About this game

Cargo Protocol: Cyberpunk Trains is an economic strategy game about freight trains, production chains, and corporate influence in a cyberpunk world.

Lay tracks, launch trains, deliver goods to the places that need them, research technologies, and gradually turn a local transport company into a system the world can no longer function without.

Logistics

Optimize the system, throughput, and train composition. The shortest path is not always the most profitable one: station load, queues, trip frequency, train speed, wagon capacity, and the way one route affects the entire network all matter.

A new factory, district, or resource can turn an old network into a gold mine - or a bottleneck.

Economy

Markets react to supply and demand. Oversupply drags profit down, scarcity opens the door to aggressive expansion, and every infrastructure upgrade has to pay for itself before competitors notice your weakness.

Invest in technologies, new train types, and production chains. A cheap route today can become the foundation of tomorrow's monopoly - or a trap that drains your budget down to the last credit.

Influence

A corporation either grows or becomes someone else's asset. To enter new markets, you must prove efficiency: complete deliveries and maintain your reputation where the word "trust" was replaced by numbers long ago.

Key Features:

  • easy start and a deep late game that pushes back

  • a procedurally generated world with a truly fresh experience in every run

  • production chains, technologies, and upgrades that unlock new strategies

  • freedom and replayability

  • focus on strategy and interesting systems, not manually tweaking every rail signal

  • a unique, grim, atmospheric cyberpunk setting for the genre

  • fine-tuning for players who want to squeeze out maximum efficiency

    What We’re Currently Working On

Hello, community! We’re very happy to welcome everyone who joined us during the Ukrainian Games Festival 2026, especially those who have already played the demo. We’d also love to see you on our Discord server! We’re currently working on improving nearly every aspect of the game. Today, we’d like to show you something that can already be demonstrated visually — the first improvements to the landscape. We’ll reveal the updated UI style a little later. For now, we’re sharing a few small previews of the future look of the game world. We have created special dioramas in the game engine that now serve as visual references as we update the procedural generation of locations.Unfortunately, we weren’t able to finish this work before the demo was released. However, the new landscape will be added in one of the upcoming updates, allowing you to see the results directly in the game.We hope the updated visuals will make the world of Cargo Protocol more distinctive and immerse you even deeper in its grim cyberpunk atmosphere.

They are completely different in genre and atmosphere, but both are built around progression, experimenting with mechanics, and finding effective strategies.NocthraNocthra is a dark roguelike game with a retro-computer aesthetic, where you play as a Necromancer accidentally awakened by villagers after they destroyed an ancient seal.Defend yourself against waves of mortals, raise fallen enemies, and build your own army of the undead. Every corpse becomes a valuable resource: use it to summon a new servant or convert it into Dark Energy for powerful rituals.Unlock Sigils, strengthen your minions, reshape the battlefield, and create new combinations of abilities. The longer the siege lasts, the larger your army becomes - but the enemies never stop coming. Kill FactoryKill Factory is an incremental idler game about building an automated factory of destruction.Place deadly traps and combine weapons, elements, and physics-based mechanisms. Destroy waves of enemies, earn resources, and spend them on hundreds of upgrades that gradually make your factory faster, stronger, and more efficient.Experiment with different combinations, make...

    Announcing Cargo Protocol: Cyberpunk Trains

Today, July 20, we are officially announcing the game that the Flat Lab team has been working on for the past six months. You may know us from Menace from the Deep, Timeloop: Sink Again Beach, or I Want to Believe. At 8:00 PM Kyiv time, Steam Train Fest begins—the first event where we will showcase Cargo Protocol: Cyberpunk Trains.Cargo Protocol: Cyberpunk Trains is an economic strategy game about freight trains, production chains, and the struggle for corporate influence in a cyberpunk world. Before this, we completed development on two other games—Nocthra and Kill Factory—but for a long time, we could not find a suitable themed festival for them. They will be officially announced on August 17 as part of the Ukrainian Games Festival 2026.This experience prompted us to approach our next project differently: to decide in advance on the context in which the game would be presented and use it as a creative constraint. Steam’s event calendar included festivals dedicated to trains and cyberpunk, which sparked the idea of combining both themes in a single game. What began as a practical decision gradually evolved into a fully realized concept with its own world, mechanics, and identity. As the game director, this project is especially meaningful to me. In our previous games, I primarily focused on direction, cutscenes, and storytelling. This time, I wanted to create a game where the gameplay itself takes center stage and every session unfolds into a unique experience.I had long wanted to work with trains, logistics, and a sandbox strategy format in which players shape their own stories. The game does not lead them through a predefined scenario. Instead, it provides a system of rules, conditions, and interconnected mechanics from which different situations naturally emerge. My greatest source of inspiration was Super Loco World. Before development began, I played many train games on Steam in an effort to better understand the genre. However, many of them felt overloaded with ...
