About this game
Honey, I Joined a Cult is a tycoon/management game where you must build and expand your base, supervise your cultists and resources, and increase your faith, funds and following!
MANAGE YOUR CULT
Effective management is at the heart of every money-making enterprise and your organisation is no exception! Being snappy dressers isn't enough, your cult must run like a well-oiled hypno wheel. Set schedules for your cultists, develop their skills, level them up and manage food and maintenance systems. Assign tasks to your cultists based on a priority system. So who said that micro-management doesn't work?!
BUILD A BASE FOR YOUR CULT
Every great cult needs great interior design. Place, design, and decorate rooms to keep your cultists happy. There is a whole host of weird and wonderful room options and objects, each with a vital role to play in your cult. From polygraph rooms, discombobulator, and spirit chambers to energy spas and the dreaded ministry of alteration.
CUSTOMISE YOUR CULT
A cult is only as good as its name (and its followers!). Choose yours wisely when picking for your cult, cult leader, the Divine Being that they worship, the Holy Room in which they prove their dedication and the followers that will become the cultists of tomorrow! Make your cult your own by deciding on:
*A funky symbol
*An epic uniform to impress would-be followers
*An imposing hat to make other cults jealous
*A strange relic to worship and adore
CARE FOR YOUR CULT
Cultists have needs too and you'll have to ensure that all of yours are fed, watered and having lots of fun! You must take care of your cult's physical and mental well-being to allow them to be the best cult members they can possibly be! It is as they say, cult is only as strong as the cultists!
LEAD YOUR CULT
Your cult leader can be very demanding. Whether it's recruiting specific followers or building certain rooms, be sure to bend to their every whim. Not fulfilling demands will lower their mood and a displeased leader won't be able to perform effective sermons. Cultists can be sent on missions in the local town. Whether it's gathering resources, unlocking new tech or just a demand from your leader, the Covert Ops room is the perfect place to plan!
GROW YOUR CULT
Use all your charms to recruit new followers, who will bring in resources and eventually climb through the ranks to become full cultists. Discontented followers will simply leave, so be sure to turn that frown upside down!

A Quick Word on the Future of Honey, I Joined a Cult
Hi everyone,We’ve been reading through the forums and the recent comments, and it’s clear that many of you are wondering what’s going on with Honey, I Joined a Cult. Specifically, we’ve seen the word "abandoned" pop up quite a bit. We wanted to step in, clear the air, and give you an honest update on where things stand. The Journey Since 2017First off, we want to reassure you: we haven’t abandoned the game. HIJAC was our first "baby." We started this journey back in 2017, and at the time, we were learning everything from scratch—literally learning to code, figuring out everything about game development, and building a community all at once.It was a massive undertaking that took years of blood, sweat, and tears to move through Early Access and finally into a 1.0 release. We are incredibly proud of what the game became, and we haven't forgotten the support you gave us to get it there. The Reality of a Two-Person TeamAs many of you know, we are a tiny team of just two developers. While we have a huge amount of affection for HIJAC, the reality of being a two-man band is that we can really only "spin one plate" at a time. For the past while, our focus has been entirely on our new project, Space Scum. We did previously have some external help brought in specifically to keep things moving on HIJAC, but for various reasons, that arrangement didn't quite work out as we’d hoped. That left us in a position where we had to make a choice: do two things poorly, or focus on one thing properly. What Happens Next?Because we want to give Space Scum the best possible launch, it is currently taking up all of our development time. However, that doesn't mean the book is closed on HIJAC.Our plan is to return to HIJAC in 2026, once Space Scum has been released. We know it’s frustrating to wait, and we know it’s been quiet on this page for a long time. We aren’t trying to be defensive or dismissive of your concerns—we genuinely appreciate that people still care enough about the game to ask for ...Read full article on Community Announcements (Sole Survivor Games)Patch NotesOfficial

Incoming Patch (and further content tease)
We're admittedly a bit rusty and slow at the moment. Some of the code we're back tinkering with was written by us half a decade ago, and some of the people that helped out with said code are no longer around, BUT we have got together a patch to fix some of the most pressing issues that you've raised. There's a brief summary below: Changes/bug fixes Fixed crash after promoting a follower. Fixed crash after sacking cultist. Fixed crash after growing plants in the Arboretum. Fixed crash that may occur after removing all traits of Cultist in Ministry of Alternation. Power to the People Achievement now tracks Influence gained whilst at the Influence cap. Fixed certain incorrect descriptions e.g. Maggot Rejuvenation Therapy Upgrade had incorrect description in Research menu. Removed certain "placeholder" text in non-English versions. e.g. Biscuit Stealer Leader Demand pop-up window contains debug strings in all non English languages. Fixed inconsistent references in Lost Property mission choice. Fixed issue in Explorer event. Fixed issue in Lost Property mission choice. Fixed description of Team Morale Boost being inconsistent. Fixed issue with "Begin Mission" tooltip. Fixed issue in Almighty Effigy quest. Updated the credits to recognise our previous Community Support Joe, who somehow got missed off of the original credits (sorry Joe!). Patch is still in QA but will be incoming shortly (we'll make another announcement when live). There's also further content in the pipeline. We've put a teaser below: {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/32574327/c9e644df116f2e4eacd214cdeda848626522e585.png{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/32574327/75f2c19ff49cf480b1f3e083df8060a407b5f4bc.png{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/32574327/f3dc4a7bf743cc81bd7f48a7ce2de8a0aab38733.png Peace and loveRead full article on Community Announcements (Sole Survivor Games)AnnouncementsOfficial
Still here!
Hello there, It’s been a while. We want to apologise to you all for the lack of updates/communication on HIJAC. Rest assured, we have not abandoned it and are now working on the next update. So why the lack of updates? Firstly, HIJAC took a very long time for the two of us to make (ridiculously long, it’s actually pretty embarrassing). It was our first game and we had to learn everything from scratch, such as coding, how to make the artwork etc. When we finally released into 1.0, we were quite frankly, a bit frazzled and burnt out. We needed a bit of time to ourselves… But not THAT much time to ourselves! After a bit of downtime we started to work on our next game, which is what has taken up the majority of our time. We made a conscious decision to not try and juggle two games at once until we got to a certain milestone with our new project. We’re arrived there now (as usual, it took longer than expected). So we’re now going through the mother of all to-do lists and working our way through all the bugs/suggestions/messages that you’ve sent us since the last update. More to come!
