About this game
Project Scrapper is a casual 2D beat-'em-up where players weaponize physics to compete against other players in various game modes.

Fight against other players in 4 game modes
Play how you want to. Combine game modes to make things as simple or complicated as you prefer. Modify game physics to increase the chaos
12 character customization options, all available from start
Local splitscreen or online
Fight against other players in several game modes
Scrapmatch - An elimination game mode with a Project Scrapper twist where players destroy the map to knock each other out
Collection - Gather as many cubes as possible in your collection area and steal cubes from other players. The more cubes, the faster your score goes up
Hat Stack - A test to observe asset gathering AND protection, Scrappers will gather hats from throughout the level. Similar to Collection, players are incentivized to collect as many as possible. However, the more hats they collect, the higher their hat stack will grow, and the higher a hat stack, the harder it is to protect
Intrusion - Deposit blocks in your opponents' collection areas to take away their points. Each block deposited explodes shortly after, knocking away players and other objects. Last person with any points remaining wins
Play in maps with game mechanics specific to each
Testing Facility - Four walls, and nothing else. A standard map (or as standard as it is in Project Scrapper) for those who like the simple things.
Wrecking Ball - A variant of Testing Facility that contains an anti-gravity wrecking ball that can be manipulated using rivets to destroy the facility's walls
Solar - Jump from planet to moving planet, dodging asteroid storms and avoiding the incineration at the hands of the sun (Scrapper bots are durable, but not that durable)
Playroom - Two rooms connected by a regularly opening door. Each also contains a toy chest that spits out toys
Towers - Two office buildings with multiple rooms to divide players until destroyed. As well as a lot of office supplies to throw at each other
Pipeworks - A larger map with pipes around the borders that can transport objects and a button that creates TNT, useful for blowing up opponents.
Spaceship - Steer a spaceship through space using control levers. As the ship accelerates, players and the ship's contents are jostled accordingly. Equipped with two airlocks to dispose of unwanted contents (such as other players)
Ball Pits - Navigate through four connected rooms filled with plastic balls. Hide from your opponents in the ball pits, lose them in the rooms, or even prepare an ambush while unseen

Project Scrapper is leaving early access!
On April 10th, Project Scrapper will be leaving early access with a $1.99 price tag. I originally put Project Scrapper up for free to collect feedback, and I feel comfortable with the state that it is in now. Ideally, I would like to continue providing additional content, but it will be harder for me to commit enough dev time in the future to do so, and Project Scrapper as it is now is in a state that encapsulates what I originally set out to do: a chaotic party game that is fun for a group of friends to pick up and waste some time with, even if its only an hour or two. So I would like to put a bow on it, if only so people aren't left waiting for a mere possibility of content in the future.I will be regularly monitoring reviews and feedback that comes through to polish the content that is currently available, so please feel free to leave a note, good or bad.Should I make any further updates to Project Scrapper, they'll be part of the same Steam package; anybody that currently owns Project Scrapper will receive those updates as well.Happy Scrapping!Read full article on Community Announcements (Whale Snail)Patch NotesOfficial
VFX update, main menu change, and minor bug fixes
Since content update #1 came out last Wednesday, I have been working on some visual changes to add visual feedback and some additional color and minor bug fixes.Main Menu UpdateThe main menu now uses a Solar-based theme (with a little Darwin bot orbiting the sun), adding some much needed color to the main menuNew VFXThe first two changes will hopefully improve your play experiences with some additional visual feedback, so the instances of you wondering "what the heck just happened?" will occur in a more positive context. The next two changes will hopefully just make things look a little prettier (just as important)Now when a rivet attached to a component block, collection token or intrusion token is activated, the block's center flashes red then transitions back to its original colorAdded a connection indicator that displays between rivets in a pairUpdated player rivet activation effect (very sparkly now)Updated collection area border effectMinor Bug Fixes and ChangesPlayers should no longer "bounce around" when inside a planet on SolarIncreased saturation in TowersDecreased compression on clouds in TowersAutomated doors in Spaceship no longer stretch into attached block as they openFixed unusual gravity rivet interaction with detached levers in SpaceshipRead full article on Community Announcements (Whale Snail)Patch NotesOfficial
Content Update: Part 2
Hey, everybody! The second half of Project Scrapper's first content update is now live! In addition to the quality of life changes released a few days prior, players now have access to two new maps and one new game mode. I'll be covering each in more details now.First, I just wanted to say thank you to everybody who has tried Project Scrapper, and an extra big thank you to everybody who left feedback. Every piece of feedback that comes to me has been greatly beneficial to improving Project ScrapperSpaceshipSpaceship is a large map separated by door controls. These doors open automatically for Scrapper bots and only Scrapper bots; as you manipulate items throughout the ship, you'll need to think carefully on how you go about it.The spaceship can also be controlled using the controls at the top and bottom. As the spaceship accelerates, its contents can be jostled accordingly. If its accelerating to the right, objects on the ship can be sent flying in the opposite direction. Players will also notice that jumping can be affected as they are pulled along. Finally, the airlocks to the left and right can be initiated with the levers in each corner. Players can manipulate these levers using their rivets or by pushing them manually. If both levers for the respective side are engaged, the airlock gradually opens with its contents (including Scrapper bots) eventually being sucked out into space.Ball PitsBall pits is a large map divided into smaller rooms. Scrapper bots can only view the room they are currently in, making it easy to lose track of your testing adversaries and objectives if you aren't careful.Further complicating matters are the plastic balls littered throughout the rooms. If a bot dives into the pits, they are obscured, providing them a hiding spot. Though as bots move in the pits, the balls be disturbed by their movement, giving away their location.IntrusionIntrusion is a game mode that is effectively the inverse to Collection. Scrapper bots are trying to preven...Read full article on Community Announcements (Whale Snail)Patch NotesOfficial
Content Update: Part 1
The first half of the the new content update is live now! This includes basically everything except for the new maps and new game mode. Rest assured that the second half of content (the two new maps and new game mode) is on its way! I simply had these items in a solid state, and wanted to give you all a little something to tide you over (also there's quite a few bug fixes that should dramatically improve your gaming experience). Now let's go over the detailsCombined Game ModesThe game mode select screen now includes a new option, Combine Modes, which can be toggled on and off. While on, any modes the host selects from then on will be added to the combined mode. When playing with a combined game mode, players compete for each included mode; if you win ANY of the modes, you win the round. So if you're playing with all three modes and you collect 50 collection points, collect 50 hat points OR are the last person standing on the map, you win the round. Additionally, if you include Scrapmatch with any other mode, the component blocks are unlocked and can be removed with rivets just as you would if playing Scrapmatch by itself.Online Character CustomizationCharacter customization has been added to online lobbies. When finished with customizing lobby settings, hosts can move to a character customization screen in a similar process to the offline lobbies. Each connected player will be able to select an outfit. Also added player readying functionality for online lobbies in this screen. When a player is ready to start, he or she can toggle their ready status, and when all players are ready, the game will start.Lobby CustomizationAdded a new option to lobby screen that opens new screen that allows the host to configure additional settings.Randomization Lists - A list of toggleable options for both maps. When playing with random maps, only enabled options from this list are selected. If you want a randomized selection, but don't like some maps, you can disable them here, and th...Read full article on Community Announcements (Whale Snail)Patch NotesOfficial
Upcoming Content Update
Announcing: Project Scrapper's first content update! There's been a lot of radio silence for Project Scrapper, and I hope the wait has been worth it, as I am now announcing Project Scrapper's first content update. There is a lot of new features to look forward to, and today, I'm going to be talking through what to expect. Before I do, thank you to everybody that has tried out Project Scrapper and doubly so to those who gave, give or will give any feedback.New MapsSpaceshipScrapper bots will continue their zero-gravity analysis by flying across the stars in a spaceship. A large map, players can manipulate the spaceship's course using the levers in the upper and lower control rooms. Warning: manual spaceship piloting will cause untethered objects to accelerate accordingly, possibly dangerously so. The spaceship is also equipped with two airlocks to the left and right. Take care when accessing the airlocks' contents to ensure that other test participants do not initiate the ejection sequence.Ball PitScrapper bots will test their navigation, stealth and environmental detection abilities in the ball pits, a series of four conjoined rooms. Participants can dive into the eponymous ball pits, being submerged and obscured as a result, though the balls will shift as players and objects move about. Participants will also only be able to view the room they are currently located within. If you are searching for another participant, be sure to stay hot on their tail as you can quickly lose sight of each other. Will you take advantage of the balls' cover? Maybe set up an ambush? And as you move, can you quickly identify your target before being accosted?New Game Mode and Combining Game ModesIntrusionCollection is about gathering as many tokens as possible in your own collection area. Intrusion is about the opposite, placing as many tokens as possible in opposing participants' collection areas. Each test participant will start with 5 points. Should an intrusion token (the aesthetic ...Read full article on Community Announcements (Whale Snail)
