About this game

Rise of the Penguins 3 is a simple linear 3d platformer with a focus on sliding, doing tricks and throwing snowballs to kill enemies. The game is inspired by Ninja Gaiden, bit of Sonic and previous Rise of the Penguins games.

There is also split screen and co op but I wasn't able to test it with anyone else. I tested it with myself to set it up. If people play some feedback on that would be nice but game is primarily single player. I added the split screen / co op just because it seemed like it was worth trying but I prefer playing solo.

patch notes Rise of the Penguins 3 demo v0.9

I updated the capsule art a few days ago was struggling to get the update out. But I think I am going to release this version for now. I really want to focus on getting the single player part and making more of the levels and things so didn't want to spend time on the split screen or multiplayer so it's probably broken right now.new title screenenabled a lot more shadowsthere are a lot more haptics if you use controller can adjust in the settings etcsome sections get a new look for the demo here compared to how they looked beforecan customize character appearance colorreworked some mechanics for combat can also do a dive dash that is on a specific key so the original one had it so that if you did a trick or no trick it would determine if you do one dash or the other but now it's only tied to which key you press

patch notes Rise of the Penguins 3 demo v0.65 and thoughts on the next fest

can now lean and hop between railsI updated the game reducing the menu sfx sounds and also doing a few other things to improve the player. I didn't get any feedback regarding tutorial prompts if i should add some to the level 1 or anything i might just to enforce that you can drift and charge jump and chain jumps etc but we'll see about that. No one beat the level 1 I assume people got stuck at the arena section so just made that easier on normal modes then.also a few notes on the overall game and the next festlooking at the numbers and other people's advice online it's easy to get distracted into thinking I should wrap up my game and then work on the next one. But that would be a disgrace to my Rise of the Penguins franchise I've created for myself.I have never made a 3d game in godot before it's been fun and hardest part probably is that the way i made the levels maybe isn't the best but for this linear type of game it's fine. I'm pretty happy with how a lot of the enemies I've made in some of the levels in general behave. Still working on trying to make bosses feel good but since I'm still figuring out more of the player items and other mechanics it's going to take a bit to solidify them.As well as i think it's very important that I add these multiplayer and split screen features into my game even if no one ends up using it.So this is just more of a note to myself I suppose but I think after making a few games I'm honestly not super disappointed in no one playing my game. I've been more motivated because of this relief. I've also decided for the most part not to email any creators or people because I don't really see the point unless I really want to hear what they have to say and have watched some of their content. Also in the future I'll probably talk more about the features in my game I didn't do it so much in my last game because I think I had a fear of sharing the ideas in my game. But I think it's worth sharing because since I now know no one is going to pla...

    Updated Demo V0.6

biggest win is overall performance. seems actually playable though need other people to test for frame dips etc but seems like someone could actually go through the full level 1 now. though might need to test the boss fight some more therehud redesign: got rid of top left corner bars and opted for a more compact layout with a stamina and focus bars that are closer to the player and only show when being used. as well as moved the mana bar down to the bottom left and the items over to that side toothere is a hazard symbol that shows up if you're sliding in a direction that is off camera to let you know you'll hit like a wall or ledge or something useful for players not looking behind there with the rear view camera. projectile indicators turned off. feel like just seeing the enemies ones is easier for most users aiming and things is bit better / easierfish slapper item works a bit differently now might too too powerful now but is pretty satisfying to usesetup most of the menus for split screen there.wip multiplayer

    Rough demo out

released rough demo for the game. it's mainly focused on the single player. there are stubs for the split screen and the multiplayer but I plan on circling back to that later. Mainly focused on making the content of the game so didn't want to get too distracted. feel free to leave feedback here on the discord or telegram.
