About this game

Command the office floor as an embattled CEO in a satirical top-down action tower defense. Hire employee towers, build offices, and fight off waves of disgruntled enemy employees each fiscal quarter — then survive the hostile takeover that decides your fate.

Now Hiring: Chief Executive Officer

MegaCorp Holdings LLC is pleased to announce an exciting leadership opportunity for a results-driven executive with a passion for resource allocation, crisis management, and personally surviving the consequences of their own company policy.

Hostile Takeover, Inc. is corporate "leadership" at its most predatory and least competent — and you're holding the wheel.

Prior experience not required. Prior ethics strongly discouraged.

Key Responsibilities

  • Fight on the office floor in person against 18 unique and varied enemy types, as they attempt to resolve themselves against your hit points.

  • Hire from 15 specialized employee towers, including Interns, Engineers, Lawyers, Consultants, Recruiters, Headhunters, and other legally distinct workplace hazards.

  • Manage capital, salaries, promotions, terminations, and the occasional company-wide strike caused by your own payroll decisions.

  • Build offices across five departments to unlock company-wide buffs, grow your Golden Parachute reserves, and paint larger targets on company property.

  • Forecast quarterly threats, prepare your defenses, and survive escalating fiscal years.

  • Defeat the Board of Directors and other gatekeepers, then choose powerful Board Packet initiatives that may or may not be blessings in disguise.

  • Trigger the final hostile takeover, where three brutal waves attack from concentrated fronts and your surviving offices decide your payout.

Executive Authority

Your CEO is not just a cursor in a suit. Your aura of micromanagement damages enemies, collects loot, and buffs nearby towers — forcing you to choose between safe movement and front-line supervision.

Every tower costs capital. Every promotion increases payroll. Every office makes you stronger, richer, and more vulnerable. If your capital drops below zero, your towers go on strike, because even in a satire game, labor demands a steady paycheck.

Compensation & Benefits

MegaCorp offers a competitive Golden Parachute package, payable in proportion to your ability to avoid Chapter 11 Bankruptcy.

Benefits include:

  • Performance-based capital acquisition.

  • Premium corner offices.

  • 25+ professional development opportunities, disguised as level-up choices.

  • Board-approved fiscal-year difficulty escalations.

  • A hostile work environment in the most literal possible sense.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Able to convert panic into policy.

  • Familiarity with tower defense, survivor-like action, and pretending that layoffs are strategy.

  • Willingness to stand inside an aura of executive authority until nearby employees become measurably more productive.

  • Ability to maintain shareholder confidence while everything around you catches fire.

Equal Opportunity Statement

MegaCorp Holdings LLC is an equal opportunity employer, in the sense that all applicants will be equally blamed for systemic failure.

Apply today.

Your desk is ready.

Your employees are not.

* Control mapping and controller support are not available in the demo, but planned for the full release.

    Demo Update v0.7.1

Greetings, CEOs!I'm writing today to let you know of some updates I've made to the current demo build, bringing it to v0.7.1:Changelog:Enemy physics performance - Enemies now skip collision checks when in open space, reducing physics overhead by ~32%. From my benchmark testing, I saw the following improvements:Average FPS +4.3%1% Low FPS +10.9%Worst FPS +18.2%Boss pathfinding improvements - Tweaked the boss' pathfinding logic to reduce (and hopefully eliminate!) the likelihood of it getting stuck on wall edges.Tutorial and description readability - Softened complex corporate jargon throughout the tutorial and important descriptions to improve readability for non-native English speakers.Tutorial tower unlocks - Reduced the number of towers unlocked during the tutorial's final wave from 12 to 4, to reduce initial complexity for new players.Minimap office damage flash - Fixed a bug where office dots on the minimap were not flashing when taking damage.Main menu UI changes - Removed the "Board Priority Memo" flavor text section from the main menu to reduce visual clutter, and cleaned up the Feedback/Wishlist buttons to take up less space. What's Next?At this point the demo build will stay as-is for a little while, as I turn my attention to building out the full release. Aside from all the new and exciting content, I'm planning on supporting:Full Steam Input API for controller support, including remapping controlsSteam AchievementsSteam CloudHopefully Steam Deck support if I can get the performance to be a little betterFor everyone who has played the demo and added the game to your wishlists, thank you so much! I'll speak to you all again in a couple of weeks!— Aleksi, Founder, CEO, and sole employee

    Greetings and Welcome!

Greetings, CEOs!Welcome to the company. Whether you've already played the demo, provided feedback, or just wishlisted and walked away muttering about your own boss — thank you. Truly. A solo dev's most valuable asset is a few people who care, and you're it.For those just joining: Hostile Takeover, Inc. is a satirical top-down action tower defense where you don't just place towers — you play as the CEO, on the office floor. You hire employee towers, build departments, take promotions, and personally fend off waves of disgruntled employees each fiscal quarter, all while your "executive authority" aura buffs your defenses and vacuums up loot. Survive long enough and you'll face the final hostile takeover that decides your fate. Here's what's on the corporate agenda between now and launch: First Order of Business: A Demo UpdateA patch is in the works — performance improvements for large mobs and a round of small bug fixes. It'll be live in the coming weeks, and I'll post a short note here when it's up. On the Horizon: The Full Release (November 2)The demo is a slice. Behind the boardroom doors, the full game adds a lot more to manage: More to hire and fight — the roster grows from 11 to 15 towers and 12 to 18 enemy types, along with 3 new bosses.Promotions galore — a bunch of new upgrades to choose from for level-ups and board packets.Run-based meta-progression — earn the Golden Parachute currency from your runs to permanently unlock new maps, modifiers, perks, and even new playable executives.Full controller support — for armchair CEOs everywhere....and a few details I'm keeping behind an NDA for now. 😉 Between Now and LaunchExpect a steady stream of dev updates here every couple-ish weeks — patch notes, sneak peeks, and the occasional look behind the curtain. We'll also be appearing at Steam Next Fest in October, so there's plenty ahead. In addition, I've established a bluesky account for direct communication: https://bsky.app/profile/consumemoresnacks.bsky.socialFeel ...
