In Mercury Fallen, manage your sci-fi outpost as you dig deep into an alien planet’s surface, expand across the terrain, and unravel its secrets.

About this game

Awaken. Rebuild. Explore.

After a long journey to a distant planet, your colonists were supposed to wake up and begin building their new home. But something went wrong. Their stasis capsules malfunctioned, and when they finally awakened, the underground facility they were meant to inhabit has fallen into ruin.

Now, it's up to you to restore the base, manage resources, and expand across the planet’s surface—all while uncovering the secrets of this alien world and ensuring your colony thrives.

Mercury Fallen is a self-paced sci-fi colony management experience with a focus on exploration, expansion, and story-driven progression. Deconstruct the remnants of an abandoned facility, construct new rooms, conduct research, and grow your colony both underground and across the planet’s surface.

Tear down the ruins, scavenge resources, and transform the underground into a thriving colony. Design essential rooms, power systems, and infrastructure to support your growing population.

  • Uncover additional colonists, robots, and discoveries hidden in collapsed sections of the Mercury Facility.

  • Build and manage power and water resources to sustain your growing colony.

Unlock advanced technology, craft vital upgrades, and send colonists on daring expeditions to uncover alien artifacts, lost technology, and the secrets buried beneath the planet’s surface.

  • Research technology to unlock new rooms, crafting recipes, crops, and facility upgrades.

  •  Discover alien plant life and new resource types to fuel your colony’s expansion.

Expand beyond the underground with surface expeditions and resource extraction.

  • Construct vehicles to explore alien terrain and extract rare materials.

  • Expand your power network above ground with multiple energy generation methods.

  • Send colonists to explore points of interest, uncovering new resources, hidden lore, and lost technology.

Every colonist has a story. Some will thrive, others will struggle—but they all rely on you. Keep them housed, happy, and well-fed while managing their quirks, relationships, and unexpected disasters. As your colony grows, expand your workforce with clones and automated robots to optimize daily operations.

Key Colony Features:

  • A Colony That Feels Alive: Colonists have unique quirks, moods, and challenges. Keep them happy, or risk disaster as stress builds and problems arise. Manage colonists’ injuries, ailments, jobs, quirks, and needs to ensure long-term survival.

  • Build & Design Essential Spaces: Construct bedrooms, recreation areas, crafting stations, and more to meet the growing needs of your colony.

  • Customize your Colonists: Give your settlers unique names, outfits, and equipment, making each colonist truly your own.

  • Cultivate Alien and Terrestrial Crops: Grow a variety of terrestrial and alien crops to sustain your colony and fuel advanced production chains.

  • Expand Your Workforce: Grow clones and assemble robots to expand your facility population.

  • Brace for the Unexpected: React to and prepare for random events, including cave-ins and crop disease.

Procedurally generated worlds ensure a fresh experience each time, while Steam Workshop modding support lets you expand and customize your gameplay. Dynamic events introduce unexpected challenges and opportunities, making each colony feel unique.

Every colony tells a different story. Will yours flourish or fall? With procedurally generated worlds, dynamic challenges, and a blend of underground base-building, planetary exploration, and rich storytelling, Mercury Fallen is an ever-evolving adventure—whether you prefer a laid-back experience or a challenge that keeps you on your toes.

    Happy Holidays!

Howdy Folks!Happy Holidays and a Merry Christmas to you all! It has been an incredible year, and I want to extend a warm welcome to everyone who joined the Mercury Fallen community recently. Running this project as a solo developer is a deeply personal journey for me; it’s a passion project I pour my heart into, and nothing is more rewarding than seeing players enjoy the experience.PACK :: Post Apocalyptic Cleaning KitI’ve been working on a new game that recently launched in Early Access. While it’s a departure from Mercury Fallen, it belongs to a genre I’m equally passionate about. It also narratively exists in the same universe as Mercury Fallen. I’ve always found cleaning and restoration sims incredibly relaxing, and I’ve truly enjoyed crafting this new experience. PACK supports both single-player and co-op play. If this sounds like something you’d enjoy, please feel free to check it out! :)Support & Follow Mercury Fallen On Twitter | Facebook | Website | Discord | Merch | Patreon

    PACK Development

Howdy Folks! As you may, or may not know, I'm currently developing PACK :: Post Apocalyptic Cleaning Kit. I’ve had a few people ask me why I’m working on such a different kind of game so I thought I would provide an answer for anyone curious.I began development of Mercury Fallen in late 2016 and it was released into early access in late 2017. In late 2023, after many many updates, the game was released out of early access. The development of Mercury Fallen took a long time, but as a solo developer I’m proud of what I created. I learned a lot about game development, but also a lot about project management. Two major things I learned are scope and scale. I had a general goal in mind when I began developing Mercury Fallen, but the scope wasn’t entirely clear which led to some longer development times and uncertainties along the way. The game also changed course based on player feedback, which was expected and great to have community involvement. Mercury Fallen became bigger and took longer than expected. There were many times where it was hard to know what “finished” meant for Mercury Fallen as new features could have continued to be piled on indefinitely. On a personal level I wanted to complete Mercury Fallen and work on something different, something with a smaller scope and scale.PACK :: Post Apocalyptic Cleaning Kit is a first person cleaning simulation game where you take on the role of a robot cleaning and restoring various locations after the fall of mankind. PACK was better planned out from the beginning to have a more clear scope and a smaller scale. As the game is broken into separate levels I was able to pre-determine the amount of content I wanted to deliver. Even before I started serious development, I already had a sense of what “finished” meant. I know the general scale of the game and, for the most part, what it will take to complete. So basically I’m working on PACK because it’s another genre of game that I personally enjoy and a project with more clea...
