Gear up and battle terrifying creatures in Gamma Strain, a third-person co-op horror shooter from Gamma Minus. Master unique builds and survive by outsmarting the threats that lurk around every corner.
About this game
Gamma Strain is a cooperative third-person horror shooter. Battle through hordes of different types of mutated anomalies, customize your character and gear, and level-up as you try to contain this ever-growing threat. Teamwork, tactics, and flawless execution are key to your survival.

If your squad dies, you’ll have to restart. (permadeath). When you restart your new mission is shown but ALSO the location of the previously fallen squad is shown. You can choose to go to the fallen squad location and retrieve their digital biometric dog tags and potential gear.
If you do this- the XP that that squad gained is added to your XP upon a successful extraction.
If you die on this run, then you lose everything. When you restart the game, the prior fallen squads are no longer shown.

Choose to extract or continue. Increasing the potential rewards, but simultaneously increasing the potential risk. Players can choose to continue playing and get more loot and XP, or play it safe and end the run. If you wipe, no XP is gained. High Risk. High Reward.

Operators can only go into "the zone" ONCE. Similar to the protocols developed during the Chernobyl incident. These protocols limit exposure, due to the unknown and potential contamination risks.
That means each time a fresh squad is sent in. There is no individual Operator progression, but rather Class Progression.

When a squad member is downed and not revived in time, they are dragged away to the next nearest nest.
They can be rescued before they are assimilated, but time is a factor. If all soldiers are downed, they are all taken to the nest, and the game session is over.
“Game over, man. Game over.”

DEV BLOG 1_
Welcome to the first Gamma Strain dev blog! Our goal is to provide you with regular development updates to keep you informed about our progress. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/45059472/91a7d3e4c92461c3cbe46e9c66eaa517822a7553.png It might be good however to briefly go over the iteration process up until now. After working on Rough Justice: '84 for over two years, we were ready for something new! Initially, however, we weren't quite sure what we wanted to do, so we started experimenting with different genres. The iterative process is our guiding principle, ensuring that the games we create evolve and improve with each cycle of planning, development, testing, and feedback. It all begins with the concept and planning phase. We start by brainstorming initial ideas and setting goals for the game. During this phase, we create a detailed plan or design document that outlines the game's features, mechanics, and story. This document serves as our roadmap throughout the entire development process. Once we have a clear plan, we move on to prototyping. Here, we create early versions or prototypes of the game or specific features. These prototypes allow us to quickly explore and test concepts without significant investment of resources. It’s a phase of experimentation where we can play around with different ideas and identify potential issues early on. We knew we wanted to make something dark and with mutant anomalies. Our first prototype concept was a turned-based side-scrolling combat game, similar to Darkest Dungeon with "dungeon exploration". Here's a GIF of our original concept. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/45059472/fd35b16e4ce15f0ea32a56308cabe49996077e13.gif Adhering to our self-imposed guidelines and after rigorous experimenting and testing, at the end of the day, we realized that something was missing, so, it was back to the drawing board! For our second prototype interaction, we thought that the side view was too static in our initial concept, so we started to experiment with a fully 3D env...Read full article on Community Announcements (JezzaPrime)
