Houston, We Have Spinach! challenges you to build and pilot rockets using unconventional resources in this early access adventure simulation. Explore a vast galaxy filled with peculiar worlds, all while managing your spaceship's diet of spinach and other edibles.

About this game

Design and build rockets, and fuel them with food. Explore a galaxy filled with strange planets.

As a rocket designer and space explorer, your success will depend on exploiting nutrients in a variety of foods to power your space ship. Unlock new parts to build multistage rockets.

Gameplay: Design and build rockets in the hangar, using a variety of parts -- boosters, fuel tanks, capsules, couplers and special modules -- that snap together. Load fuel into your rocket using a grapple-equipped copter. The fuel for your rocket is food; each rocket booster type has different nutrient requirements so you must choose wisely! As you progress you'll find obstacles you must overcome while fueling. Once the rocket is ready, choose a mission to earn bonuses and blast off. Escape into orbit to travel to strange new planets with new challenges!

    Alpha 0.2.0 Live!

http://cdn.akamai.steamstatic.com/steamcommunity/public/images/clans/30938049/3f39e328a33517fc86f9bd64278b67fb62ca4d63.jpg Today's update focuses on the mission control screen, specifically on mission details which are important if you want to complete the mission and earn the bonus. Now, instead of presenting the details on an optional second dialog (which apparently no one bothered to read) the details are spelled out clearly when you select it. Also, importantly, if your rocket does not have the necessary parts to undertake the mission, the "accept" button will not be available. The other significant change for players is that it is no longer mandatory to select a mission in order to test foods with one of the flyable testers. Instead, you can test any food in one of the testers by flying to the designated altitude range indicated by the colored band in the left hand panel. When the rocket enters that altitude band, hit "test" in the stages panel. The same instructions apply for missions to test specific foods. Finally, in appreciation of our Kickstarter backers, the named comets, satellites, ufos, planets and food trucks now appear in the credits scene. Thanks for playing!

    Alpha 0.1.24 live -- Finally!

Alpha 0.1.24 took much longer than expected to come out. The principle work involved a complete rewrite of the file save system, with an eye to much better future backward compatibility. Unfortunately, we hit a lot of unexpected bumps along the way delaying it much longer than anticipated. Steam cloud saves are now enabled, meaning your game saves will be available on any of your machines with Steam installed. Also, your preferences -- audio and the like -- are now honored between playing sessions. With this out of the way, we look forward to getting back to adding more content!

Notewothy: this update contains the first 2-pin parts -- you'll need the right connectors in order to add them to your rocket. Also: two new classes of fin parts give thrust bonuses based on the presence of certain nutrients. For example, the D-Dyno Fin gives a significant thrust bonus if the food/fuel has a significant amount of Vitamin D. Happy New Year!
