Navigate through puzzles and battles as you explore a steampunk mansion in Trials of the Gauntlet. Your electrified grappling hook arm helps solve mysteries and face off against the mad scientist who gave you this new appendage.
About this game
In Trials of the Gauntlet, You wake up in the courtyard of a Steampunk mansion, your arm replaced with an electric grappling hook. You use your new arm to solve puzzles, traverse the mansion and fight your way to the top of the clock tower where you confront the mad scientist who did this to you. Along your way, you uncover the story as to what's really happening in this mysterious mansion.
This Metroidvania Platformer features:
-Average of 1.5 hours of gameplay.
-Collectible journals to uncover the story-line as you go.
-Collectible gears that can be traded for other items at the shop.
-Hidden chests and areas to keep the competitions busy.
-Three enemy types and two bosses.
-Parallax Scrolling environment.
-Electric mechanic with breakable electric items and coil powered puzzles.
Broken Dinosaur Studios is an indie team of student game developers, designers, artists, musicians and creative writers, some of which, currently attending Full Sail University. "Trails of the Gauntlet" was our mid-term project and took 3 months from concept to completion.
We all learned a ton from working on this project; especially about working in a group. Our scope was ambitious but we made it happen! As we continue our accelerated degree programs at Full Sail, we will likely put any spare time we have into future projects. For that reason, please consider this project complete and see past the "known-shippable" bugs if and when you find them.

Steam Release Today at 8am EST!
Good Morning Everyone, Just to clear up any confusion that may occur: The time of scheduled release says midnight, but the Trails of the Gauntlet will be released at 8am (Eastern Standard Time) on Friday the 16th. Thank you for all of the support and enthusiasm over the game! You all are amazing! We couldn't have asked for a better community! As a note to anyone new to the Trials of the Gauntlet, this was our midterm project for the B.S. in Game Development at Full Sail University. Our assignment was to create the game from concept to completion in 3 months, so we had to prioritize our bug fixing to the moderate and critical only. You will likely encounter graphical bugs while playing, such as the when you die in mid air, the death animation will play, and your character will float gently toward the ground in a pool of his own blood. XD We hope that the community will forgive and embrace the graphical bugs like this, and please let us know via Contact@BrokenDinosaur.com if you run into any critical bugs that make you angry! (There are none to our knowledge) Thanks again for all the good vibes as we debut our first shipped title even before graduation!
