About this game

Deep within one of the SCP Foundation’s emergency containment sites, a catastrophic containment breach leads to multiple SCP subjects being released from their cells. With containment compromised, facility personnel rush to evacuate while waiting for Mobile Task Forces to arrive and restore order, but with the Class-D population running amok in a desperate attempt to escape, along with the involvement of the Chaos Insurgency, the fate of Site-02 remains uncertain.

SCP: Secret Laboratory (SCP:SL) is a free-to-play multiplayer horror game where you must escape from fearsome entities, or fight to secure a facility under the control of the SCP Foundation, an organisation which seeks to secure and contain anomalous items and creatures in order to protect humanity. These objects, or SCPs, range from mundane-looking items with extraordinary effects, to horrific abominations capable of bypassing the most impenetrable containment methods the Foundation puts in place.

Throughout the game, you will witness the perspective of the 5 different human classes, each trying desperately to survive. These include:

  • Scientists: Foundation personnel caught in the midst of the chaos, they must work with Facility Guards and the Mobile Task Force while using their equipment and wits to escape.

  • Class-D Personnel: Prisoners and test subjects using the breach to their advantage, they start with nothing and will do anything it takes to escape from the Foundation.

  • Facility Guards: The woefully unequipped first responders who must help the Scientists escape, prevent the Class-D from escaping, and hold back the SCPs for as long as possible until the Mobile Task Force arrive.

  • Mobile Task Force: Specialised re-containment agents sent into containment breaches to restore order and eliminate threats, they are tasked with assisting in the evacuation of Scientists and taking down anything that poses a threat to the Foundation.

  • Chaos Insurgency: Soldiers of an unknown directive, who are ordered to attack major Foundation sites and terminate all Foundation personnel. They also aim to rescue Class-D Personnel in order to gather useful information from them.

Site-02 is a sprawling maze of different zones. Light Containment Zone, where Scientists and Class-D Personnel reside. Heavy Containment Zone, where the SCPs are contained. Entrance Zone, where Facility Guards are stationed, and Surface Zone, where the evacuation point is located, along with the insertion points for Mobile Task Forces and Chaos Insurgents. The site is prepared for these breaches, containing numerous emergency measures — from Tesla Gates able to electrocute anything caught in the blast, to emergency bulkheads able to temporarily hold back threats from a fleeing target, or even the on-site nuclear warhead capable of vaporising the entire underground section of the site.

Despite all the security precautions and safety measures, Site-02 is not impenetrable. Fight alongside and against other players in order to help the Foundation restore containment and order, sabotage the site as the Insurgency, or kill everyone as a SCP in a murderous rampage.

    SCP-953 Model & Abilities Showcase

The next permanent playable SCP has been a long-awaited addition that many of our players have been anticipating. As revealed in our devlog, that addition is being brought to Megapatch III with SCP-953. This deep dive will go through an overview of the abilities and gameplay of the next addition to the SCP roster. Note that anything shown below is subject to change, so details will be kept brief. Essence and Polymorphic Properties Content from: Onion & Mikel — Game Design, syuzhet — Modelling, Purplegoop — Animation Essence is a new resource bar unique to SCP-953 and is used for most of her abilities. Essence will begin at 0% and generate passively while disguised up to 50%. Every additional human near SCP-953 will add to the generation of Essence, and a small amount is gained for every point of damage dealt by a human to SCP-953 while disguised. SCP-953 will be unable to passively gain Essence for the first 90 seconds of the round. Disguises Spawning At the start of the round, SCP-953 will spawn amongst other human classes in her disguised form. She can spawn with the Scientists, the Class-D, or even the Facility Guards, each with their respective inventories. SCP-953 will not be able to reveal herself to attack them immediately, as Essence cannot passively generate at the start of the round. “Outside of SCP-079, SCP-953 has the most unique starting situation out of the SCP roster. The main reason we’re placing her directly with humans at the start is to emphasize the social aspect of her disguises. It also allows her to acclimate and trick others more easily, unlike SCP-3114 who had to awkwardly insert itself into a group at the start (which became predictable due to its consistent spawn). Not only that, but due to the fact that SCP-953 can’t generate Essence at the start of the round, she can’t reveal herself prematurely. This means the player is then forced to socialize and integrate with the humans instead of just immediately going on an early game rampage.” ~ ...

    Our Two-Faced SCP-079 Makeship Plushie!

CONTAINMENT BREACH! Well, actually without any legs this computer isn't really going anywhere. But don't let appearances fool you. This SCP-079 plushie may have slightly less computing power than the real thing, but still demonstrates incredible intelligence when it comes to giving a running analysis of your performance in any game.https://www.makeship.com/products/scp-079-plushieNow is your chance to get your hands on our Makeship SCP-079 Plushie, complete with multiple face plates to allow you to customise whether the old AI is feeling talkative today or not. It also features an early look at the new in-game face for SCP-079, which you can expect to see soon. Speaking of in-game, it seems that SCP-079 has received a hardware update to its model that reflects the plushie. And there also seem to be posters scattered about by SCP-079 supporters to spread awareness of the plushie (only for the duration of this campaign, once it is over the model and posters will be removed from the game). This plushie's campaign will only last 3 weeks. The campaign is made-to-order, so once it is over, the SCP-079 Plushie will never be made again. The plushie will only be made if it reaches a minimum of 200 sales. Thank you for your continued support. As always, stay tuned and see you in the dark. - Northwood Studios

    Megapatch III Progress Report

Welcome to our March Patreon Post! This one may feel a little different than usual. Last year, we released two Progress Reports which focused on multiple different topics instead of focusing on one specific topic. These are a different type of post that we are experimenting with (like Memorandums), so please give us your impressions. Without further ado, let's delve into some of the miscellany coming in Megapatch III. ProgrammingSCP-953: Implementation SCP-953's implementation is still the main focus for our programming team, with lead programmer Beryl focusing on implementing all the code and systems, such that once the model and animations are completed, they can be easily added to the system. Working simultaneously like this allows us to significantly speed up development and allows the update to be completed much quicker. There is little to share in terms of implementation due to there being no model in-engine to showcase abilities with, but rest assured that it is still coming along smoothly. Locker Implementation With the models we showed off in a previous teaser (Linked Here) being finished, we are now able to move onto the actual implementation. This is still in the quality assurance stages, but we are confident that we will be able to have these included in 15.0 thanks to the work from Mith and the implementation assistance provided by Sol. (Video of the SCP Lockers, Generators, and Warhead Panels in-game)Level DesignGate A and B With the layout and design of the Surface Zone being completed, Level Design has now turned their focus to the Entrance Zone rooms to ensure that they play well and do not result in a problematic choke point into the facility, which would negate all the benefits of the new Surface Zone’s layout being designed to be as difficult to camp as possible. Currently, the first design pass for Gate B has been finished by PlookieDookie and is waiting on a staff test to verify that it plays well before it is sent off to our art team. We have ...

    14.2.7 is out.

Hello all. While we are still hard at work developing the main features for 15.0, we are dropping some small fixes in the meanwhile. Fixes Potentially fixed an issue where players were occasionally unable to hear one another. Fixed Anti-SCP-207 AHP regenerating more rapidly than intended, at times preventing death completely. Fixed an issue where SCP-1509 would revive players when killing any SCP. Developer Note: The intended mechanic was always for only SCP-049-2 and SCP-939 to work with SCP-1509, as other SCPs are either not human enough (i.e. SCP-173) or cannot be physically cut through (i.e. SCP-106). - Northwood Studios
