A true hidden gem. — randomized0000

As far as Chip's Challenge like puzzle games go, Blackshift is probably the strongest one I've played. — Asp

The Level Pit

Make your own levels with the built-in level editor, and upload them to the Level Pit where other people can play them. There are thousands of user-created levels in the Pit, each with its own leaderboard. You can even watch replays of other people playing your levels. The Editor and the Pit are both built into the game; you can do everything from within Blackshift itself.

    The Radiant Update

Graphical Changes Added a new lighting system called "Radiance". Makes stuff look nicer but if it's too heavy on your machine you can turn it off in the options. Renamed the "Glow Effects" option to "Bloom". Added a bit more variety to the soil tiles. Bug Fixes Fixed a bug where, if you managed to destroy a silicon crystal with an explosive, the game could wrongly record which silicon crystals you collected. Fixed a bug where if you enabled the Level Pit Timer it would sometimes not be enabled when you quit and ran the game again. Fixed a bug where the framerate would sometimes drop the first time you saw certain objects. Fixed a bug where Blackshift could sometimes crash on exit. Graphical Bug Fixes Fixed a bug where there would sometimes be gaps between a level's outer walls and the surrounding decorative terrain. Fixed a bug where the particles dropped by the glowing maze-runner enemy would draw above it. Fixed a bug where, when the game started up in full-screen mode, the white outline of a window would be visible while it loaded. Fixed a bug where switching off "Glow Effects" (now "Bloom") would make some things look too dark. Editor Changes Added a new tileset for the walls. You can choose it for your Level Pit levels if you like, using the "Walls" selector in the "Info" window. The maximum map size is big but not infinite. The editor now clearly shows you the maximum map boundaries if you build a level big enough to get near them. Fixed an editor bug where copying or moving chunks of the level with the Select tool close to the maximum map boundaries was glitchy. The editor now recalculates the maximum map boundaries when you delete tiles from your map. The origin cell, which the maximum map boundaries always include, is now marked with an O if empty. Holding Space to pan the view now also works when the Select tool is active. Level Pit UI Improved performance of scrolling in the Level Pit while level previews are being rendered. The Level Pit browser now cach...

    Blackshift 2.5.6 Released

Fixed a bug that stopped one of the new items introduced in the last update from being unlocked. The Mac version no longer supports Apple's Game Mode. I'm sorry, the popup is just too annoying.

    Blackshift 2.5.5 Released

Bug Fixes: Fixed an editor bug where, if you placed an enemy gate, then placed some enemies, then deleted the enemies, the gate would open and would never close again. Fixed a bug where, if the last diamond in the level disappeared by being overwritten by a copier, the diamond gates would show zero but not open. Fixed a design bug in level 6/4 that let you skip a puzzle. Graphical Changes: Reduced the prominence of dark spots in the soil texture that could look like holes even though it's just normal ground you can drive over. Added an option to turn on Triple Buffering. Added an option to use multi-threaded rendering. New Editor Stuff: Added the item from one of the very secret levels that turns you into a bullet. It's unlocked if you've beaten that level. If you've beaten the other very secret level, this now unlocks another item in the editor. It's not something that appears in the level, or in the game at all, it's just something I thought might be fun. Mac-Specific Changes: Removed OpenGL support. Blackshift now declares itself a game, so MacOS will run it in Game Mode.
