QoL Update
Hello there. Here's another update for the Habit-heads(?) out there. It's a quality-of-life update followed by brief news. First, for the update itself... It makes the game slightly nicer to play. Isn't that fantastic. If you want the details here you go:QoL Changes:Mission Intros: Brief mission title on new mission start (for flavor).Message System: Messages pop up when obtaining items for your inventory. Messages can also pop up for other occurrences (e.g. Brioche merchandise being sent to the cubicle.)New UI Option: Inventory can now pop up when the mouse is near the bottom of the screen. It similarly hides when the mouse moves away from the bottom of the screen.UX Improvements: Makes the inventory pop up for less stuff (e.g. when just talking to an NPC).Settings: Aforementioned UI option gets a setting. Choose whether the inventory can be controlled only on keypress/click, or only with new mouse position option, or if it can be controlled by both. Another new setting for toggling sound when message is shown. Settings menu now has TABS for volume and gameplay (wow)! Some other minor changes (in preparation for future missions).Further Development:Very nice. Very cool. Also, to elaborate slightly on the last point, I do plan on making more missions/stories for "Wimple and Habit". I've had a lot of fun making the game, and I want to continue adding to it. To make my intentions clear, here's what that will look like:Episodic Missions: Future missions will be episodic. In other words, you should not need to have played any mission for any other mission to make sense. In other other words, they are all self-contained, so no multi-mission stories (unless otherwise notified).Scope: I am aiming for any future missions to be similar in scope to the base game. Similar length main mission, side-missions, and similar completion time. There will always be variation, but that's my intent.DLC: Further missions will be paid DLC.So that's it for this update/news thing. I'm currentl...Read full article on Community Announcements (orcsune)Patch NotesOfficial
First Patch
Hello, quick update patch. Here's the rundown:Attempting fix for a rare random crash on some machines on some scene changes.Fixed a softlock state. Before, it was possible to softlock at the cellar door if you use one dynamite to open unblock the quarry path and the other dynamite to blow open the abattoir safe. That is no longer a softlock, and here's why:3 more dollars added in the mirror world meat room, mirror world crusadorium, and end of shelterplex hallway.Third dynamite item added to mirror world dangersports store.Mirror world quarry deed added to the end of mirror world quarry. This way, if you bought the rebreather, the mirror world deed can be used to open the cellar door, of if you buy the 3rd dynamite, it can also be used. This seemed like the best fix for the situation. This all also works if you spent an extra dollar on a hotdog and grinded it.That's what I get for adding dynamite as an option to open the abattoir safe, I guess. It was still very worth it because I think that interaction is funny.Happy Habiting.Read full article on Community Announcements (orcsune)AnnouncementsOfficial
Beta Branch Release
Beta Branch ReleaseHello, and thanks for being interested in Wimple and Habit. Also, thank you for making release day awesome for me. I've gotten more support than I was expecting, honestly. Now on to the main point of this post: I'm opening an optional public beta branch of the game.TL;DR: Releasing an optional beta branch for people who experience technical problems (crashes, settings not working, etc) and want to help me fix them if I cannot reproduce & fix the problem on my machine. As a point-and-click game, I don't anticipate too many technical issues, but I want to leave some kind of channel open for identifying them if they do occur. My intent is more-or-less to have a public beta branch available for people who have technical issues and are okay helping me resolve them if I am unable to replicate them on my machine. There's no pressure to do so if you don't want to, though. As a pretty small game with few expected problems, I'll also keep the beta testing relatively simple. If you have a problem you suspect to be a technical issue (a crash, settings problem, etc.), you can try to report it under this event's discussion section (describe how when/how it happens and some basic machine/runtime specs like frame rate, cpu, and memory amount) and join the public beta branch so I can test fixes. As this is an unstable branch, I can't make any guarantees that it won't cause new problems, mess up saves, etc. Backing up your save files occasionally is a good way to prevent me from doing anything too stupid and messing up your saves.Save File Locations:Windows: %APPDATA%\\Godot\\app_userdata\\Wimple and HabitLinux: ~/.local/share/godot/app_userdata/Wimple and HabitAs long as there are no active problems, I expect the beta branch to be the same as the default game branch, this may only change as I test fixes for reported problems. Joining the beta is simple:Joining the Beta:Right-click "Wimple and Habit" in your Steam Library.Go to "Properties > Game Versions & Betas"Sel...Read full article on Community Announcements (orcsune)
