About this game
Fast, Fair, Serverless Space Combat
Subspace: Redux is a spiritual successor to the classic multiplayer dogfighting of
Subspace/Continuum — rebuilt from the ground up with zero server costs and zero
subscriptions. Every match runs peer-to-peer over Steam. No dedicated servers to shut down,
no live-service sunset. Buy it once, play it forever.
Fly Your Way
Choose from 16 distinct hulls, each a genuine sidegrade — not a stat upgrade. Warbird,
Javelin, Spider, and five more are free from the start. Eight premium ships, ranging from
Rare to Singularity rarity, add new handling and weapon characteristics to master, never a
raw power advantage over free pilots.
Premium is cosmetic and sidegrade only — this is not a pay-to-win game.
Loot, Bounty, and a Galaxy Worth Exploring
Rarity-tiered loot upgrades eight independent ship systems — guns, bombs, mines,
engines, thrusters, armour, shields, and reactor — from Common all the way to Singularity.
Earn Bounty in combat and track your progress toward over 160 Steam achievements.
Travel a quadrant-linked galaxy through jump gates, from safe zones to contested
territory.
Form a squad of up to five pilots and take on the frontier together.
Built on Steam, For Players
Steam handles matchmaking presence, achievements, and friend invites — there's no separate
account, no launcher, no always-online requirement beyond Steam itself. Your progress, your
ships, your galaxy.

The Control Station Update
Your bars, your talents and your weapons are all yours to arrange now. Plus the tutorial stops trying to phone a server it was never supposed to talk to. ## 🛠️ Two Bars, And Every Station Is Yours The actionbar used to be a fixed list. Slot one was the gun because the game said so. That's over. - **A second bar**, above the first. - **Twelve stations on each**, and **anything can go in any of them** — weapons, abilities, panels, even Return to Base. - **Drag a station onto another** to swap them. Drag one **off the bars** and let go to empty it. Drag across bars freely. - **1, 2 and 3 are just the default keys** for the first three stations. Rebind any of them. - Bar two ships **without keys of its own** — click it, or bind whatever you like in Settings. It deliberately does not steal bar one's number keys. - The whole assembly is **25% larger** than before, and both bars are finally the *same* size. - Your **experience bar now runs beneath the bars**, the full width of them, with your class badge on the left and your alliance emblem on the right. ## 📖 The Technical Order — press **V** Every system your ship carries, written up like an aircraft manual, and the place you lay out your bars. - **Four sections**: Armament, Countermeasures and Defensive Systems, Onboard Systems and Displays, Egress. Every entry carries its paragraph number, what it's for, and which station it's assigned to. - **Drag a paragraph straight onto a station** to assign it. **Double-click** to drop it in the first free station, or to clear it. - **Restore Defaults** puts everything back the way it shipped. It's a document you can actually read, not a palette you rummage through. ## 🎖️ The Talent Trees Are Finished All **eighteen trees — 756 talents** — are complete, and *every single node does something*. There are no dead points left anywhere in them. Every tree now gives you: - **A buff your allies feel.** Fly near a friendly pilot and they get it too. - **A debuff your enemies feel.** They d...Read full article on Community Announcements (nlaakald)Patch NotesOfficial
Subspace: Redux — The First Flight Update
Everything a new pilot meets in their first hour, rebuilt — and one very old bug swatted that everybody has been flying with. ## 💥 Your Weapons Are Visible Again This is the big one, and it has been wrong for a long time. - **Gun rounds, bombs and mines now actually appear.** They were firing, travelling and dealing damage the whole time — you just couldn't see any of it. You heard the shot, you saw the damage on the target, and nothing in between. - **Engine thrust and afterburner flames are back.** Your ship has been running silent-and-dark this whole time. - **Impact bursts and explosions** show when a round lands. - **Loot pickups** sparkle again. If the game has felt strangely flat in a fight, this is why. It should feel very different now. ## 🎓 A Tutorial You Actually Fly The old tutorial was a wall of text with a button at the end. The new one puts you in a ship. - **29 guided steps, flown not read.** Each one finishes when you *do* the thing — thrust, turn, stop, fire, drop, lay, open. You cannot page past a lesson without learning it. - **You keep the controls the whole way.** Nothing takes your ship off you. - **It shows YOUR keys.** If you've rebound a control, the tutorial names the key you actually use. - **Nothing can hurt you**, nothing costs anything, and **ESC leaves at any time**. Stuck on a step? It moves you along after a while rather than leaving you stranded. - You fly it as **Trainee** in a **Trainer** — a deliberately slow, forgiving hull — so your real pilot and your real ship are never involved. It assumes you have never flown a space game before, and it starts with the thing that catches everyone out: **space doesn't slow you down.** It covers flight, stopping, the safe zone and the full stop, energy, your gun, bombs, mines, heat, power settings, your hull's utility, the actionbar and its drawers, your player frame, the radar, the galaxy map, cargo, missions, the story journal, your pilot sheet, targeting, and what happens when you die. ##...Read full article on Community Announcements (nlaakald)Patch NotesOfficial

NEW: HARDCORE / PERMADEATH
☠️ NEW: HARDCORE / PERMADEATH One hull. One life. No second chances. - Tick HARDCORE / PERMADEATH on the main menu to enter a whole new universe. You'll read the rules and choose to accept before anything changes. - One life. When your hull hits zero, your Hardcore pilot is gone for good. It stays on your roster as a Ghost, a reminder of what you lost. - A world of its own. Hardcore pilots fly on their own server, apart from everyone else. - Self-found. Everything you have, you earned: your own credits, bank and cargo. No auction house, no mail, no trading, no squads, no battlegrounds or arenas. - Your ship, your skill. No Ship Enhancements or Supporter perks. Premium ships are allowed. - A brand-new Hardcore title screen and its own theme music. Turn it up. - Normal pilots and Hardcore pilots share your pilot slots. Pilots from the other mode are shown locked until you switch modes. 🌌 The Galaxy, Redrawn - Every faction has a true home. Each faction's safe zone now sits deep in its own territory, near its corner of the galaxy, with its homeworld rising behind it. - The Neutral Zone (the old Sanctum Reach, where Grand Admiral Korrath Vael fell) is the open space at the heart of the galaxy. Its safe zone is the only one every faction may use. - Home is home. Another faction's safe zone won't protect you, serve you, or take you in. You always respawn at your own faction's home. - Orbital stations circle every safe zone. You'll only see the stations that serve you. 🕵️ Smugglers Run the Black Market - The Black Market at the Neutral Zone deals only with smugglers: pilots of the Shroud Collective, and Phantoms of any faction. - It's the one way goods cross the war lines. Everyone else needs a smuggler. 🛡️ Tougher Ships - Every ship's hull is now four times stronger. Fights last longer, and every decision counts. 🎒 Items & Upgrades - Item tooltips are back and far more detailed: what an item does, its rarity, what you already have installed, whether it's an upgrade or a d...Read full article on Community Announcements (nlaakald)Patch NotesOfficial
