About this game

About This Game:

Every die in this saloon is crooked. Make sure yours are crookeder.

Yathsel takes the dice game you know five dice, three rolls, thirteen categories and drags it into a smoky Wild West saloon where everybody cheats. Beat your rival's total round after round. Fair and square? Your call.

CHEAT UNDER THE TABLE
While your rival takes their turn, sneak below the table to the smuggler's shop and buy loaded artifact dice for hard cash. There are over 40 artifact dice, each with its own painted look and its own trick: dice loaded onto a lucky number, a glass die that rolls high but may shatter, a stone die that carves its value forever, a twin that mirrors your best die, an invisible sixth die, wildcards, substitutes and more. Between rolls you swap dice between your active row and your hidden pocket to build the perfect crooked hand.

CAMPAIGN
A roguelite run against 5 of 7 hand-drawn rivals, each with their own table talk and dirty tricks. Three unlockable difficulties, money and artifact management from round to round, save and continue anytime. An interactive tutorial deals you in on your first run.

QUICK DUEL - ARTIFACT RAIN
One rival, one fast game, no shop: from the second turn on, a random artifact die rains in every single turn  up to 12 per game. Keep what fits your plan, toss what doesn't. Also playable as best-of-3 and best-of-5 series.

THE MULTIPLAYER SALOON
Persistent rooms for 2 to 8 players: browse public saloons, share a room code, or invite Steam friends directly. Ranked 1v1 runs on server-side ratings and leagues and opens with a cinematic staredown. Five rule twists mix up the table, series go from best-of-1 to best-of-7, and a rematch is always one click away. Animated emotes, filtered in-game chat, ghost spectating and match highlights round out the table — and the server rolls the dice, so nobody cheats the cheating game itself.

MAKE THE SALOON YOURS
Level 1 to 100 with prestige stars, a seasonal Battle Pass, star chests to crack open, and shards to collect: leather dice cups, decorative dice skins, full player skins, emotes, titles and name tags. Progression lives server-side, with a cross-platform account and a shared leaderboard.

DETAILS THAT MATTER
Full controller support, plays great on Steam Deck. Available in 9 languages. Hand-painted western art, hand-made sounds, one very judgmental barkeeper.

Update 0.1.24: blood moon title screen, smoother demo, team room for eight

Howdy! Version 0.1.24 is out, in the free demo as well. It opens with a brand-new title screen, makes the first minutes of the demo a lot smoother, seats eight people in pairs in the saloon, and ends with a long pass through every game mode that twenty-one bugs did not come back from. A new title screen The saloon wall is gone. The title screen now sits under a blood moon: the gunslinger's eyes glow, the lanterns in town flicker one by one, four dice hover in front of him, and every now and then a storm flashes far behind the church. The menu is a plain list on the left again: Start, Collection, Settings, Quit. Hover over a line and it catches fire like an ember. Click it and it fires a shot, with muzzle flash, recoil and the dice flinching. If you have "Reduce motion" switched on, everything stays still. The revolver cylinder lives in your run setup now, where it carries the game modes. Its metal has aged, the light no longer spins along with it, and it gives itself a little nudge until you have turned it once. A smoother demo • Your very first Start takes you straight to the table: campaign on Normal, no questions you can't answer yet. From the second time on you get the full run setup. • The second duel used to be the wall. It is gentler now, and the finale stays the toughest fight. • Beat the Stranger and Quick Duel unlocks in the demo, drawing from the demo's outlaws. • The notice board shows the three outlaws waiting in the full game, locked, next to the ones you can take on. The end screen shows them as portraits. • A locked difficulty now says "Hard in the full game" instead of a bare "Full game" that looked like it was locking Easy. • The demo's main menu no longer promises a title bar and a daily bonus that the demo doesn't have. Room for every die The Doubling Die and The Invisible One each put an extra die on the table. Up to five dice had their fixed landing patterns; anything beyond that was scattered, and dice ended up on top of each other. Now six, s...

Update 0.1.23: a cleaner table and a shop that explains itself

Howdy! Version 0.1.23 is out, and the free demo has it too. Most of this update is about the table itself: what you read while you play, what stands in your way, and what the smuggler actually sells you. One callout at a time "Your turn", your score, "Took the lead!" and the opponent's house rule used to fire at the same moment and land right on top of each other. They now wait until the table is clear and come one after another. Anything that is already outdated by then is dropped instead of showing up late. Banners also stay on screen a little longer and have a dark outline, so they no longer slide past on the patterned leather. The cup clears the table After each throw the cup goes back to your hand. While you decide which dice to hold, only your dice are on the table. It comes back for the next roll, and you can still grab its spot and shake. A smuggler's shop that explains itself • The shop now opens right over the table, with its offers as standing cards side by side. • Hover any artifact die (an offer, one of your own dice or a sell spot) and you see its full effect, its rarity and what it sells for. With a controller, just move the focus onto it. • Sell a die directly from its spot below "Your Dice". • The scoreboard preview in the shop is smaller and covers far less of the screen. Opponents • Portraits no longer cut off hats and sit neatly inside their frames. Mad Moni, Blind Otto and Widow Gerda benefit the most. • During a duel, house rules are shown as a short version. The full rule is still in the Codex and on the Notice Board. • Between two duels, the campaign map pins the next wanted poster to the wall. Dice and feel • Every artifact die has its own sound, and the artifact bar reacts to the die that just did something. • The pocket swap now visibly flies between the table and your pocket. • Scores you could take right now blink on your scorecard. • Buttons, tabs and panels keep the same size in all nine languages. • Fixed: Second Chance gave you four ...

v0.1.20: The Lanterns Are Lit and the Outlaws Have Bodies

Light, because the game had exactly one of everything I measured it before touching anything: on four of the five main screens more than 80 percent of the image sat close to black, and up to 99 percent of all colored pixels sat in the same brown and gold wedge. One hue, one brightness. The lanterns painted into the backgrounds did not actually light anything. Now they do. Every scene knows where its lamps burn, and the bright core sits on the flame instead of next to it. The gold got its highlights painted in, because there was no gold in the code for a highlight to catch. The outlaws are figures now, not paintings All ten of them are rigged. They breathe, they blink, their eyes catch the light, dust drifts in front of them and they throw a shadow on the wall behind. They step out of the plane instead of sitting flat on it, and they go by their names now instead of their archetypes. You walk into the saloon A round no longer just appears. The screen assembles itself and the opponent comes in last. From round two you get the short version, and in multiplayer it stops the moment somebody moves, so nobody waits on a cutscene.Portrait got a full pass Wanted posters stack instead of squeezing side by side, the codex card is square, the collection tabs and the pause button moved, and the opponent sits at the table edge where you can see them. Also new Invite friends straight into a round, with a notification anywhere in the game. Shake the phone to roll the cup on mobile, switchable. Scores count up, grow and glow instead of just appearing. Sign in with Apple.Fixes worth naming The round state survived a scene change and could hand your opponent two filled fields. Save and quit forgot the running turn, which is now carried along with the round. New dice pushed out the dice you had deliberately held. The Quick Turner swallowed its first target choice. Rotating the phone made a running multiplayer match unplayable. Five reachable security holes in the server are closed.Still o...
