About this game

Descend into a brutal physics-driven challenge where control, planning, and precision matter more than reckless speed.

In Down The Stairs, every run is a battle against gravity and your own mistakes. On the stairs, the goal is not just to reach the end, but to stay in control and finish with as few ragdoll falls as possible. A clean descent is everything. One bad landing can break the rhythm of a perfect run.

But the challenge does not end there.

In the shaft, success is all about careful planning and smart setup. Using the Mini Shaft Editor, you place beams, shape the best possible path, and try to hit as many of them as possible to earn points. With no time pressure, you can take your time, think ahead, and refine every decision. The more effective your setup, the higher your score.

You can also measure your performance against the ghost runs of other players. Study their routes, compare their execution, and push yourself toward cleaner descents, better setups, and higher scores.

Features

- Physics-based stair runs where control and clean movement matter more than chaos

- Ragdoll-driven mistakes that punish poor timing and bad landings

- Shaft gameplay built around the Mini Shaft Editor, where you place beams and try to hit as many as possible for points

- A mix of precision movement, route learning, planning, and score chasing

- Ghost run competition that lets you compare your performance against other players

- Highly replayable runs built around mastery, optimization, and personal bests

- Unlock achievements by mastering clean descents, fast runs, and high scores

Master the Descent

Stay on your feet on the stairs. Build your score in the shaft. Learn from every fall and come back stronger.

Multiplayer Development Update #2 – Races, Bots, Results & More

Multiplayer development continues!A lot has changed since our first Multiplayer Development Update. What started as a basic Host/Join race test has now grown into a much more complete multiplayer race system. We have been steadily adding new features, statistics and gameplay mechanics. The race loop is now workingThe basic Stair Race can now be played from start to finish.Players and bots wait together behind the starting gate while the countdown begins:5... 4... 3... 2... 1... GO!When the race starts, the gate opens and all participants begin their run toward the finish line. Each participant now has a visible nickname during the race, making it much easier to follow who is ahead, who has fallen behind and who has just been sent flying down the stairs.Bots can now join the raceEmpty places in the room can be filled with bots. The bots have their own names and character profiles and participate in the same race as human players.Current bot names include: Fado, Bruno, Berta, Sigma, Ixi, Pi and Pinky. This allows us to test full 8-participant races even when only one or two human players are connected.Treasures and falls now affect the resultThe race is no longer only about reaching the finish line first.Treasures can be collected during the race and currently reduce the final time by 1 second each.Falls work in the opposite direction and add a time penalty. For example:• 12 Treasures = -12 seconds • 1 Fall = +3 secondsThis means the fastest route is not always automatically the best route.Players can choose whether to run directly toward the finish or risk collecting additional treasures along the way.Race Results are now workingAt the end of each race, a full results screen is displayed. The current results table includes:• Final position • Player nickname • Final time • Wins • Win rate • Raw race time • Treasures collected • FallsThe final time includes both treasure bonuses and fall penalties. The Host can then start another race without leaving the room.Player statistics...
