About this game
Annwn is an abstract stealth strategy game about making decisions under pressure, played across a series of bleak and lonely procedural islands.
You are a disembodied soul, able to dissolve and recreate elements of this mist-shrouded archipelago. Absorb the energy of trees and rocks, and use it to create totems which you can possess...anywhere that you can see the floor. Pump more energy into a totem to raise it higher before transferring your soul to it. Ascend the hills but watch out for the slowly revolving Watcher, who will try to redistribute your precious energy across the landscape. Consume what life you can find on the landscape before ascending to absorb the Watcher itself and move on.
- Tense, fast-paced gameplay
- Infinite variety of procedural islands
- Improve your abilities by absorbing Watchers
- Other, undocumented mysteries await in the Otherworld...

Patch NotesOfficial
On sale with new balance improvements!
Annwn is in the Winter Sale with 60% off! To celebrate the dark of the year, we have another patch. Many players have commented that Annwn gets too easy towards the end. Update 1.5 addresses that with some balance tweaks and new challenges. Energy drained faster on more difficult islands Watcher is sometimes accompanied by TWO Hunters instead of one The final Watcher is particularly tricky, reach the end of a campaign to find out why ;) Upgrades repriced to use XP, so you can't grind early levels to upgrade any more Memory stones grant you a point of XP to spend on upgrades Memory stones now non-interactive for 2 seconds, to make accidental draining less likely Another attempt to fix the pesky floating tree, shout if you see it in this build! Existing players will not lose any of their upgrades or achievements, of course. But if you don't like these changes you can still play v1.4 which I have now dubbed the "Classic" version. Go to Properties -> Betas and enter "classicannwn" to unlock the classic branch.Read full article on Community Announcements (Quantum Soup)Patch NotesOfficial
Achievements finally working! (v1.4)
Finally fixed the achievements and overhauled all the icons! Unfortunately the issue was that I wasn't saving achievement stats and so you will have to earn most of them from scratch. A fully upgraded skill tree should instantly give you three achievements though, that WAS saved. Other fixes: - Spawn position shown on island preview as a white flame - The floating tree should now be gone (I've not seen it but shout if you do) - Minor cosmetic tweaks Sorry to have left it so long, but I hope you enjoy firing it up again and earning the achievements you so richly deserve. Now that the most egregious bugs are fixed we're looking at adding some new stuff, as a treat...Read full article on Community Announcements (Quantum Soup)Press Coverage
Annwn: The Otherworld is The Sentinel with Celtic ghosts and a demo
While it has technically been floating around Itch for a while, I’ve been sadly ignorant of Annwn: The Otherworld until its Steam release last night. Quantum Soul have produced a spooky Celtic take on intense 1986 stealth-puzzler The Sentinel, a formula that (from my noodling around with its demo) still holds up after thirty-three years. Players control a spirit in the underworld, unable to move, but able to drain energy from trees, then spend it on creating higher vantage points to teleport to, aiming to ultimately destroy the watchful eye scanning the horizon for you. Annwn released!
Annwn is on sale with a 20% launch discount! Please let me know of any issues at support@quantum-soup.com - I'll be doing a series of updates to add some peripheral features that I couldn't complete in time for launch, like Steam Achievements, cloud saves and localisation (technically working but haven't had the strings translated yet). I will roll any bugfixes into those updates over the next few weeks. Thanks for your patience, and I hope you enjoy exploring the Otherworld... https://steamcdn-a.akamaihd.net/steamcommunity/public/images/clans/31716140/84557486672f1d6e6752b71b389672c87f74006c.pngRead full article on Community Announcements (Quantum Soup)AnnouncementsOfficial
Two weekends, two shows!
It's been a manic fortnight! Annwn was exhibited in the Leftfield Collection at EGX Rezzed and then at Wales Comic Con a week later. https://steamcdn-a.akamaihd.net/steamcommunity/public/images/clans/31716140/c3f25b27bf8a2fea5e22e0d82335c16bb4d3f030.png What went wrong? ...last minute changes and poor testing left me with an EGX build I had to restart after each play... ...tutorial unclear... ...balanced far too difficult for most players... ...not enough time to play other games... ...failed to contact press ahead of time... ...meetings during show meant I had to leave the game unattended for long periods... ...broke the build AGAIN for ComicCon... What went right? ...lots and lots of useful feedback... ...detailed discussions of game mechanics and narrative theme... ...met many other devs... ...meetings at EGX were good... ...games I did get to play were inspiring... ...fixed the ComicCon build on the show floor... ...loads of help from the graduate teams at Glyndwr University... ...and the sun shone! What's next? A new demo build incorporating feedback from both shows. We now have a Discord group for Annwn ...which would be a great place to share feedback on the demo. And today saw my retrospective on The Sentinel published - the game that inspired me 30 years ago. Wishlist the game, join the Discord, keep in touch! The shores of Annwn await you...Read full article on Community Announcements (Quantum Soup)
