About this game
You wash up alone in the wilderness, nothing but your hands and what the land gives you. You chop wood, raise a shelter, and fight to stay alive as the seasons turn toward a merciless winter. Then one day, a stray dog crosses your path. Feed it. Earn its trust. Watch it grow, and it never leaves your side.
By My Side is an open-world survival-craft game about raw survival, a home you build with your own hands, and the bond that grows between you and your dog.
Your Dog, Your Story: Find a stray and raise it from a pup. Each run it's a different breed with its own look and talent. Teach it tricks, put it to work (guard, hunt, or haul a sled), and it follows your commands, watches your back, and warns you the moment danger closes in.
Build & Power a Home: From a first campfire to a walled homestead with a glass greenhouse and an upper floor. Place every foundation, wall, stair and roof freely, then bring it to life with your own power-and-water grid: solar, batteries, pumps, heaters, sprinklers, smelters and smart-relay automation that keeps the base running while you're away.
Craft Everything: Over 90 recipes across workbench, furnace, campfire and powered machines. Gather raw materials and refine them through real crafting trees (ore into iron into steel, fibre into cloth into cable) into tools, gear and the machines that run your home.
Survive the Seasons: Stay warm, fed and dry as spring, summer and autumn give way to a winter that wants you dead. Food spoils, so salt it, preserve it, stock the larder before the cold. Droughts, animal migrations, wolf packs and aurora-lit nights keep every year unpredictable.
Live Off the Land: Till fields and grow crops, keep them alive year-round in a heated greenhouse, raise animals, trade with a wandering merchant, and automate the grind so your homestead works for you.
Defend What's Yours: The wild fights back, and it escalates the longer you last. Harsher winters and pack sieges strike from the first night. Read the danger, fortify your home, and hold the line beside your dog.
Every Run Is Different: Start from a fresh scenario, then take on one of a dozen origins, each a real strength and a weakness that shape how you survive. Climb the homestead ranks toward an endgame worth chasing.
Two Ways to Play: Survival (hardcore, one life, permadeath) or Story (your home and world endure when you fall).

By My Side Update Fixed The build menu now shows correct English names such as Foundation, Strip Foundation, Floor and Wall. Material costs in the English build menu are now translated correctly. Chests and cool boxes can no longer be placed inside each other. Cool boxes can now be placed reliably and are correctly recognized as cool boxes. Cool boxes properly slow down food spoilage for stored items. Placement previews can now be closed reliably with Esc. The preview no longer immediately reappears after cancelling. By My Side – Update 1.0.4 This update expands language support, improves controller gameplay, and fixes a variety of localization and gameplay issues. 🌍 Four New Languages - By My Side now supports a total of 12 languages. - Polish, Traditional Chinese, Korean, and Turkish have been added. - Each new localization was built using its own terminology glossary to ensure item names remain consistent across recipes, inventory, and tooltips. - Every language also went through an additional proofreading and quality assurance pass. - Players in Taiwan and Hong Kong now receive the Traditional Chinese version instead of Simplified Chinese. 🎮 Controller - Sprinting can now be activated by pushing the left stick forward twice. Sprint remains active while moving forward and automatically stops when you stop walking. - The classic L3 sprint button is still fully supported. - Controller button prompts are now displayed correctly throughout the game, including tutorials, the activity log, and the revive teammate prompt. - The official Steam Controller badge will arrive with Update 1.0.5. A short tutorial explaining how to open the quick menu in the bottom-left corner by pressing the right stick is still being added.
