Pro Football Dynasty devlog #2: Playcalling, advanced stats, and personality
DISCLAIMER: All features discussed are in pre-alpha stage and may change during development. All UI should be considered placeholder and may change.Hello again! It's been a bit more than a month since my last devlog, and I've got a ton to show off.Game result pageI've got around to implementing a new and mostly complete game result page. As you can see, that includes some things that are similar to FC:CD, but with some improvements to the look and also some additions. The win probability chart is included, and now you can click on any point in the chart to bring up the play summary dialog for that play. You can also see that weather has been added, and each game now has a broadcast slot, which does adhere to some basic rules, like no team having more than one Thursday night game, and the bigger impact games slotted for Sunday night. You should also notice that each team has different uniforms for home and away!Every game has its complete log stored by default, and lots more info is stored in each play. You can see that each play tracks the win probability change, but also the EPA gained or lost. EPA allows us to do a bunch of cool stuff with advanced stats that I'll get into later. Here's a preview of all the information that's available in each play. This view should look pretty similar to FCCD, but there's a new 'Play Breakdown' table that reveals more of the unseen aspect: like how much pressure was on the QB, how good of a throw did he make, how many reads, how covered the receiver was, and more. I'll be trying to improve this further, but the goal is to give more insight into what happened in a play and why, allowing you to make schematic or personnel changes appropriately.Speaking of personnel, there's also a new view to see the full 11 on 11 view of the play, with all actions visible. You can now see exactly who is covering who, and hover over every player to see their handsome face. I have more plans for this view too, but I'll keep that under wraps for now.....Read full article on Community AnnouncementsAnnouncementsOfficial
Pro Football Dynasty devlog #1 - portraits, schemes, awards and more
DISCLAIMER: All features discussed are in pre-alpha stage and may change during development. All UI should be considered placeholder and may change.Hello all future coaches and GMs! I've previously put devlogs out on my Reddit and Discord (see links at the bottom), but now that we have a full Steam page, It will be great to put devlogs here. I have lots of updates for this one, so let's get right into it.Player and staff portraitsFirst of all, the portrait system is officially feature complete! I've hired a very talented artist to create these pixel-art portraits (by hand, no AI!!) and they delivered over and above my expectations for quality and variety. Each portrait is randomly composed of 20+ layers, from jersey, head, hair, eyes and eyebrows, accessories, hats, eye black, and more. The level of variety here is mind-boggling, with millions of combinations available to ensure each person is their own individual character. This includes players, coaches, GMs, scouts, medical directors, and does include both men and women, with 50 skin tones available to ensure everyone can be represented. Here's a little sneak peak of a few curated portraits that may be familiar... can you recognize everyone here?Player archetypesI've finally got around to implementing first-class player archetypes in Pro Football Dynasty. Some will be familiar to those who've played FC:CD, but some are entirely new. And remember, we have a different set of positions from the college game, so things like EDGE and DT are split and each have their own archetypes to fill. When a player is generated at age 18, an archetype is chosen from a list for that specific position. Then, the player develops throughout their college career, and unlike FC:CD, archetype does impact attribute development (through age 25), so a Gunslinger QB will develop a bit differently from a Dual Threat.Additionally, a player's archetype can change at the start of each season. Imagine a Dual Threat QB; when they are young and spry ...Read full article on Community Announcements
