Behind the scenes of Mukti – Pushing the boundaries of next-gen gameplay

Hello gamers and tech enthusiasts from around the world!Mukti is not just a game, it’s a statement. It’s our promise to deliver a visually breathtaking, high-fidelity experience that pushes both storytelling and graphics to new heights. And today, we want to open the curtain a little on how we're achieving that.Built on Unreal Engine 5.5 - Leveraging technology with precisionMukti is developed on Unreal Engine 5.5.2, with a transition to 5.6 on the horizon. But instead of blindly adopting every shiny new tool, we’ve integrated Unreal’s next-gen technologies through the lens of real production experience knowing where they shine, where they strain, and how to make them work for us. Here’s how we’ve strategically leveraged core systems to push Mukti’s visuals while keeping it optimized for both PS5 and PC:Nanite - Intelligent use of virtualized geometryNanite unlocks the ability to use film grade assets directly in gameplay without traditional polygon budgets. But we’ve taken it a step further by redesigning our mesh pipeline, refining our topology standards and tuning topo density thresholds across different assets. This ensures Nanite is applied smartly where it has maximum visual payoff without overburdening the system. Our geometry workflow is now lean, predictable and stunning in motion.Lumen - Full dynamic GI across the entire gameMukti uses Lumen’s fully dynamic global illumination and reflections throughout the entire game. Not a single light is baked. From cinematic interiors to vast sunlit landscapes, every light source is live and reactive. Thanks to careful level architecture, material setup and performance tuning, we’ve achieved our visual fidelity targets without sacrificing frame rate even with 100% dynamic lighting.Megalight - Next-gen lighting, customizedWe’ve migrated to Megalight as our core lighting system, and we’re actively shaping it to match Mukti’s scale and mood. Our team is currently optimizing its integration to ensure we get the richness o...

Welcome to MUKTI - Our Story, Our Dream

Hey folks,We’re incredibly excited (and a little emotional, honestly) to welcome you to the world of Mukti, our indie narrative game that’s been years in the making. If you’re reading this, it means the world to us. You’ve either Wishlisted the game already (huge thank you ❤️), or you’re curious enough to check out what this is all about. So let us tell you...What is MUKTI?MUKTI is a deeply personal narrative exploration game set in a fictional Indian museum. You play as Arya, who steps into this world looking for answers and what she finds is a story far bigger, darker and more human than she expected. At its core, MUKTI is about liberation - from systems, from silence and from stories that were never told. It's a first-person exploration game set against the rich tapestry of Indian heritage, offering players a deep dive into a mystery that bridges the past with the present. As Arya Roy, you return to Mumbai, driven by concern for your grandfather, Vikram Roy, only to find him missing. What begins as a search for a beloved family member evolves into a gripping investigation into a controversial excavation trip in the Sundarbans, West Bengal, where Vikram hoped to uncover artefacts from the Pala Dynasty. Why This Game? Why India?A lot of the world knows India through stereotypes - spiritual tourism, loud colors, slums, scams, snake charmers and biryani. But India is also memory, architecture, forgotten genius, ancient science, modern tragedy and untold resistance. We wanted to make a game that doesn’t caricature - but brings you closer to a world we know intimately. A story where the silence of a corridor tells you more than a thousand lines of dialogue. For more on the gameJOIN OUR DISCORD What’s Next?Over the next few months, we’ll be sharing:Dev diaries and behind-the-scenes shotsSound and voice design updatesLocation breakdowns and character introductionsReflections on storytelling, Indian culture and building original IPs from scratchWe’ll keep it real.
