Question 1

Is this extension lead suitable for gaming consoles?

Accepted Answer

This product is designed to provide power and charging for multiple USB devices. While it can be used with gaming consoles that support USB connections, check the console's specifications or manufacturer guidelines for compatibility. Some gaming consoles may require specific power sources or have limited USB ports.

Question 2

Can I use this extension lead with my laptop?

Accepted Answer

Yes, you can connect your laptop to one of the four USB slots provided. However, ensure that your laptop is not drawing more current than the 1.8m cable and surge protector can handle. The PD20W USB-C charger supports fast charging, which might be beneficial for laptops with compatible ports.

Question 3

How many devices can I plug into this extension lead simultaneously?

Accepted Answer

You can connect up to four devices at once using the four available USB slots. This is ideal for setting up multiple peripherals such as keyboards, mice, and controllers without needing additional power sources or cables.

Question 4

Is the cable long enough for my desk setup?

Accepted Answer

The 1.8m (6ft) cable should be sufficient for most desktop setups. It provides ample length to position your devices conveniently while keeping them within reach. If you need a longer cable, consider purchasing an extension lead with a longer cable from the retailer.

Question 5

Are all USB slots powered equally?

Accepted Answer

Yes, each of the four USB slots is individually switchable and surge-protected. This means that you can control which devices are receiving power and protect them from voltage spikes simultaneously. It’s useful for managing power to sensitive electronics like gaming controllers or external hard drives.

Question 6

Can I mount this extension lead on my desk?

Accepted Answer

Yes, the mountable design allows you to attach the extension lead to your desk for a cleaner setup. This feature is particularly handy if you have limited space and want to keep your desktop tidy while still having easy access to power and charging options.

Question 7

What does the box contain besides the extension lead?

Accepted Answer

The box includes the 1.8m Desk Extension Lead, four USB slots with individual switches for each port, a surge protector, and mounting hardware if you choose to mount it on your desk. Additionally, there may be an instruction manual or warranty information included.

Question 8

How do I set up the individual switches?

Accepted Answer

To use the individual switches, simply plug in the extension lead and turn on the switches for the ports where you want power. Each switch controls one USB slot independently, allowing you to manage which devices are powered without affecting others. This feature is especially useful when managing multiple devices with varying power needs.

Question 9

Is this surge protector effective?

Accepted Answer

The surge protection built into this extension lead helps safeguard your connected devices from voltage spikes that can damage electronics. It’s an important feature, particularly if you live in an area prone to electrical surges or use the extension lead near appliances that might cause fluctuations in power.

Question 10

Can I use this with a USB-C device?

Accepted Answer

Yes, one of the four USB slots supports PD20W charging via USB-C. This is ideal for devices like smartphones, tablets, or laptops with USB-C ports that support fast charging. Make sure your device can benefit from the 20W power delivery to ensure efficient charging.
