About this game

Summary:
This is a solo indie edutainment game with real benefits! You can learn facts about the solar system and science as you play! Planetary Settlers is a family friendly video game about exploring the solar system. Experience realistic gravity as you control Blue 42 on each planet, completing mini games, uncovering secrets, and completing quizzes to enhance your abilities as you explore and help humanity reach out into the solar system!

Early Access:
Planetary Settlers is playable, with many more features in development, and you have the opportunity to suggest additional features and provide other suggestions to guide the future of the game. I currently have the inner solar system, with a level each for Mercury, Venus, Earth, the Moon, and Mars. The sun, Jupiter and Pluto have also been added, with the rest of the planets on the way.

Planned updates:
  • Add a level for each of the other planets (done), as well as Pluto (done), some of the more notable moons, and more!
  • Add text color customization option
  • (Done) Add more minigames to each of the existing inner planet levels.
  • (Done) Add a leveling system (e.g. more nanites gives more powerful abilities)

Details:
Planetary Settlers is currently in development. Take control of an advanced AI robot named Blue 42, and explore the vast solar system, to include the different planets and many of the moons. Explore our possible future in the year 2142, with realistic environments based on imagery and data we have gathered on the various planets and moons. Gravity is accurate, when you jump, throw a rock, or fly, you will experience the actual gravity of the planet / moon.

Blue 42 has the following features, which can be enhanced through collecting more nanites:
  • Various technologies to shield against the harsh environments of space and various worlds, to include extreme heat, extreme cold, low pressure, high pressure, corrosive chemicals, radiation, and harmful dust.
  • A color customizable light, with adjustable brightness
  • An color customizable projectile generator, a "gravity probe" to see the effect of gravity on each world, and to have fun with. You can even make the projectiles glow a color of your choosing. More nanites allow you to increase velocity
  • Treads, to move along the surface. Can be adjusted to go very fast if you collect enough nanites!
  • Tread jumper - Jumps by launching the treads down quickly (sort of like how a grasshopper hops). Power can be boosted to allow you to leap over a building!
  • Jetpack to fly!
  • Grabber beam to hold and release large objects. Note: It is fun to throw things by grabbing them, running at high velocity, and releasing, or by grabbing, rotating quickly and releasing.

This game is being developed first for Windows PCs / laptops, but I plan to expand into other languages and other platforms later.

    Ghost hunt

{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/32762462/a681346d568ab19983c7d5b486953e7f224b50d7.jpg There is a ghost somewhere out there! See if you can find it and post a screenshot in the community page to win. The elusive ghost has gone by for years unspotted, though it is rumored to be on a planet that is red. There are also rumors of old video footage of the ghost as well, some where out there. If you are able to find the ghost, post a screenshot for a reward - I plan to add an in game chest for everyone if the ghost is found!

    Steam Deck Support Added!

I have tested Planetary Settlers on the Steam Deck, and it works! I created and added a custom Steam Deck controller configuration that is used by default. A big thanks to Darth Ukar for letting me use his Steam Deck, and publishing the controller configuration to make this possible! Controls are mapped just like they are for a controller now, and the menu is touch screen, or you can use the mouse cursor to navigate the menu. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/32762462/424baac83cdc9cd5b4e4a72cbd6541b8301f91d8.jpg

    Venus Sky City

{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/32762462/6a983bbbe68c6690c67c58b4400e1beb807dda2b.png Visit the new Venus Sky City in this new update! It is a repairable city - you can repair the fan propellers, windows, and ship, and you earn ability points for doing so! It is made of a very light weight material, similar to Styrofoam, but far more durable. There are a number of coins and codex pickups there as well. To return to the surface of Venus, just jump down, and fall to the ground. The city itself resides in a relatively habitable zone, which is true to life - there really is a relatively habitable area in the upper atmosphere of Venus where the temperature and pressure are decent. It is mostly CO2 there though, so you would have to bring your own oxygen, and protection against the traces of sulphuric acid. It would certainly be an interesting area to explore, who knows - life may exist in this upper atmosphere of Venus. Here are some more images of the city: {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/32762462/93a67857f5b688f91951d754f3ae902981462a00.jpg {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/32762462/4ce32b5096b1063bb5de2559cded58a92b8ea97c.jpg {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/32762462/186bf56de55dae7d98ab6f88302882638c8ea63f.jpg

    April Fool's Event

{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/32762462/161c47330dfa20936646d87847d428e5262dde8e.png There are a number of jokes in Planetary Settlers, some of which are around all the time, and some of which show up only in April! If you find a joke (big or small), take a screen shot and share it on the community page! Every joke found between now and the end of April will increase the in-game reward to be added in-game for all players! I plan to deliver a chest to the Mobile Research Station on Earth, depending on how many jokes people find. The type of chest depends on the number of jokes found: No jokes found = a regular chest to be delivered to the Earth Mobile Research station in game, and more jokes found increases the level of the chest. 1 joke found and screenshot shared = a bronze chest 2 jokes = a silver chest 3 jokes = a gold chest 4 jokes = a diamond chest Every 5 jokes = another chest, with like upgrades per extra joke found. Note: I have been busy working on another level area that I plan to share soon in an upcoming update as well!
