Navigate through Rhythm Doctor's challenging levels by synchronizing your defibrillations to patients' heartbeats. Developed by 7th Beat Games, this free-to-play indie game blends strategy with music for a soothing yet intense experience.

About this game

Save lives with your spacebar!

Rhythm Doctor is a rhythm game in a world where defibrillating patients' hearts in sync with their heartbeats has healing properties. Slam your spacebar in perfect time on the 7th beat, and they might just come out okay. But beware - every patient has unique illnesses based on complex music theory: polyrhythms, hemiolas, irregular time signatures...if you don't know what they mean, don't worry. Rhythm Doctor is designed to make you learn music and rhythm theory without even realising it!

  • 20+ handmade levels, each with their own story.
  • Every level introduces a different concept of rhythm theory in an accessible way
  • A large cast of doctors and patients feature in an overarching, character-centric storyline
  • Play the story solo or grab a friend for drop-in drop-out local multiplayer throughout the whole campaign!
  • Robust level editor to make, share, and play community levels! Use your own music, place notes snapped to the beat, and use 50+ different visual effects and backgrounds
  • Challenging "Night Shift" versions of each level for the brave

(Note: 2P mode only works locally. Online 2P via Remote Play is enabled for this game, but it does not work that well right now due to varying latency)

Rhythm Doctor features flashing lights and colors. Please use caution if you have experience with epilepsy or any of its symptoms.

Mastering was done by Riya. Both FLAC and MP3 files are included. It includes 64 tracks of music found in levels, menus, and cutscenes. It includes both English and Chinese versions of several vocal songs ("All The Times", "One Shift More", "One Slip Too Late", "Something To Tell You", and "Helping Hands.")We also included a bit of bonus content, including:Instrumentals for some of the vocal songs (FLAC)Some sheet music for Distant Duet, Corazones Viejos, Lucky Break. These were only the ones used by the performers, for curious people, and are not comprehensive!A lot of people were asking for way to buy an album, so we hope you enjoy. Sorry it took us a little while to get it all together. You can also find it on Bandcamp, if you prefer! Just like making the game, making this album was a long journey and a labor of love. We're still working on a couple things for the game itself, but that's all we have to announce for today. Thanks for playing!

We're even in a bundle with them if you want to receive a discount. Check it out!Rhythm Weightlifter NewsYou can now play Rhythm Weightlifter, the polyrhythm-centric minigame from Act 5, as its own standalone game! We've released it on mobile (iOS and Google Play) as a free game. When you beat it, you unlock the new Infinite Mode. Let us know how far you go!Game Improvements and ChangesThe game has been migrated to Unity 6 from an older version. Ideally, this shouldn't change anything for you.To improve our development workflow, this will be the last version where we will be delivering 32-bit builds for Windows. We’ve observed Steam stats and there seem not to be any more people using 32-bit computers in our userbase.Rhythm Weightlifter: Added infinite mode, plus many small improvements.Pause Menu: Item height has been increased for better text legibility in certain languages such as Polish and Spanish.Misc UI improvements.Level Editor Improvements and Changes\ Most properties (intensity, color, etc) in the Set VFX Preset can now be disabled, similar to other events. Disabled properties remain unchanged, allowing each property to be eased individually\ Most presets now start at 0% intensity instead of 100%. This means that enabling an event and easing it to 120% will ease from 0-120 instead of 100-120. Old levels using this behaviour will automatically have the oldVFX...

Version 1.0.4: Fixes and a New Accessibility Feature

Hello interns! First of all: a huge thank-you to all of you for the support and kind words we've received since our 1.0 launch! It's been great, and surreal, to see everyone's reactions to the end of the story and the very ambitious final boss that we worked on for a long while. As you might imagine, most people on the team have been taking a well-deserved rest and getting back to work at their own pace. Aside from some quick bug fixes, we haven't really made any big changes to talk about.Although we're done making Acts of Story Mode, there are still some standalone levels that we're working on. One of them is a collaboration with Beatblock, which we recently posted a teaser of.Today's update includes a new Accessibility setting, various fixes to Story Mode, and a bunch of new options in the Level Editor. We look forward to supporting Rhythm Doctor bit by bit throughout the year with smaller updates like this! New Accessibility Setting: Reduced FlashingIn this patch, we've added a Reduced Flashing setting in the Accessibility menu. It weakens and reduces the amount of flashy effects across Story Mode, like full-screen white flashes. This will hopefully make the game much more comfortable to play for players with photosensitivity. To be clear: this setting reduces many instances that may cause eyestrain but does not remove every effect that may cause eyestrain entirely. If you've played the game, you'll know how intertwined some of the effects are to the overall experience and concept of some of the levels. Our goal is to reduce overall eyestrain while still retaining animations and distractions in the levels, so that users of the setting don't get a lesser experience. Players who struggle with epilepsy should still exercise caution while playing the game.As with all of our Accessibility efforts, this will be an ongoing project and an ongoing conversation. If you try the setting, please send us feedback on what you think about it. You can let us know what you think on ...
