Navigate the twisted corridors of an office gone wrong, blasting robots to survive and reach home. Die for the Economy! offers chunky pixel art in a 2024 release from Tea Monster Games.
About this game
Die for the Economy! is a love letter to 1980s maze-based arcade games like Berzerk and Frenzy. Armed with your trusty blaster, the P-45, make your way through the maze, blast the evil robots and avoid the electrified walls.
Gameplay:
Play either the regular game (escape the maze), a random game with powerups, or 'classic' mode.
In regular 'escape the maze' game mode:
As you venture through the maze, finding and destroying security servers, you are accompanied by your friend The Union Rep over the video communicator. The Union Rep will provide useful instructions for getting out of the maze.
For bonus points, you can also collect patent documents which appear in most of the rooms. Each room has one and you can see on the results screen how many of them you ended up collecting- it's just a little extra challenge to take on as you battle your way through.
If you run away from the robots, they WILL taunt you for it. Because they're mean.
In a security server room, there are four shield terminals (one in each corner of the screen) that need to be destroyed to disable the shield surrounding the server in the center. Once you've taken the shield down, the server will be exposed and ready to receive some laser blasts! Hit it until it is destroyed.
When you disable all of the security servers, it's time to return to the start screen (in the center of the maze) where the teleporter will be activated (The Union Rep will tell you when it's time to return, so don't worry about keeping track of that!). Get back to the teleporter to complete the game.
In random arcade game mode:
See how far you can get in a randomly generated maze - it's different every time! In this mode, there are powerups to speed you up and extend your firepower. Take down as many bots as possible, survive the longest and beat your high scores.
In 'classic' game mode:
It's a random maze, no servers, no powerups just a huge maze full of robots. See how long you can survive!
Features:
Beautiful, chunky pixel art graphics with a psychedelic slant harking back to the old 8-bit systems.
3 game modes to suit your style of play
Leaderboards for chasing your own high scores
The gameplay captures the essence of classic arcade games, but modernized to enjoy new features without taking away the original vibe.
Pause the game at any time, ideal if you need to put the kettle on and make a cup of tea!

Hotfix 2.2.2 - Another focus issue fix
Hello, fellow workers, We've been having a few issues with focus, which is about right when you have humanoid co-workers. They do like to dream and think about their plans for the weekends or where they're going on their holidays, so I've implemented a much better solution: More robot co-workers! Robot co-workers will be more reliable, they will be more supportive when you need a shoulder to cry on and they'll save me some much needed cash (I've got my eye on another yacht and she's a beauty!). So, the focus issue should be solved (no more error message when the main game window loses focus) and most of the staff have now been replaced by A.I. Remember, we're all one big family here so let's pull together and make this work! Thanks again for your patience. Please keep reporting issues to HR for further interrogation. Many kind regards, The CEO.Read full article on Community Announcements (Tea Monster Games)Patch NotesOfficial
Hotfix 3: 2.2.0 Steamdeck focus issue
Hello, fellow workers, Following on from this mornings meeting re: tiny screen issue, there have been some focus issues reported by some employees working via Steamdeck. The programmer responsible for the Steamdeck focus code has been sent to the maze with the Managerbots and I hope that this is the end of the issue once and for all. When the Steam overlay is brought up, the game will now regain focus when it is closed. It seems like such a simple thing, yet .. Should you encounter any more issues, please continue to report them to HR for further interrogation. Thank you for your patience. Sincerely, The CEO.Read full article on Community Announcements (Tea Monster Games)Patch NotesOfficial

Hotfix 2.1.1 for screen size launch issue!
Hello, workers, This is a quick hotfix to sort out an issue that some people (thanks, IDK Media!) found when launching the game and it would start in a tiny window. The IT department have upgraded windows to the full (screen) version. Security servers also no longer have a hole in the shield that could be used to access them without dealing with the shield terminals first. This led to many people not doing their full workload in the server rooms. Quite unnacceptable! Please report any further issues you have to HR and we'll get right on them. Now, back to those TPS reports..! Yours sincerely, The CEO.Read full article on Community Announcements (Tea Monster Games)
