Iron Rain Cancelled (Sort Of)
Hey,I'll cut to the chase, I do not plan on finishing Iron Rain. The reason is a mix of things:I've been struggling to develop it further because I've not enjoyed the feel of the game, I can occasionally find the fun, but either through burnout or just over-exposure to its premise, I'm not enjoying working on it.I've struggled to get traction on marketing and visibility, I expect, because I can not think of a way to market it.The game lacks and identity which makes it stand out, as it is, I have made a Survivors'-Like with a racing gimmick, and I don't think that is enough.I'm going back to the drawing board, salvaging what I can from Iron Rain and putting in a longer round of pre-production, to give the project which replaces it a better chance.I'll be correcting my mistakes via:Making a more visceral gameplay loop, that is, something which controls tighter, and provides feedback in a more styled and enjoyable way.Making a game which allows for better expression of style, to draw out a better identity and more enjoyable moments even in the low intensity moments.Making a regular Devlog with gameplay snippets, its the component of marketing an indie game I've missed on Iron Rain, its deprived me of feedback and the game of exposureSpending more time on making short and impactful trailers, rather than drawn out snippets of gameplayI have plans in motion for what comes next, it isn't a total start from scratch, but the project taking shape at the moment is quite a departure from Iron Rain.If you're interested in following what comes next, I'll be posting about it on X, here: https://x.com/nosgamesltdCheers,ScottRead full article on Community Announcements (scott.howell)Patch NotesOfficial

Demo Release!
Hi, I'm pleased to announce after a short round of private testing and feedback the Demo is ready to go live. This is still a work in progress so I'll explain what the Demo 0.1.6.0 will release with and what I intend to work on while its released until I shift gears to working on the final game. The Demo will release with access to: 2 Characters, The Tanky Minnie (Shire - Green Tank) and The Speedy Sadie (Quarter - Red Tank) 16 Items 1 Stage (The Factory) 12 Pickups 3 Bosses (Weather Machine, Hell Rider, Prototype Core) What I intend to work on over the course of the Demo: Responding to feedback, I'm listening and making changes right now in private feedback sessions, hearing a new players perspective is very helpful, I intend to do the same when the Demo is public New variations on the Static Defenses (the little activatable pop-up turrets), this is a mechanic I feel is underused right now with only a rapidfire gun version, I intend to beef them up with missile, flame and utility variants Elemental Effects, you can deal elemental damage right now, as a means of counteracting armour and shield, but I like the idea of more interactive effects such as fire explosions, corrosive pools, nanite swarms, and shock chains, so its high up on my todo list. More kinds of Debris (barrels), they bounce around nicely now, but I'd love them to also explode, or smash, or behave in some way that makes them a more varied experience. Add more pickups, napalm, companion spawn, temporary turret swap, elemental effect boost, I have a dozen ideas and I want them in. Info Database, while this exists for skill cards, I want to make one for enemies, pickups and damage types too. Currently Known Issues: Sadie is missing her loading screen animation, allow Minnie to dance for her a little while longer as I finish her animation! Pickups will sometimes not pull towards you if they sit near specific map boundaries (still pickup-able with contact) Cheers, Scott Nos GamesRead full article on Community Announcements (scott.howell)Patch NotesOfficial
