About the Game
Voxel Tycoon is a management sim set in an infinite voxel world. Mine resources and process them into goods in your custom factories. Set up supply chains and passenger routes with a huge fleet of trains, trucks, and buses, and help small towns grow into prosperous megacities with a thriving economy!Transportation
The game has more than 50 vehicles representing eras from steam to electric, including locomotives, railcars, trucks, semi-trailers, buses, multi-unit speed trains, and more.
Every vehicle has its own unique properties that you should take into account when buying and building consists. Thanks to our physics simulation, vehicles behave differently based on their weight, the type and amount of cargo they carry, motive power, and grades.
Flexible scheduling allows you, among other things, to select exact tracks where trains should arrive at stations, or choose which specific railcars should load or unload at any given stop. You can give mass orders using Routes, or set up individual tasks for each vehicle on your roster.
Bridges, tunnels, and a signaling system give you more ways to build and expand your transport network.
Factories
Organize mining with mine shafts, then process raw materials using crushers, furnaces, refineries, and other machinery.
Complex production chains require complex logistics! Design unique factories of your very own by connecting machinery, buildings, and storage facilities with conveyor belts.
Fund and supply research of new technologies, unlocking new buildings, production chains, and vehicles.
Infinite World
Explore an endless, procedurally-generated world filled with unique biomes, from deserts to arctic tundra. Unlock new regions to find rare resources and new development opportunities. The world is vast, so you’ll never run out of space.
For the most successful tycoons, we include full-featured terraforming: turn the world into exactly what you want, all according to your perfect plan! Keep in mind, however, it might cost you a fortune.
The world is not limited to the classic top-down Tycoon view. Free Camera mode allows you to immerse yourself directly into the action. Fly around in first person for gorgeous views, get a closer look at production chains, and even ride around on your trains while they do their job.
Economy
Every city has its own needs, which you can fulfill to kick-start growth. The bigger a city gets, the more customers and passengers move in, meaning more potential profit! The growth of a city doesn't simply increase the quantity of goods required. Higher stages of development move away from the basics, requiring more complex and expensive products.
Keep in mind that the values of goods are not constant and depend heavily on your actions as the supplier. Higher demand leads to higher prices! As a last resort, you can always help cities and businesses solve their financial problems directly by investing funds in their development.
Don’t focus all of your efforts on freight only — people have destinations to get to as well! Manage passenger flow between cities, and don't forget to treat passengers with care: different passengers are all heading to different places.
Moddable from Day One
Voxel Tycoon is developed with rich extensibility in mind. Many aspects can be modded: from changing existing config files, to adding new vehicles and buildings, resources, production technologies, research, and other supported content, to writing custom logic using C#. The game is bundled with modding tools.
We support Steam Workshop as the easiest way to deliver plenty of community-made mods to you.

RRR: Closing the Gaps
Hey! We want to give a small follow-up on the Rails and Roads Rework and clarify where things stand right now. In the previous development update, we showed the direction of the new system and some of the features it makes possible: level crossings, more flexible junctions, better road connectivity, one-way roads, support for future systems like pipes, and more. Since then, the core construction flow has continued moving forward. At this point, basic construction in the new system is working. That is an important milestone for us, because this rework is not just a visual change or a new building tool. It is a replacement of one of the oldest and most limiting parts of the game. What is holding us back right now The main remaining work is making the new system complete enough to be playable in real situations, not just in isolated test cases. One of the biggest parts of that is bridges and tunnels. In the current version of Voxel Tycoon, bridge and tunnel construction is one of the least obvious parts of building. With the new system, we do not want to simply recreate the same limitations with a nicer interface. We want bridges and tunnels to feel like a natural part of construction. https://voxeltycoon.xyz/assets/posts/rrr-closing-the-gaps/14.png This is more complicated than it may sound, because the new system allows much more flexible layouts. Bridges and tunnels are no longer limited to simple straight pieces. They can be curved, and they can also include junctions and crossings. That gives players much more freedom, but it also creates many more edge cases that need to work reliably. The other big area is performance. The old system relied much more on pre-made pieces. The new system generates geometry on the fly, which gives us a lot more flexibility, but also makes rendering more demanding. We are already working on optimization in parallel, but there is still more to do before we are comfortable putting this into players' hands. https://voxeltycoon.xyz/asset...Read full article on Community Announcements (Voxel Tycoon)Patch NotesOfficial
Development Update: Rails and Roads Rework
https://voxeltycoon.xyz/assets/posts/2025-winter-development-update/1.webp As the year comes to an end, we wanted to share the current state of the Rails and Roads Rework and what it enables going forward. Below is a look at some of the things currently coming together. Some important pieces have finally clicked, which lets us move forward with much more confidence. Why the Rails and Roads Rework exists https://voxeltycoon.xyz/assets/posts/2025-winter-development-update/9.png For those who joined us recently, it’s worth explaining why this rework is happening at all. The original rails and roads systems quickly reached their limits, to the point where adding things like level crossings, more complex intersections, or multi-lane traffic would have meant piling more special cases and compromises on top of an already stretched, but quite rigid foundation. RRR is about rebuilding these systems properly so rails, roads, and related infrastructure (such as conveyors and pipes) interact consistently, scale better, and support features that were either impossible or extremely fragile before. This is not a set of incremental tweaks on top of the existing systems. It’s a full rework, which means that many of the current rails and roads features have to be carefully migrated and adapted to the new foundations rather than simply extended in place. In terms of complexity, this puts us in the same problem space as large transport and city-building games, particularly when it comes to procedural geometry and systemic interactions between networks. At the same time, Voxel Tycoon has an additional constraint: everything is tightly bound to a grid. Making systems of this complexity work reliably within those limits is a significant technical challenge, and a big part of why this rework takes time. It’s also worth saying that Voxel Tycoon was our first game of this scale. With the knowledge and experience we had at the time, building a system like this simply wasn’t realistic.
