Is this the right pick for you?

This 6-foot Unidirectional USB C to Mini DisplayPort Cable is ideal for users who need a straightforward solution to connect their USB-C equipped devices with Mini DisplayPort monitors or external graphics cards. It supports 4K resolution at 60Hz, making it perfect for gaming setups where visual fidelity and smoothness are crucial. However, this cable does not support data transfer via USB C, nor can it be used as a Thunderbolt 3 port for storage, hard drives, or audio devices. If you're looking to connect your laptop or desktop with a Mini DisplayPort monitor without the need for additional adapters, this cable is an excellent choice. In a typical setup, this cable would be used in scenarios where you want to extend your display output from a USB-C port on your device to a compatible monitor. For example, if you're using a modern laptop or a desktop with USB-C ports and have a Mini DisplayPort monitor that needs 4K resolution at 60Hz, this cable will ensure a clear and smooth connection. It’s important to note that while it supports high-resolution video output, it does not offer any additional functionality beyond display connectivity. When setting up the cable, make sure both ends are correctly oriented as the USB-C end is unidirectional; inserting it backwards won’t work. Additionally, always handle the cable with care, especially at its connectors, to avoid damaging them during use or storage. Given its specific purpose and limitations, this cable is best suited for users who require a simple, direct connection between their USB-C device and Mini DisplayPort monitor without the need for additional hardware.

Frequently asked questions

Can this cable be used with any USB C device?

This cable is specifically designed for devices that support the Mini DisplayPort (mDP) protocol through a USB-C port. It won't work with devices that require Thunderbolt 3 or those using standard USB-C ports without an mDP adapter. Check your device's specifications to ensure compatibility.

What kind of display can this cable support?

This cable supports a resolution up to 4K at 60Hz, which is ideal for high-definition displays. However, it’s important to check the capabilities of both your source device and monitor to make sure they support these settings.

Is there anything else in the box besides the cable?

The package typically includes just the USB C to Mini DisplayPort cable itself. It's advisable to verify with the manufacturer or retailer for any additional accessories that might be included, such as a warranty card or user manual.
