About this game

Perihelion: Rogue Orbit is an arcade space combat roguelite where your best shots come from how you fly.

Choose Your Vector

Lock a target, control range, and work the angle until your guns have a clean shot. The key is transversal velocity: how quickly a target moves across the line of fire, and whether the guns can keep up. Cut across enemy fire to break their tracking. Match your target’s movement to create the perfect firing solution, then commit before they do the same to you.

Good Flying Hits Harder

Clean direct hits build Overdrive, stacking damage and fire rate as long as you keep flying well. Finish an enemy with an Overdrive hit and Shield Surge boosts your shield recharge, giving you a chance to carry that momentum into the next fight.

Fit For The Fight

Build your ship from weapons, defences, and utility modules. Heavy guns hit hard but struggle to track fast targets. Defensive modules keep you alive but leave less room for firepower. A fit that dominates at long range can unravel the moment something fast gets underneath its guns. A close-in brawler has to get under enemy guns without starting a fight it can’t finish.

No Build Survives First Contact

Runs last around 10–20 minutes, with reshuffled sectors each time. Clear sectors, scan anomalies under fire, neutralise priority targets, and destroy hostile structures. Fit, launch, make mistakes, learn the angles, and come back sharper on the next run.

Features

  • Control range, tracking, and transversal in readable 2D combat

  • Build Overdrive through clean hits for stacking damage and fire rate

  • Trigger Shield Surge by finishing enemies with direct hits

  • Fit weapons, defenses, and utility modules around your preferred tactics

  • Break enemy tracking with movement, then create your own firing solution

  • Fight through short, reshuffled roguelite runs

Custom Controls, Improved Anomaly Scans & Shield Towers

This update gives you more control over how you fly and makes combat easier to read when a sector gets busy. Remappable controlsKeyboard and controller gameplay controls can now be rebound from Settings. Controller remapping includes analogue actions, so you can swap the sticks used for heading and bearing-based targeting as well as changing buttons.Your bindings appear throughout the HUD, interface tips, and controls screen.Settings can now be opened from the pause screen without resuming the game.Controller navigation at checkpoints has also been improved: flick the stick upward from the upgrade spiral to focus Launch, or hold it to continue navigating upgrades. Orbit anomalies to scan them Anomaly scanning now uses ship movement instead of a passive timer. Orbit through three complete passes in either direction to complete the scan.Completed sections remain secured if you leave the area, while reversing direction drains only the current section. The aim is to make scanning part of flying the ship rather than waiting inside a circle.Scan objectives will also continue calling in defenders when their original formations have been cleared, keeping the area contested while you make progress.Fuller, more varied enemy formationsEnemy pack generation has been rebuilt around complete groups with clearer tactical roles. From Sector 2 onward, packs have 2-5 armed ships, with support ships joining formations where appropriate. Heavier hulls also enter the roster more gradually, while the new composition rules produce better mixes of ships instead of repeatedly building around a single large hull and its escorts. New shield towers From Sector 3 onward, some enemy formations may deploy with a shield tower. These static support structures restore the shields of nearby ships every three seconds, making them a dangerous target to ignore. You can destroy the tower, pull its fleet beyond the pulse radius, or commit enough damage to finish your target before the next burst.

    Improved Procedural Sector Generation

Sectors now have a wider mix of openings and reactions. You might drop into immediate pressure, approach distant contacts on your own terms, or wake their friends by picking the wrong fight first.Reinforcements can respond to what you engage, destroy, or do at the objective. Arrival markers and countdowns appear in the world and on radar, giving you five seconds to reposition.Enemy packs are more focused too. Fast attackers, ranged threats, heavy hitters, and support ships now form clearer tactical groups.Terrain generation also preserves better routes between key parts of the fight. This should add a bit extra variety to every run. Enjoy!
