About this game

BLACK WALLS is a first-person surreal puzzle horror game with liminal and psychological horror elements. It is about an isolated astronaut who discovers something impossible beyond the Moon.
Joshua should have died alone in the darkness. An accident outside the space station sent him drifting into deep space, farther and farther from any hope of rescue. Then, beyond the far side of the Moon, where there should have been nothing, he saw something impossible: black walls.
They offered a way in, but no way out. Now trapped inside this silent, impossible world, Joshua must solve its strange puzzles and overcome its obstacles as he searches for an escape and begins to uncover what the Black Walls really are.

Built from monochrome spaces, brutal geometry, and stark light.

Study how light changes what you can see, read the space around you, and notice where darkness hides paths that may already be in front of you.

Where silence, spatial sound, and minimal interface elements keep the focus on presence and unease. Some areas
feel calm and almost peaceful. Others feel wrong.
Carefully interpret objects you discover in the maze. The choices you make will shape your ending.

Explore at your own pace, focusing on atmosphere, direction-finding, and discovery without a monster hunting you.

For survival horror tension with an unpredictable threat that can appear in different places and moments.

Rather than direct exposition, BLACK WALLS tells its story through architecture, symbols, atmosphere, and the decisions you make.

BLACK WALLS Demo Enters Alpha Testing
The BLACK WALLS demo is now in alpha, and we just finished our first round of private playtesting over the past few days.We had a small group of players go through the build and got a lot out of it. We tested the environmental puzzles, interactions, enemy behavior and just generally watched how people understood and reacted to things. There were a few moments where several people got stuck or frustrated in exactly the same place, which was probably the most useful part for us. Some things you just don't see anymore when you've been working on the game every day. We're going to do a few more small private tests like this and keep fixing things as we go. Once we're happy with where the demo is at, we'll start testing with a larger group before release. That's where we're at for now. Back to work :)If you want to follow along, we're also on Discord. We'll post there when we're looking for more testers and share updates as we go.Join the BLACK WALLS Discord Alpha development supervised by our pawject manager.Read full article on Community Announcements (Magic Van Games)AnnouncementsOfficial

Update: The Steam Page Launch Celebration has now ended. Thank you to everyone who found BLACK WALLS early and joined us at the beginning of this journey. The launch keepsake pack was available for a limited time and is no longer available to download. If you are reading this, you were here at the beginning of BLACK WALLS.When we first opened the doors to our Steam page, only a small number of players had found their way into the labyrinth. We wanted to mark that quiet beginning with something made especially for the people who discovered the game early. To commemorate our Steam Page Launch Celebration, we prepared two limited-time keepsakes for our earliest supporters:- Steam Launch Wallpaper — created exclusively for our Steam page launch.- Founder's Mark — a commemorative emblem for those who joined us at the beginning of BLACK WALLS' journey. The launch keepsake pack was available only during the Steam Page Launch Celebration and is no longer available to download.Thank you to everyone who found BLACK WALLS early, added it to your Wishlist, followed the game, or simply took a moment to look into the dark with us. The Founder's Mark has now been retired as a symbol of our earliest community. Why We Created BLACK WALLSWhen we first started discussing this project, we asked ourselves a simple question. Can a world built from almost nothing still make people feel wonder, curiosity, loneliness, and fear?Modern games often fill every corner with objects, effects, collectibles, and visual detail. We wanted to explore the opposite. What if simplicity could become the experience?BLACK WALLS is built around that idea.Simple geometry.A restrained color palette.Impossible architecture.Large empty spaces.Rather than telling players where to look, we wanted the environment itself to quietly guide their attention.Throughout development, we challenged ourselves with several strict design rules. Every decision had to support the same vision.Instead of creating a world full of distract...Read full article on Community Announcements (Magic Van Games)
