfficial

To begin with, we're starting with some well-known archetypes: the ninja, the firefighter, and the rocker:NinjaFirefighterRockerDynamics TestingWe're also experimenting with dynamic parts. Those are character features that go bouncy-wouncy. Stuff like pony tails, capes, bunny ears, and tails. What outfits and character features would you like to see in the game? Thanks for tuning in as always!Gabe SheetsHead Foppiteer at Eighth Lantern StudiosRead full article on Community Announcements (Fetusboy)AnnouncementsOfficial
Toypunk Tidings: Characters
Hi again, folks! In Toypunk, not only can you Fabricate your own Foppit, but you'll also interact with other Foppits in the Imaginality, the fantastical world of Ideas that the game takes place in.Today, we’re honored to introduce one of those Foppits: Dr. Margaret P. Funnelbocker! Dr. Funnelbocker is an award-winning Quantum Fizzicist and Contraptioneer. She’s devoted herself to the study of new Ideas, and she believes that what makes an Idea good, bad, or silly is simply a matter of one’s point of view. Dr. Funnelbocker is constantly taking different perspectives: so much so that she has trouble making up her mind at times! To help with that, she invented The Perspectiscope, a gadget that helps her find the right viewpoint for whatever problem she's facing. In fact, it is because of her ground-breaking insight on the multiverse that Toypunk exists at all! She discovered a link between the Imaginality and our reality. Now, she’s advising us from across dimensions as we make the game. But this isn’t JUST a game: it’s a way for us humans to connect directly to the Imaginality and join in the fight against the Bad Ideas! As always, stay tuned for more updates, and let us know what you think in the comments! Thanks!Gabe SheetsHead Foppiteer at Eighth Lantern StudiosRead full article on Community Announcements (Fetusboy)
