About this game

Tattoo Dungeon is an 8-bit action-platformer with some metroidvania influence. It's an indie homebrew gameboy color game, ported to play easily on PCs. This version of the game retains it's original retro 8-bit "charm" just as if you were playing on the original handheld.

Features

• Lost Flash: Recover 20 hidden tattoo designs to fill your gallery.
• Tattoo Skin Maps: Tattoo skin maps to reveal secrets and a hidden power.
• 12 Bosses: Defeat bosses and minibosses to save your town from invasion.
• 4 Weapons: Smash monsters using your trusty chain and 3 special weapons.
• Power-Ups: Discover upgrades to unlock new areas and track down secrets.

The Ultimate Challenge: Players who achieve 100% completion will unlock the true final boss. May require 2 play throughs.

PC Only Features

• Optional Shaders: gbc style grid, scanline shader, with CRT options.
• Resolution Options: Upscaled full screen and art bezel options.

Estimated Playtime: ~5+ hours for first play through; 2+ hours for optimized speedruns.

Physical cartridge release is planned for later in the year. Best way to support is by buying the game here while waiting for the cartridge.

    1.3

1.3 - Fixed an issue involving full screen mode clipping some visuals for those possibly using different aspect ratios. - An issue on Game Over where the player could end up at the home base instead of the last save when spamming the “A” button when entering the game over screen”. More of a GB Studio issue, but I added a safe guard in that scene to hopefully stop it from happening, or at least minimizing the chance of it happening. - I also tried to make some of the dialogues around the “Tattoo Machine”, “learning to tattoo”, and 100%ing the game a little more clear. While it’s totally possible to get 100% on the first play through, this game was designed to learn from your first play through, making the second go faster and easier to get 100% completion. This update will make your current game save start at the home base on first launch, but you will not lose actual progress.

    1.2 update

1.2 This version should be in line with the gbc cartridge version that is releasing soon. - Fixed Stained Glass Jesus boss from being able to take damage when returning to the boss room. - Fixed a glitch where the player could dash at the start of a new game if they had already completed the game. This only happened if a new game was started right after killing the final boss without resetting or exiting the game. - Fixed spelling errors - Changed the format of some text boxes that were not sized correctly. - Fixed some player visual placement glitches when returning to a scene after chatting. - Fixed some minor things that no one was ever going to notice. In progress game saves will send the player to the player house on first boot of this update. No save data will be lost.
