About this game

  • Score points by hitting bricks.
  • Bricks will sometimes drop buffs and debuffs to your game.
  • Some add extra balls, change speed, alter paddle size, or add shields.
  • Buffs that are caught by the player will cause the game to adapt and drop more counters, so learn to dodge!
  • Each ball present in the game multiplies a brick's score value, so learn to juggle!
  • The speed of a ball can further double the value at max speed, so learn to juggle faster!
  • Persistent game mode where more bricks spawn, death rains on you, and you try to last as long as possible.
  • More features, game modes, levels, and mechanics will be released in free content updates indefinitely.

    Level editor has been released!

I've finally managed to push out the level editor for Brickfest into the main release, along with some UI changes and improvement. I feel like I should mention at this point that updating Brickfest with new content and features is a rather cumbersome process. The reason for that is because as I was making the game, I was also organically learning the Godot engine and good coding practices along the way, so there is some sloppy code of mine that I have to deal with. However, my skills have improved a great deal since. As such, I'm strongly considering just rebuilding the game in the newest version of the Godot engine. Doing so would ease the process of adding more content and updates. Hopefully that will be a practical endeavor. As I try to do that I will come to know if it ultimately is. In the meantime, enjoy the new level editor and, as always, feedback is encouraged.

Status update on the level editor

https://steamcdn-a.akamaihd.net/steamcommunity/public/images/clans/32622012/f82317d6b5a54936e72372244ca93efeee43da08.png Hello, I know I set my goal for the level editor to be done before the beginning of August, but for a variety of reasons it's going to take a little longer. Basically, other life activities took precedent and making the editor turned out to be a little more complicated than I thought. Nevertheless, I have the very basics of the editor working in the testing branch of Brickfest You will be able to place objects, alter their properties, alter coloring, and export. Most of what needs to be there is there, but the UI still needs refinement, there needs to be an option to load created levels, workshop support, and various other things here and there. You can try out the level editor in its current state by downloading the testing branch of Brickfest. Right click the game in Steam, go to properties, go to betas, select the testing branch and use the access code "LAKEWOODCIRCLE". As always, feedback is encouraged.

Progress is being made on the level editor

I have not forgotten about the things I promised for Brickfest, so I just thought I would share a progress snapshot of the upcoming in-game level designer. My goal is to have it completed and released before August starts. https://steamcdn-a.akamaihd.net/steamcommunity/public/images/clans/32622012/9b8ebc314f25e616afe5c3ca323f01b07b547aca.png

    Brickfest 1.4.0

Version 1.4.0 has been released and with it some bug fixes, 4 new unusual levels ('MURICA, Killer Clown, Caution, Checkerboard), and an overhauled level browser that is hopefully more to everyone's satisfaction. The next update I'm going to be focusing on making a level designer. It's about time that such a feature gets implemented, but it may take some time. I want to give players plenty of options as well as enable workshop support. As always, feedback and suggestions are encouraged and let it be known if there are any technical issues overlooked!
