Embark on a chilling journey where every decision matters as you explore an unsettling environment and confront your deepest fears. Prelude pushes the boundaries of psychological horror, demanding both courage and insight from its players.

About this game

30% of the revenue from sales will go to a charity every 2 months

In the last couple years many things happened in my life, my dad had a heart attack which he survived, and my mom had two surgeries, one of which was for cancer, thankfully she overcame it.

We overcame all of that together but all of that changed me and made me more thankful with life.

SO, MAKING THINGS SHORT, every two months I'm gonna donate 30% of the game's revenue to charity for cancer research, you can also vote and choose for another charity where I can donate.

That's all, thank you

[READ ME] YOUR FEEDBACK IS IMPORTANT

Hey guys. As you may already know, the game is in Early Access because the game is still in Pre-Alpha stage.

The story for this Pre-Alpha version is not the same as the one for the final version of the game but it's related, it tells a little about what the game is all about, you can call it Chapter 0.

Every new update, however, will be different from the last... a new iteration with different scenarios, environments, stories, experiences... each more gruesome than the last.

The story for the final game is already written but I want to make sure you have the best horror experience you can possibly have, this Pre-Alpha (and future updates leading to the final build) have the purpose of experimenting with your fears, make you feel fear in a way only few horror games do, I want this game to be unique.

YOU (THE COMMUNITY) MATTER, unlike other developers, I do listen so... talk to me, tell me your experience. Did i, fail making you feel horror? Why? Tell me how you feel about the game, I'll listen to all of you and make sure the next time things get more... gruesome.

That's all for now folks, have a great day/night!

And if you download this game, I hope you enjoy!

Cya! You'll hear from me again soon!

About the Game

This is the Pre-Alpha release of the game and does NOT represent the finished product. It's at a very early development stage so that means I'm open for suggestions for the next Alpha releases leading to the beta and final game.

Remember, YOU, the player, are the most important part of this project, your review/feedback will determine where this game will go.

I'm always active on forums and social media so I always listen to everyone's feedback, don't be shy to message me addressing any bug or stuff that should be changed.

Prelude is a psychological horror survival game, where you play as a guy who wakes up in a mysterious town, not having any idea of who he is and where he is.

Going from house to house, from place to place dealing with many horrid things along the way trying to find a way out.

The focus of this game is not using the same route as other classic horror games but to do something new, give you the feeling of hopelessness and fear of the unknown and unfathomable. Trying to survive in this world that was once the place you called home, completely isolated from friends and family, stuck in this infinite loop of despair and fear just looking for a way out of what you could call a nightmare.

You will have to figure out ways to overcome obstacles and also venture into the deepest darkness in order to advance, the game doesn't just focus on creatures chasing after you, it focus on making you lose your mind, slowly and steadily. Every inch of this game will attempt to crawl under your skin and make you feel like you're in a living nightmare.

The game will not just have random horror elements, each element will have a story, meaning or a hidden message that might either tell you more about the character's story, give you clues to advance through the game or tell you something... darker. The game will attempt to make you feel many kinds of horrors, including those of phobias, the feeling of being watched, of being chased, that your death is close and will be inevitable, make you feel like you're nothing but a tiny being in the vast sea of infinity.

The journey will get worse as you move forward and the player will eventually see the truth... and the rest is for you to find out for yourself.

    UPCOMING UPDATE & NEWS

Hello everyone, it's been a while hasn't it? Well, I've been reworking some of the ideas behind this game, stepping up the game, trying to take it to the next level. Now, what do I mean by "taking it to the next level"? Well, the first level I released with the game sucked for everyone, I tried to make it purely psychological which, to no surprise, was clearly not well received by almost everyone... the second level went from that to a more direct threat, it was better received but was still not good enough since it was too short. What I'm trying to say is that I've been making countless iterations of the level I promised I'd release next, trying to do something better, something scarier and more threatening to the player, which is why I haven't released it yet. I won't say an specific release date yet but I think I got what I wanted for the next level so I think it's safe to say I'm going to release it this month. Because of these delays, I also decided to drop the game's price to $1.99, the game is not complete yet and, unfortunately, it won't be complete any time soon, so it's would be unfair to ask for full price, this is another complaint I've been receiving so I already addressed it. I'll try to keep you posted more often, sometimes I get home tired from work and I either rest or focus on working on the game so I tend to forget to post anything but I do check almost everyday to see if there's any new comment or post. It's been a bit rough, with my full time job, not having a team or someone to work with, plus being married (lol) dividing my time to work on the game has been a nightmare but I'm still hanging in here. Keep posting reviews good or bad, post threads, write comments, anything it can help me make this game, YOUR game, better. Have a great day everyone!

    BACK

Hello everyone! I just want to announce that I'm back and resuming my work on Prelude. The last few months I encountered some technical issues, having lost my desktop computer, I had to save up to replace the damaged pieces, don't worry, no damage at all to my work so I can resume it! Now, the promised new chapter is near completion, so you can expect it really soon, I will announce it as soon as it's up. Regards to everyone!

UPDATE #2 STATUS - JUST KEEPING YOU POSTED GUYS

Hey everyone! Well, I think it's obvious the second update with Part 2 hasn't come out yet. Well I'm sorry, I did say "hopefully come" after all... a few unexpected things happened, I'll keep it brief: 1.- On Thursday 19 in the morning my grandfather (my dad's dad) passed away so we went to his hometown that same day, we came back home until Sunday 22 2.- Because I didn't go to work for 3 days (Thursday, Friday and Saturday), I had to compensate time staying extra hours 3.- I made a huge mistake the last couple weeks keeping my PC on almost all day to use it via TeamViewer when I'm on my afternoon break (which i most of the time spend in the office because my house is far, and no, my laptop isn't strong enough to use unity) and the power went out in my neighborhood, and since my PC was on it shut down and some files got corrupted and it took me like 4 days to finally make the decision to reinstall windows (my computer has two hard drives so I didn't really have to move any unity project folders and some software that is portable like blender), the files corruption didn't really affect much of the functionality of the computer but it did mess up two important things, it made my internet not work after a couple minutes AND it kinda messed up unity, for some reason some letters in some words were gone, apparently just lowercase letters AND it would fail to compile the projects into playable builds (see the pics I took of both things) https://steamcdn-a.akamaihd.net/steamcommunity/public/images/clans/31101506/8c79335dab6a8144f199b49d159e7ddb92e9790d.jpg https://steamcdn-a.akamaihd.net/steamcommunity/public/images/clans/31101506/94671eb573d7a264f00836f4563bb7e44c6b3da6.jpg So yeah, the last two weeks have been crazy, I already have completed the most important things of Part 2, which is the scene and i also wrote the whole story for it, I just need the time to actually program it, time I had this weekend to finish a couple things, so just hang in there, the update is sti...

    [UPDATE #1] - CHANGELOG

Hello gals and pals, well, this week's update is already up and working here on Steam! Here's the list of changes for this update: New level: "Chapter 1 - Pt. 1" Minor changes to pause menu Changes to main menu, now the list of backers on the credits section is updated and looks more clean and organized Fixed a bug where the statues on "Chapter 0" were hard to pick up The new level is shorter compared to the previous ones BUT it's much more appealing... now the "run" function will have more use than just to move faster on an empty field. This new level has more action because that's how I originally intended it to be, each level WILL scale up the fear factor and the ways the game messes with you, this is a PSYCHOLOGICAL horror game after all. Chapter 0 was perhaps boring but it had a purpose, a purpose you will understand in the future as I release the next levels, this one however, will definitely raise the bar for what you truly expected from this game and believe me, each update will just get worse. Keep in mind that these levels are just brief stories and they do not represent the actual levels that will appear in the FINAL version of the game, these levels have the very specific purpose of putting together a message that might just be useful for the actual campaign, in more than one way. I'm actually working on the actual campaign in parallel with these small chapters. That and the fact that I work 10 hours a day and also work 6 hours on Saturdays on an actual job (I can only work on my games at night and weekends) I don't earn much here since my games don't sell much, I didn't even reach the minimum to get paid on March and I have rent, bills and food to pay, I'm almost 26yo after all are the reason I am slow and that makes people think I'm "a liar who doesn't care about this game and makes false promises of updates that will never come"... well, here's the update and more are coming, oh and for those who know about it, I'm no longer taking care of my grandma,...
