About this game
Scratch The Cat is a vibrant 3D action-adventure platformer where you step into the shoes and headphones of Scratch, the DJ cat, on a quest to reclaim his stolen records.

Scratch isn’t just any cat - he’s quick, nimble, and packed with style! Run, jump, slide, climb, swim, and dive through vibrant levels. Chain together moves to reach hidden areas or traverse obstacles with flair. Master Scratch’s unique abilities to explore and uncover various objects in this music-infused adventure.

The villain Snatch The Rat has shattered Scratch’s irreplaceable record collection and scattered the pieces across the world. It’s up to you to track them down! Collect the Record Fragments to unlock new levels and restore harmony to the world. Along the way, solve puzzles, navigate tricky platforms, collect Juke Bucks for Jukie the Jukebox, help quirky characters, and ultimately bring the groove back to Melotropolis!
Snatch’s rowdy crew of goons and bosses are ready to challenge you! Each boss encounter blends platforming mastery with rhythm-inspired mechanics, keeping you on your toes. Dodge, counter and use Scratch’s versatile moves to outsmart your foes. Liberate allies like the starfish people, collect rewards, and prove to Snatch that his plan to mute the world doesn’t stand a chance!
Step into a world where music is life - literally! From the bustling streets of Melotropolis to the serene shores of Arpeggio Archipelago, every corner of this vibrant world pulses with rhythm. Discover lands infused with sound, where flora and fauna move to the beat, and technology hums with harmony. Your adventure will take you to lush jungles, underwater caves, volcanic peaks, and beyond - all bursting with musical energy.
Express yourself with a variety of customization options! Change Scratch’s look by unlocking unique outfits to personalize your journey. Player expression is at the heart of Scratch’s adventure - make it your own!
The soundtrack is a celebration of music as a medium in the context of a classic 3D action-adventure platformer, highlighting the variety and diversity of genres and instruments. Vinyl scratching is mixed in with unconventional genres and instruments, creating a distinct “Scratch The Cat” sound.

MatchUp May & Scratch’s Cat-titude
Though we usually hide from the sun behind our screens - busy grooming Scratch the Cat here at the FlatPonies stables - we’ll soon be opening the stable doors to gallop into the summer sun.We promise not to stall for too long; we’ll be back in August with exciting news and fresh updates. Before we trot off to frolic, here is a quick look at what we've been up to throughout May and June!Copenhagen MatchUp: Connecting the DotsOur General Manager, Julie Heyde, and Writer & Communications Manager, Julie Hindkjær, recently headed out to Copenhagen MatchUp - one of Denmark’s go-to events for connecting local indie studios with international publishers and investors, hosted by Games Denmark. The day kicked off with an opening welcome from the Danish Minister of Foreign Affairs, Lars Løkke Rasmussen, highlighting the growing value of the gaming industry. Overall, we learned a lot, met some amazing developers, and left feeling truly inspired. Connecting with other studios and showing off Scratch was an absolute blast, and the energy there was completely unmatched. Not very cool, if you ask our Animator, Nanna Lundin. She has been hard at work giving Scratch some serious DJ flair and pizzazz. Before pushing any pixels, Nanna gathers inspiration from real-world, emotion-packed faces.“When I've settled on an expression that would suit Scratch, I go to town to make him communicate that emotion as closely as possible,” Nanna explains. “All in all, I think I've had to make almost every expression at least 20% cooler. There's a heavy focus on getting the eyes to have just the right curve and placement. A tiny tweak, and suddenly there's a whole new emotion!"But as ...Read full article on Community Announcements (hindkjaer)AnnouncementsOfficial
Curiosity Improves the Cat
Debug & Deploy: How player data is sharpening Scratch’s movesSoftware, much like a cat, is constantly adapting to its environment. Every jump, fall, and collision in our closed demo leaves a trail of data behind. In this month’s newsletter, we’re following that trail with our programmers to uncover the "silent" improvements being made to the game based on the patterns our playtesters left behind. We’re heading behind the scenes with programmer Jesper Andersson to see what really happens under the hood at FlatPonies. It turns out, making a cat jump to the beat involves a lot more than just pressing "play."The Secret Life of a ProgrammerBehind the vibrant colors of Scratch The Cat lies a world of automated tests, code maintenance, and analytics. Jesper sums it up as a job of many hats:"If I'm working on gameplay features there's usually a lot of back and forth with designers; seeing what’s fun, what’s not fun, if everything is looking like the design-sheet, if there’s any oversights with the design-sheet... the list goes on!"Jesper stress-testing a new feature after being told: 'Just play naturally... but also play for the camera... but also forget the camera exists.'The Legend of the "Humble Bouncepad"You might think programmers only love complex systems, but for Jesper, true beauty is found in simplicity."A feature I'm really proud of is the humble bouncepad... It’s a small script, only 50 lines of code, but it’s fun, it’s versatile, it’s used by our designers frequently and it rarely comes up in a bug report \ I love you, bouncepad. You would never betray me."Making Sure "Dead Bugs Stay Dead"To keep the game running smoothly, we have a dedicated PC in the office that runs roughly 900 automated tests every single evening. "We add to it whenever we encounter a 'spicy' bug that is annoying to fix, making sure that dead bugs stay dead," Jesper explains. This allows the team to make big changes without accidentally breaking Scratch’s ability to jump or slide. But not ever...Read full article on Community Announcements (hindkjaer)
