About this game

Space Flowers is an intra-galactic tradewars game. You start with a basic starship at a friendly starbase. You can buy a variety of different flowers to sell elsewhere and then begin exploring the galaxy looking for other starbases to trade with. Some are friendly and will trade with you immediately. Some are hostile and will attack your ship if you enter their systems. Others are more or less neutral and will react based on your actions. You can also attack hostile starbases and engage in combat with them to gain experience and valuable items in the debris you salvage from their destroyed ships. Destroy enough enemy ships and the system will surrender to you and become one of your allies. You can also peacefully ally with star systems just by trading with them enough. Every transaction you make with them will raise your influence with them until they eventually ally with you.

There are also specialty starbases you can find that will sell parts to upgrade your starship. You can upgrade your engines, weapons, shields, armor and firing control. As you gain experience, you will find out an alien presence is starting to invade and take over starbases in the galaxy. You will need to deal with this threat as well.

You have also learned that your long lost family has been scattered among the stars. You will be provided clues as to where they are located, and you can choose to search for them as well. Every member of your lost family is unique and brings an extra bonus that will help you in your mission.

The ultimate goal is to ally yourself with every starbase in the galaxy through trade or warfare. Use skill and cunning to find the most profitable trade routes, deliver specialty goods for additional profits, and accumulate funds to upgrade your ship to advance in rank from a lowly bud to the ultimate Star Flower! Whether you advance peacefully or through warfare (or a little of both) is entirely up to you.

Kaylie S. Wins Cheyenne Space Flowers Competion

Kaylie S. won first place in the Space Flowers competition last Saturday with an overall time of 2hrs and 37minutes. She had the good fortune of having several high value trade routes near the center of the map to start the game, and stumbled upon 2 relatives (including her grandfather) in the first 30 minutes to quickly open up many trade routes. After quickly amassing a small fortune, she concentrated on allying as many systems as possible before the first change over. After upgrading her engine to speed 10, she managed to get 18 systems allied in the first hour. She then used those influence points to search for lost relatives. She managed to locate 5 relatives in the first 6 systems she tried. Ignoring the Baby James systems, she upgraded her weapons, shield and armor and then purchased the pirate bait from The Junkyard and went grinding for power absorbers. She parked her ship 600k outside a red system and kept luring in pirate ships until she had collected another 20 or so cargo holds and a red power absorber. She then moved outside a blue system and destroyed pirate ships until she had a level 1 blue power absorber. Then she went straight to the first bably James purple system and camped outside of it and collected level 2 and 3 blue and red power absorbers. Another quick upgrade to a level 4 attack console, and she then hit a few level 1 and level 2 systems that immediately surrendered to her... by the end of the second hour she had 38 allied systems and all of her ship systems at level 4 or better. She then used indirect influence to bring the last 8 systems up to wary, and began trading with them to finally win the game without having to fight the remaining systems. All in all it was a great run for her... congratulations kaylie! :)

    Space Flowers News

Space Flowers received a few minor changes this week including some variable changes to improve game play. Family member quests were updated to give more information in order to help locate them. - finding your father now gives you unlimited fuel for your starship - disrupter costs were lowered - the number of enemy star systems you need to capture to get weapon upgrades has been lowered - some of the artwork was redesigned and/or replaced - the introduction section was reworked to add the additional game information I hope these changes make the game more exciting as some upgrades and quests now occur earlier in the game. It now takes a little less than 3 hours, on average, to finish all quests and play a complete game. Thank you for playing... as always, any comments and/or suggestions are always welcome. If you think of anything you would like added or changed to the game, just let me know and I will consider it :) ~Jim

Update 1.5 - DISRUPTERS! Now live...

Upgrade your ships' weapon systems with both standard and overloaded disrupters!. These direct fire weapons do not do as much damage to enemy ships as your torpedoes, but they travel much faster... and they get a boost in power each time you upgrade your weapons level. Great for sniping at the random pirate ships you will encounter! Disrupters can be purchased from The Junkyard if you have a high enough influence level with the station... and all family bonuses that effect the photon launchers will also improve your disrupters. Your weapon will automatically upgrade as you increase your weapons level (up to a max of 4 at weapons level 5)… Once you have 50 ship kills, you will be able to buy the hot pink disrupters... Other stuff: - random clues were added to help on quests to find lost family members. The name of the flower race and the quadrant of the starbase they are located on are now stored on the player status page as the information is gathered in the game. - changed a few more graphic items... Thanks for playing and keep the suggestions coming! ~Jim
