Command a settlement of early humans, guiding them from hunting and gathering to advanced techs. In Dawn of Man, every decision shapes their fate against harsh environments.

About this game

Take control of a settlement of the first modern humans, guide them through the ages in their struggle for survival.

Dawn of Man is a survival/city-builder from the creators of Planetbase.

The game starts in the Stone Age, and takes you up to the Iron Age, spanning more than 10,000 years of human prehistory.

You will have to get your people to survive, expand and evolve, just like our ancestors, facing the challenges that the environment will throw at you.

Hunt

Animals were a vital source of food and resources for ancient humans. Use their meat to feed your people and their skin and bones to make clothing and craft the tools you will need to stay alive.

Confront Mammoths, Woolly Rhinos, Ancient Bison, Megaloceros, Cave Lions and other species that roamed the earth at the time.

Gather

Collect a variety resources from the environment: fruit, berries, water, wood, flint, stone, ores. Use them to prepare food, to make tools and to build structures in your settlement.

Plan for harsh times

Fish is more abundant in spring, berries and fruit can be collected in summer and animals are easier to come by when it's warm.

When winter comes, make sure to have enough non-perishable food and warm clothing in order to survive.

Expand and fortify your settlement

Build more homes and facilities for your people, in order to expand your population.

Construct fortifications and craft weapons, so you are ready for when the inevitable conflict comes.

Research Technologies

Each new discovery will make it easier for your settlement to be able to support larger populations, but will also bring new challenges: increased food demand, morale issues and more frequent raider attacks.

Build Megalithic Structures

Our ancestors were capable of incredible engineering feats: mine massive rocks from the environment, transport them using sledges and construct colossal stone structures.

Control Nature

Unlock farming technologies to grow your own vegetables, so you can feed large amounts of people. Domesticate animals to produce food, resources and provide increased muscle power.

Planetbase 2 - Legacy of Man

Hello Everyone! As you might know, we are working on Planetbase 2. This is obviously not Dawn of Man 2, but it's pretty close, as we are borrowing a lot of inspiration from it in terms of gameplayWe hope that people will feel right at home in it, as if coming back to a familiar world, even in a very different setting. This is a recap of what we've done so far.VehiclesPlanetbase 2 will feature a few different vehicles, as with Dawn Of Man, these will help colonists perform their tasks more efficiently.Food productionIn Planetbase 2 you will be able to build a variety of food sources: vegetables, algae, insects and vitromeat. Like in Dawn of Man, producing a variety of food will be critical for your colony's survival.FacilitiesThe Canteen, Bar, Dorms, Gym and Chill Out Room are some of the facilities colonists will be able to enjoy.Power SourcesApart from Solar and Wind we are adding Nuclear, Geothermal and Fusion Power.Rocket Fuel ProductionYou will be able to produce Propellant to refuel incoming spaceships. Okay, there is nothing like this in Dawn of Man, this is definitely a new thing.Familiar FeaturesVersions of the Tech Tree, Work Areas or Primal Vision are making a comeback. Also, like in Dawn of Man, Resource Limits and Workload Management will be critical tools. And a lot moreThis is just a small part of the features in the game, this will be our most feature rich game yet.We are borrowing from Planetbase 1, Dawn of Man, and adding many novel ideas as well.We hope you join us in this adventure to the future of mankind.let us know what you think, if you like it or even if you don't!Martiño.

    Planetbase 2 Announcement

Hello Everyone, We can now announce that we've started work on Planetbase 2. As much that this is a sequel to the original Planetbase, this is also Dawn of Man's spiritual successor, the theme changes, but the city-builder/RTS/survival concept remains. A ton of features from Dawn of Man like work areas, relative resource limits, direct RTS style commands or storage filters will be making a comeback in Planetbase 2, After 10 years, now the time has come to go back to our origins and revisit the Planetbase idea. We now have the time and resources to expand a concept that we always thought had a lot more potential. We've started work on this about 6 months ago, and we are still very much working out the exact design for the game, but these are the core ideas are focusing on: Real worlds In Planetbase, the planets were inspired by real worlds of the solar system, but we stopped short of calling them by their names. Now we want to add a more realistic twist (if you can call the colonization of the Solar System realistic) and allow the player to colonize real worlds. We are initially working on Mars, but other worlds worlds we have in mind are The Moon, Europa or Titan. Tech Tree In Planetbase you could acquire some techs, but now we are adding a proper tech tree like in Dawn of Man. Where it makes sense you will be able to research new technologies, and if we are talking about things that couldn't be researched in an off planet-colony you will be able to buy the right patents to use them. Vehicles Off world colonization won't be possible without using vehicles. We are working on adding rovers, mining vehicles or propellant tankers. These will be instrumental to increase the efficiency of your base. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/10221286/bc6a805511fe98a0a946acc3b0de0c43f91dfe40.png Complex production chains We want to expand on the simple ideas we had in Planetbase for resource gathering and manufacturing, allowing the player to mine in-situ resources and go in more detail about wha...
