About this game

One land. A thousand years. Every border based on real history.
Silesian Wars is a turn-based strategy game played entirely on a map of real Silesia. Every province is an actual gmina with borders drawn from real geographic data; the towns, castles, cathedrals and fortresses on the map stood — or still stand — where the game puts them. You don't conquer a fantasy continent. You fight over Wrocław, Opole, Brzeg and Nysa, and the rivers and mountain passes that decided their fates.

Play history era by era
The campaign follows Silesia through the centuries — each era a self-contained scenario, and a link in a chain you can play end to end:
Pagan tribes raising wooden strongholds along the Oder
Piast unification and the Mongol storm of 1241
The fragmentation into quarrelling duchies
The Bohemian crown and the Hussite wars
Habsburg rule, Reformation and Counter-Reformation
Prussia's conquest and the age of fortresses
Industry, plebiscites and the divided Silesia of the 20th century — all the way to the modern day
Play any era as standalone unit with mechanics unique to them.

Leaders with real personalities
Dozens of historical dukes, kings, bishops and warlords lead the factions — each an AI character with its own temperament: aggression, grudges, loyalty, greed, faith. Their difficulty ratings aren't guesswork; every leader earns its rank in automated AI-versus-AI tournaments before it ever faces you. And beyond the mortals wait the legends of Silesian folklore, champions like Rübezahl, Lord of the Mountains.

Orders together, consequences together
Turns are simultaneous: every ruler gives orders, then the world resolves at once. Raise and move armies, colonize the frontier, develop provinces, build markets and forts shaped by the terrain they stand on — then live with what your neighbors decided at the same moment. Diplomacy is a weapon too.

Bring your friends — or face the machine
Full online multiplayer: host a match or join over the internet or LAN, pick your seats in the lobby, chat, pause, save mid-match and continue later. Fill the remaining thrones with AI leaders of any difficulty, or just spectate and watch history unfold.

A living atlas of Silesia
Landmarks appear and disappear with the centuries — a wooden gród gives way to a Gothic castle, a bastion fortress, a coal mine. Hand-crafted event paintings mark the great turning points, and map views let you read the land like a chronicle: economy, armies, faith, danger.

Update 5.0.0 with tutorial
Back from GrunwaldI spent most of my vacation at the Battle of Grunwald reenactment - knights, banners, and a field full of people who take medieval history very seriously. Good to be back at the keyboard, though. I have just finished tutorial and Silesiopedia, something most of you requested from the beginning. Photo by Radko Kędzierzawy New: Guided TutorialNever sure what the diplomacy panel does, or when to press ready? The new Tutorial is a guided tour on almost all aspects of the game — advisory, unhurried, and safe to click around while you read. Nine chapters — Time Control, UI, The Map, Economy, War, Logistics, and more Spotlights real UI panels and map modes as you go; highlights are visual only, nothing is locked Steps are linked into Silesiopedia containing more information about the subjectReplay any chapterStart it using main-menu Tutorial buttonNew: SilesiopediaAn in-game encyclopedia for every system worth remembering. Silesiopedia is one click (or F1) away from the main menu or game map. Searchable glossary across diplomacy, economy, war, logistics, map modes, religion, and UIFuzzy search and cross-links between related termsAvailable from the action strip, game menu, and tutorial steps via Read in SilesiopediaChanged: Province highlightingMap feedback is now less intrusive. Selection and neighbour-order hints use border-only outlines instead of washing the whole province — so map modes, army stacks, and terrain stay readable at a glance. Improved: Big ArrowLate-game (or early) logistics on a wide front got a serious upgrade. Big Arrow now: Covers only your provinces under the stroke - no false promises on foreign landMouse scroll while dragging to widen or narrow the sweep (×1 up to ×100; starts at ×50)Shift + drag to lay auto-moves along the arrow; Ctrl + drag to clear auto-moves in bulkCan be accesed from orders panelHandy when you need to shove a whole line forward - or strip auto-send rules across dozens of gminas without clicking each province ...Read full article on Community Announcements (Ibn-La'Ahad)AnnouncementsOfficial
Early access is there
Silesian Wars is Live! Greetings, my friends! Finally, the game was approved - and it is available to download and play. While I was waiting for approval, I made plenty of changes. The one I consider most important is music. There were many other features too, but why is music the most important, you ask? In my opinion, it makes the whole experience much better. Brilliant tracks from three great studios: Phat Phrog Studios, Dark Fantasy Studio, and Joel Steudler. The game might feel complicated to many of you — especially when a very short turn timer is set. I know this, and I will try to address it with a good interactive tutorial just after my vacation, targeting early August for that release. For now, when you set up a new game, you can change the Turn Timer to be longer or disabled. When disabled, the game simply waits for all players to press Ready (either the small button or Enter). There will be plenty of changes to the UI — and hopefully, based on your feedback, we will make this much more readable and let you focus on the mechanics of the game. How the Game Works The game is turn-based and split into 4 phases: Phase 1 — AI Orders: All AI characters commit orders for their factions. Phase 2 — Player Orders: All players have limited time to commit orders for their factions. Phase 3 — Execution: All orders from Phases 1 and 2 are executed at the same time. Phase 4 — Combat: All orders that resulted in combat are fought out. Then the turn advances to N+1, and the phases begin again from the start. Where to Start For now, I suggest you play Age of Tribes as the scenario where you can learn the game. There are not many factions, which should be easier to manage. The special mechanic of this era is colonization — empty provinces can be colonized by settlers from adjacent factions. Another interesting scenario is Era 1, with its mechanic of the Mongol invasion. Here you will be playing as one of the many allied factions trying to repel a huge enemy — one goal for a...Read full article on Community Announcements (Ibn-La'Ahad)AnnouncementsOfficial
Soon to release in early access
Silesian Wars — Joining Early Access Soon After a few busy weeks, I'm excited to share that Silesian Wars is about to hit Early Access, and this one is personal. I was born in Upper Silesia and spent most of my life in Lower Silesia. Two cities closest to my heart: Byczyna and Wrocław are lay in Silesia. It is a region with over a millennium of rich, dramatic history, and this game is my attempt to bring some of it to life. What is Silesian Wars? It's a grand strategy game in the spirit of Europa Universalis, a genre I've been passionate about for a long time and approached several times before. This time I'm going all in. The game spans multiple historical eras, each playable as a standalone experience with its own mechanics and focus. You'll witness: Tribal colonization and early settlement Enforced religious conversion Religious wars and dynastic conflicts The Upper Silesia Plebiscite of 1921 ...and much more in between The focus here is history first. I stepped back from heavy procedural generation and instead, AI leaders behave in historically grounded ways, and events unfold with meaningful weight.Where I need your help The game is fully playable, but Early Access means it's not yet complete. Religion mechanics are in, cultural interactions are still coming. There's more planned: deeper foreign power diplomacy, building-terrain synergies, and expanded content across all eras. I want the history to be right. If you spot something inaccurate, or know of a fascinating Silesian event that should be in the game, please tell me. I built this on research, but I know there's more I've missed. Multiplayer is tested and working. I'm especially eager to hear from anyone who gets a 4–7 player session going, that's the experience I most want to ensure is bug free. The game is designed to be approachable almost as simple as Risk on the surface but with as much depth as you want to dig into. When?Soon, most likely still in June. I just need to make one last change. (I've bee...Read full article on Community Announcements (Ibn-La'Ahad)
