About this game

We love the good ol' days of the 3rd person RPG, sure they are still around but there can never be enough of them and we have a few ideas on how to innovate.

So, we were wondering: Can we have a 3rd person RPG that lets us team up with our buddies and play competitively or co-operately? Can we hop in helicopters and trucks together and mission around vast play areas that can erupt into warzones at any time? Can it be set in some sort of zombie infested post-apocalyptic world so we get all kinds of interesting foes? Can we build barricades to protect our stuff and defend them from other teams and foes?

Then we spent a few years working on it and found the answer is yes, we can!

Update 10.1 - Performance Tweaks, AI and Blood Splatters

We’re busy tightening all the nuts and bolts getting things ready for the Steam Early Access release and we added a lot of stuff that we thought was worth putting into a supplementary update. https://steamcdn-a.akamaihd.net/steamcommunity/public/images/clans/33002308/404ab7b6eedd462d211c848695107344c5c890b2.jpg Here’s a shot of something we’re working on right now the ‘Infected Hospital’ map, one of our very first interiors! It shows of some of the tweaks we’ve made to the visuals quite nicely. AI Overhaul One of the things we wanted to put into Zombie Barricades right from the start was a team system that allowed us to have Players and AI fighting together vs. other Players or AI. This is key to our dream of creating something that can be played cooperatively, but also allows us to create insane action-packed gameplay environments. We’re happy to report that we have started to overhaul the AI, so they are able to target things over a greater range and have much better behaviour when hearing noise or engaging. https://steamcdn-a.akamaihd.net/steamcommunity/public/images/clans/33002308/f937f60c46206a1c4610c3483031dce8b62f14cb.jpg Blood Splatters, Bullet holes and Blast Marks So far, we’ve been focusing mainly on the mechanical stuff and keeping the visual FX fun and simple. We started experimenting with using decals for blood splatter and bullet holes when recording the new trailer and found it really adds a new dimension to things, so we added them to the full game. Enjoy! https://steamcdn-a.akamaihd.net/steamcommunity/public/images/clans/33002308/0bc51eee78c3f44e73e792816e411d708cd42b54.jpg Fixes and Performance Improvements We’re moving to a system whereby game things are preloaded like most games to keep in-game lag to a minimum, this is pretty much implemented now – so older computers should get a little performance boast. Some mentioning of game server crashes on Discord, these have now been addressed also. Another round of tweaks to come yet with Update 10, so...

Update 10 - Tutorial and Controller support added!

We’ve spent the last month tightening the bolts on the servers with the latest patch improving stability and we’ve added a number of exciting new features to the client. Partial Controller Support Controller support is in we’re pleased to say and it adds such a cool dimension to the game. It's pretty fun with the mouse and keyboard but when played with the joypad it's almost like a different genre of game. We're looking forward to adding some more action based components like sprinting to compliment it. Following the same standard most games adopt these days, controller hints are shown only if a controller is detected. We’re calling it ‘partial’ support right now because we still haven’t added controlling the menus or inventory via the controller, all this will be coming very soon. https://steamcdn-a.akamaihd.net/steamcommunity/public/images/clans/33002308/8de08b67f7b8fd87759176f891d37c6a35004424.jpg To tidy things up and make things flow a little better, the grenade throwing experience has been updated so it makes a little more sense. Grenades have a minimum and maximum throw range and there’s a little bit of trickery with the camera now to help you aim. What’s more, you can now loot resources and stash piles by silently clicking on them when you are near, kinda makes more sense than having to shoot the place up to extract a sandwich from a vending machine – although, you can still do that if you wanna. Fully Interactive Tutorial You asked for it and it is here folks, a full tutorial! https://steamcdn-a.akamaihd.net/steamcommunity/public/images/clans/33002308/66466c3af545ebdc871e45adc4967c5620b617dc.jpg We had to wait until we added controller support else we would have been chasing our tail, but we now have a 30-step tutorial taking us though all the controls of Zombie Barricades and you’ll hopefully be an expert once you’ve completed it. Getting ready to launch on Steam The dream was to create a game that was free for people to play and leave it to you to decide ...
