About this game

Add Decks to your Wishlist and don't miss the launch week rewards.

Decks is a real-time strategy game with collectable card elements. Theorycraft your favourite combination of beasts, spells and legendary heroes to overcome the challenges ahead. Play on your own, with a small group of friends, or join others to take on the massive boss fights.

~

Cards let you summon creatures from 5 unique themes (Nature, War, Life, Death, Steam). Each comes with a signature playstyle - from the explosive War, to supportive Life or highly mobile Nature. Mix and match cards from your collection, creating a deck of 10 creatures you bring on your expeditions. With regular updates, the game is constantly evolving and there are always new cards to find.

~

Play solo or with a friend. Expeditions are intended for 1-3 players and include a variety of game modes. Hunt sends you to find and kill all enemies, Defense tests how long you last against hordes of beasts, and Delve has you navigate tight dungeons filled with traps. Complete these maps at your own pace and earn essence to earn new cards. Once you get comfortable, try to beat a timer and place your name on the global leaderboard.

~

Join groups of 4+ players to take on the most challenging content. Work together, explore card synergies, and outsmart the bosses. These maps aim to replicate the excitement of boss fights in online roleplaying games, with intricate mechanics and a slim margin for error. You will need to coordinate with your allies, bringing decks that complement each other. Where there are dragons there is treasure - those who overcome the challenge will unlock the rarest cards Decks has to offer.

~

Play against other deck-builders. Pick from a variety of environments and master the unique PvPvE dynamic of Decks. To win, you will need to tactically destroy neutral monsters to spawn cards, while keeping control of your territory and pushing the enemy player back. Climb the competitive ladder and earn trophies, which can then be converted into unique PvP cards you can show off during Expeditions or even Raids.

    2022 Development Update

Development Update Thank you for checking in on Decks! The project started as a hobby of mine in 2018/2019. Since then, the game has gone through several iterations and now has over 50 unique units, different maps, PvP / PvE game modes, and varied progression systems. Being the only developer on the project, progress takes time, especially when my life gets busy outside of game development. In 2021, I spent my free time developing a random map generator for the game. This was a frequently requested feature, consisting of multiple components, each with different caveats.- from making a database of tile pieces to writing the logic that puts them together. Unfortunately developing this was complex, took lots of time, and ultimately didn't turn out a fun feature. The maps were semi-random and different each time but lacked character and uniqueness to them. It felt like I spent 9 months of work to make Decks worse. Combined with my job getting busy, I took a break from development in the summer of 2021. A few weeks ago I moved jobs, which gives me a bit more flexibility and ultimately time to work on Decks again! The Good and Bad Over 20 people helped test the game in its early stages. I genuinely appreciate everyone who helped test the game. Your feedback has been invaluable - it helps guide the development and makes the process more fun! If you are keen to stick along for the ride, there will be new updates and features coming that could use your help. ːtgrinː This let me narrow down the fun and not-so-fun aspects of Decks as it stands today. The Good: Co-operative Maps: It is fun to play with others, team up with your friends on missions, help them out with your cards, and defeat the bigger bosses together. Card Collections: I am quite happy with the collection aspects. The cards feel distinct, fun to collect, and always give you something to look forward to. It also doesn't feel prohibitive if you're lacking some of them - you can make fun, themed decks even with a h...

    Development Update

{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/37029277/f5bdb10fe90c098f2542610a77aeb6a6896d639a.png Greetings Deckbuilders! I genuinely appreciate your interest in Decks. It has been a passion project of mine since 2019. As someone who loves collecting of all things pop-culture (from comics, to figures and trading card games), I wanted to make a game that blends the fun of collectables with the immersion of RPG worlds. What's the plan? The game has been in development since 2019. It now has a "stable" prototype including the core features. We test it internally with a handful of friends, collect feedback and regularly polish / implement / scrap systems. It's come a long way since the Steam trailer (recorded in March), but still has a long way to go. Some of the concepts aren't as fun as I'd like them to be, so I am constantly experimenting with new designs. I am a big fan of community building and collaborative development. At the same time, there is a fine line between gathering feedback and releasing an early version that lacks the magic dust to make it fun. I'd love to hear what you think - would you be interested in testing very early prototypes, follow the development through updates, or simply wait for a stable release? I am open to all of these options. What's been added since March? Units / Cards There were 50 cards scheduled for launch and all of these are implemented. This means each one has a unique art card, along with the in-game unit. Units have different models, stats and many of them have abilities. The variety is quite decent, with multiple viable playstyles at the moment. I love running quirky decks that rely on area spells or sacrifice. Other testers enjoy ranged unit decks or more stable decks based around buffs and healing. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/37029277/1bc819a631247f29a2168c249672cd2641257bc3.png Maps The playable maps have undergone huge changes since the early days. There were 8 playable maps - some large, some small. Some with vast open environments, some with tight in-...
