About this game

Set in England during the mid-19th century, Blackberry Honey is a tale about maids, music, and unexpected romance.

The story begins when our heroine, Lorina Waugh, is fired from her previous position as a maid in the stately home of Hartwell. With a large family back in Liverpool to support and a string of unsavoury comments circulating about her rather sudden dismissal, Lorina’s search for a new place of employment leads her to Bly.

Forced to work for fourteen hours a day, with little chance to rest, Lorina is bullied by the senior maids and, most embarrassingly of all, by the twelve-year-old daughter of the Lennard family, Lady Constance.

One of the only maids who deigns to speak to Lorina is the mysterious Taohua – but Lorina wishes she wouldn’t. Despite her lowly status, Taohua has her own private bedroom, never goes to church with the rest of the servants, and rarely interacts with anybody. Her aloof, almost cat-like personality, coupled with her peculiar complexion, eyes, and name, have inspired more than a few rumours around the Shropshire countryside that she might be a witch.

Lorina knows she should keep her distance from Taohua, and she wants to most desperately… but maybe there’s a pinch of truth to all the rumours, because she soon finds herself under the older woman’s spell.

  New build has been released

  Hi everyone, I know it's been a while, but I thought I'd give you an update. It took me longer than it probably should, but I've pushed a new build of Blackberry Honey on Steam which fixes up some stuff, including: - fixes to a variety of interesting typos people have pointed out over the years - some slight edits to a few transition effects - a couple of updated sound effects - a rehaul of how side sprites are defined in-game, so they should dissolve in and out more smoothly - a fix to a bug which could brick your save when saving on a certain in-game day while playing with Japanese text enabled The game should also be compatible with the Steam deck now, though Steam hasn't reviewed the new build yet, and I should have fixed a bug which prevented the game from opening on Linux. The game should be more polished now. I hope that more people will be able to enjoy Blackberry Honey, and thank you for your support over the years! It's appreciated! For a brief while the VN was able to hit the much coveted overwhelmingly positive review threshold too, which was very satisfying to see as a developer. This is one of my older VNs and I think my writing style has changed a bit since I worked on BH (and I've definitely gotten better at coding lol), but I'm very happy so many people have enjoyed and engaged with this story despite some of its shortcomings. I'll keep working hard to make more VNs that people can (hopefully) enjoy! - ebi

  Sequel game to Blackberry Honey, Bittersweet Blossoms, is now finished!

  Hi everyone! I'm just making a quick post to let you know that my newest yuri visual novel, Bittersweet Blossoms, is now finished 🎉Bittersweet Blossoms is a sequel to Blackberry Honey, as you should be able to tell from the title of this post haha. It's a bit of a strange sequel, in that it's set a good 50+ years after the events of BH and features a (mostly) brand new cast of characters, but I think it does a good job wrapping up some loose plot threads from the end of BH regardless. Bittersweet Blossoms features a slowburn romance between a mistress and her maid! The VN isn't out yet, but I'm hoping to release it at the end of June!   The Demon Queen's Dire Dilemma will be released soon!

The VN is mostly finished, and a near complete build has been approved for release by Steam. The VN just needs another round of quality checking, and then it can be released!   Cute yuri visual novel Out of the Ocean has been released!

  ​Hello everyone, I'm making an announcement to let you know that my cute yuri visual novel, ​Out of the Ocean​, has been released! It's pretty sweet (though there is a little dash of drama), and I'm very happy with how it turned out! It's actually one of my longest yuri visual novels, since it sits at around 150k and it has multiple choices/endings, so that's exciting hehe :) If you like this sort of format, please let me know. I've been thinking about making some more long yuri visual novels with multiple heroines, choices, and branching, so if this visual novel does well, I might create other VNs like this in the future with longer, more detailed routes.
