About this game
Build Your Chess Legacy
Grand Chess Manager: Road to Grandmaster is a chess career and club management simulation where your success is shaped by much more than the next move on the board.
Create your player, begin your journey in the chess world, enter tournaments, improve your skills, and fight your way toward the grandmaster title. At the same time, you are responsible for building a serious chess club: developing players, hiring coaches, managing transfers, balancing finances, upgrading facilities, and making decisions that can define an entire career.
This is a game about long-term progression, pressure, planning, and ambition. Every match matters, but so does every decision you make away from the board.
Create and Develop Your Player
Start your career by creating your own chess player and shaping their path over time. Improve key chess abilities such as opening knowledge, tactics, strategy, calculation, positional understanding, middlegame play, and endgame technique.
Your player’s form, motivation, confidence, stamina, and mental strength all affect performance. A strong career is not built in one tournament. It is built through training, preparation, recovery, and the ability to keep improving after both victories and defeats.
Compete in a Living Chess World
Enter tournaments, climb the rankings, chase ELO milestones, and work your way from smaller events toward major international stages. Follow results, rivalries, news, world rankings, player stories, and important moments across the chess world.
Tournaments are not just isolated matches. They are opportunities to earn money, reputation, experience, and titles. Choose carefully where to compete, how to prepare, and when to take risks.
Manage Your Chess Club
Your club is the foundation of your long-term success. Build a squad, follow player development, manage morale, and decide who deserves a place in your future plans.
Scout promising talent, sign players, handle transfer offers, negotiate salaries, and strengthen your squad season by season. A successful club needs more than one star. It needs depth, structure, and a plan.
Train, Hire Coaches, and Improve Facilities
Hire coaches to improve different areas of your players’ game. Use training systems, tactics puzzles, opening study, endgame work, and long-term development plans to turn potential into results.
Upgrade facilities such as the training complex, youth academy, analysis center, health center, tournament hall, and admin building. Better facilities can improve training speed, youth development, match learning, stamina, sponsorship income, and tournament organization.
Handle the Business Side of Chess
Prize money alone will not keep your club alive. Manage salaries, coach wages, facility maintenance, sponsorship deals, tournament costs, and monthly income.
A bold investment can accelerate your growth, but poor financial planning can create pressure fast. Decide when to spend, when to save, and when the future of the club is worth the risk.
Make Decisions On and Off the Board
You will face more than match results. Player morale, sponsor pressure, transfer opportunities, media attention, academy prospects, facility projects, and unexpected events can all change the direction of your career.
A stronger coach may improve development. A new facility may shape the next generation. A risky tournament may bring prize money and reputation, or expose your weaknesses. Every choice has a cost.
Road to Grandmaster
Grand Chess Manager: Road to Grandmaster is for players who enjoy chess, sports management, career progression, and strategic decision-making.
Train carefully. Spend wisely. Build your club. Trust your players. Chase the grandmaster title and create a chess legacy that lasts.

Dev Diary: The Road to Grandmaster — ELO, Norms and Titles
A rating is only the beginning Every chess career begins with a number. But a number alone does not make a Grandmaster. In Grand Chess Manager: Road to Grandmaster, your personal career is built across seasons of training, tournament choices, difficult opponents, changes in form and the pressure of chasing the next milestone. Today, we want to take a closer look at the systems behind that journey: ELO ratings, title norms and the decisions that connect them. Your rating tells the story of your results Rated games constantly reshape your career. A strong tournament can push you toward a new personal best, while a difficult run can cost points, confidence and momentum. The important decision comes before the first move: where should you compete? The tournament calendar includes events at different levels, from smaller local competitions to national, international and elite stages. Each event can have its own rating range, prestige requirement, prize pool, format and place on the calendar. A safer event may protect your rating and build form. A stronger field may offer more prestige and a better chance to prove yourself, but it also carries greater risk. Your goal is not simply to enter every available tournament. It is to build a calendar that fits your current level, your condition and the next step in your career. Titles require more than grinding ELO Reaching a rating threshold is an important achievement, but the highest titles demand more. The current career system includes rating-based titles as well as norm-based paths for International Master and Grandmaster. To earn the highest titles, a player must reach the required rating and collect three qualifying norms. A norm is not awarded for one lucky victory. The game evaluates your performance across the tournament, the average strength of your opponents and whether the event contains enough games to represent a serious competitive test. This means the road to a title is made of complete tournament performances, ...Read full article on Community Announcements (tristanfermat)AnnouncementsOfficial
Dev Diary: Following 10 League Boards at Once
We are currently working on one of the most important parts of Grand Chess Manager: making club league matches feel like real team events, not just isolated chess games. Grand Chess Manager is not only a chess career game, but also a club management game. Your squad, lineup, training plan, transfers, youth development, finances and long-term strategy should all be reflected on match day. That is why we are developing the simultaneous league match viewer.♟️In this screen, you can follow up to 10 boards at the same time during a team league match. Each board has its own players, clocks, position, opening and match flow. Your own match is clearly marked, while the other boards continue live around you. This helps the league system feel more alive: your club is represented not by a single player, but by the entire squad you have built. The biggest challenge was performance and match stability. Running several chess games at the same time can quickly become heavy if every board works separately. To solve this, we improved the engine flow behind the scenes. Instead of constantly starting new analysis processes, the game now uses a more persistent move-processing system for multi-board matches. This allows the boards to progress more smoothly while keeping the game responsive. We also added fallback behavior. If the strongest engine path is not available, the game can still continue using prepared game data or the built-in AI systems. This is important because we want league matches to remain playable and stable across different player setups. Another challenge was readability. Ten chess boards on one screen can become confusing if the interface is not clear enough. So we focused on making the viewer practical: the player's own board is highlighted, clocks stay visible, board states update live, speed control lets you follow the action faster, and any board can be expanded with a double click when you want to inspect a critical position more closely. This system also conne...Read full article on Community Announcements (tristanfermat)AnnouncementsOfficial
