Battle through a harsh sci-fi environment where every run tests your survival skills. Dodge attacks, aim precisely, and outlast the extinction as you explore the intense Twin-Stick Roguelite Shooter from Apamate Studio, set for release in 2024.
About this game
Mechanophagia is a visceral Twin-Stick Shooter set in a dark, gritty sci-fi world where you are a lone robot warrior fighting against an overwhelming tide of flesh and metal. You have exactly 10 minutes to slaughter the swarm, evolve your unit, and prepare for the final boss. It’s a race against extinction where precision is your only means of survival.
KEY FEATURES
Full Combat Control: Master the twin-stick controls to dodge and aim with lethal precision. Your skill is the only thing standing between you and the scrap heap.
3 Distinct Biomes: Battle through three unique levels, each populated by its own ecosystem of aberrant enemies with distinct behaviors and attack patterns. Adapt your strategy to survive the specific threats of each zone.
Draft Broken Builds: Level up and choose from a pool of random upgrades. Combine piercing rounds, bouncing lasers, and area-of-effect blasts to create devastating synergies.
Permanent Progression: Use the data from your failed runs to purchase permanent stat upgrades. Come back stronger, faster, and ready to push further into the infection.

The echo of a frantic shriek traveled through the skyscrapers of the city, followed by the screeching sound of metal against metal that rattled my screws. Finally, the Mechanophages attacked. The familiar hum of power circulating through the city was interrupted by the alarm that sounded in unison in our operating systems. We were prepared, we knew our duty. We had to defend ourselves. Defend ourselves from that grotesque vision of flesh and metal that was advancing overwhelmingly over the city, deploying aberrant creatures that flooded our streets and devoured everything in their path. No, there was no way to defend ourselves against it. The self-preservation protocol kicked in and paralyzed us, stopping us from facing certain death. But we were left vulnerable to annihilation. It was then that we saw him. In the distance, the silhouette of a robot showed us the way. Tetsuo, the first to take to the sky to defend Mech-city.

We are back! (Update: New Languages, Music & Fixes)
It’s been over a year since the launch of Mechanophagia, and we know we’ve been quiet. We want to be completely honest with you: since the launch, we had to make the tough decision to freeze major updates for the game.As a small indie team, the economic results of the launch didn't allow us to continue dedicating full-time resources to it. We had to pivot to survive. During this time, we’ve been pouring our hearts into the development of our second game, Animas, a psychological horror title set in our home country, Venezuela. But we never forgot about Mechanophagia. It was our first game, and it holds a special place in our hearts. That’s why, despite our focus on Animas, we decided to take a couple of weeks to pause everything else and give Mechanophagia the love and polish it has been missing since last year.We are happy to announce that a New Update is available right now! Here is what’s new: Major Localization Update: This is the biggest change. We want more players to enjoy the game in their native tongue, so we have localized the UI and texts into 8 new languages:Simplified Chinese Korean Japanese German FrenchRussian Portuguese (Brazil) Italian New Music Tracks: Previously, the music could feel repetitive across levels. We have added brand new tracks for Level 2 and Level 3. Now, every stage has its own unique musical identity to match the intensity of the hordes. Progression Balance: We heard you. Some achievements were nearly impossible or too grindy. We have adjusted the progression curve and achievement requirements to make them challenging but fair.Bug Fixes: Fixed a specific bug where players could take damage during the transition animation to the Level 3 boss fight. Engine Update: We updated the project to the latest Unity version to address the security vulnerability discovered earlier this year, ensuring a safer experience for everyone. While we cannot promise major content updates or expansions as our resources are fully committed to Animas, we will...Read full article on Community Announcements (apamatestudio)AnnouncementsOfficial

Update notes - Version 1.0.2
We have made a small update to Mechanophagia. These are some of the changes we have made: We added the icons for some missing achievements (both in the game and in the Steam library). We modified a little bit the background of the first level, to give a little more contrast to the scene and better distinguish what is happening. We also modified the colors of the main character, to make them more vibrant, and we improved the visual effect when receiving damage. We have made some balance changes to several enemies, based on what we have seen from the first players of the game. We will continue to analyze all the data we get, and improve what is needed. We fixed some small bugs in the English localization of the game, with texts that did not appear in the correct language.Read full article on Community Announcements (apamatestudio)AnnouncementsOfficial
Mechanophagia is now available!
Finally Mechanophagia is out, after almost a year of development, and we are very happy to finally share the result of our work. We are a small Venezuelan studio, formed by two brothers, and this is the first videogame we publish, but it will not be the last. Let's start by reviewing the content of the game at the time of its release: 3 different levels, each one with its own enemies with different behaviors, and a unique boss after surviving for 10 minutes. 56 random upgrade cards during the runs. 6 permanent upgrades, that you can assign with achievement points between games, and that you can reassign at any time. 39 different achievements, with which you will earn points to buy more permanent upgrades. What will be released in the coming weeks One thing we want to clarify is that Mechanophagia has not been released in early access. Our plan has always been that Mechanophagia would be a small game, that would serve us to learn the necessary skills for the development of a videogame, and that we could apply those skills to our future projects. Even so, the game could not be ready for the release date in the conditions we would have liked. Partly because of our inexperience as developers, and partly because the climate of political instability in our country has made it difficult for us to work this last month. Therefore, during the next few weeks we will be updating the game, until we get it to the state in which we wanted it to be released. These are the things we will be adding or improving in the next weeks: Quick mode (5 minute games, to get to the boss faster) Visual improvements to many parts of the game A better transition to the boss fight, and a more satisfying victory screen. Add many sound effects missing in the game. Difficulty balancing. Things we could add later Throughout the development of Mechanophagia we have been having to put ideas aside, as we understood the difficulties involved. Many of these ideas require time and resources to bring to fruit...Read full article on Community Announcements (apamatestudio)
