About this game
The Anchored Hour is a roguelite tower-defense strategy game about defending a displaced royal keep after a mysterious black orb tears the castle into a hostile timeline.
Build up your defenses, scout through fog-covered lands, gather resources, and send your own waves of units down the path to destroy enemy towers, outposts, and the enemy base. Each run pushes the kingdom farther through unstable biomes while relics, upgrades, and hard choices shape how your defenses survive the next assault.
Key Features:
- Tower-defense strategy with an offensive twist: defend your keep while sending your own units into enemy territory.
- Build and upgrade towers, support buildings, collectors, and scouting tools.
- Scout fog-covered maps to reveal resources, threats, and points of interest.
- Fight through enemy towers, outposts, elite enemies, and biome-based pressure.
- Collect relics and upgrades that change your run and support different strategies.
- Manage resources, workers, routes, and timing as each day escalates.
- Designed for replayable runs with different maps, biomes, and build paths.
The game is planned for Early Access, with active development focused on balance, readability, art/audio polish, and expanded content over time.

v0.23.0: Bosses, Echoes & a Major Polish Pass
The Anchored Hour v0.23.0 v0.23.0 is a major presentation, progression, boss, and early-run polish update. Eight new biome finale bosses arrive alongside clearer Echo rewards, more readable tower decisions, stronger early resources, and a wide quality-of-life pass. New Biome Bosses Each biome now culminates in a distinct boss encounter built around its enemy family. Warlord: Commands Humanoid warbands and disrupts nearby towers with Hex Orders.Apex Pack Leader: Drives a fast-moving Beast pack that grows stronger as the hunt continues.Grave King: Raises fallen Undead and returns for a second life through its phylactery.Giant Worm: Alternates between exposed attack windows and burrows that carry it forward along the path.Runic Bastion: Shifts between physical and rune defenses, rewarding the right damage type at the right time.Storm Sovereign: Builds stormfronts across the battlefield that empower Skyborn enemies and pressure exposed towers.Prismatic Avatar: Cycles through elemental forms, changing the damage types that work best against it.Corrupted King: Replays defeated enemies as Timeline Echoes unless Cleansing coverage stops their memories from being stored.New Enemy Threats Raiders Added Raider enemies that break away from the main route to sabotage a chosen tower, collector, or base structure.Structures targeted by Raiders now display a warning marker before the strike lands.Added Raider to Target Focus, letting combat towers prioritize these threats before they reach their target.Raider-damaged structures can be repaired through their normal structure panel, immediately with resources or through worker repair at Dawn. Support & Disruptor Enemies Added Support and Disruptor enemy roles to advanced wave compositions, with dedicated Target Focus options and Incoming Wave labels.Disruptors project short-range tower debuffs. Depending on the enemy, they can reduce nearby tower damage, attack speed, or range.Mixed waves now create stronger priority decisions: remov...Read full article on Community Announcements (hourwispstudio)Patch NotesOfficial
EA v0.22.2 Hotfix - Tutorial and Meta Progression Polish
This hotfix focuses on early-player blockers, tutorial clarity, and first-session progression. Improved tutorial prompt and highlight reliability, especially around early Continue steps and construction menu targets. Added a tutorial note recommending a 16:9 resolution such as 1920x1080 for the smoothest tutorial layout. Added and cleaned up tutorial lessons for Essence, tower upgrades, resources, construction steps, workers, and Torch placement. Fixed tutorial phase handling so automatic Noon progression is less likely to skip later tutorial steps. Improved post-run flow so wins and losses still show the end screen while giving clearer access to Meta Progression. Added enough starter meta currency after the first full win/loss to unlock the first gate. Updated biome unlock flow: Plains opens the route, Forest and Desert branch next, then Tundra and Mountains unlock from those wins. Cleaned up the Meta Progression screen with clearer controls, smoother background, bounded camera movement, and more readable Info text. Fixed keyboard camera panning changing speed while fast-forward is active. Fixed Gatehouse HP upgrades so current HP increases along with max HP. Thanks for the fast bug reports and playtest notes. They directly shaped this hotfix.Read full article on Community Announcements (hourwispstudio)AnnouncementsOfficial
Early Access Roadmap: What I am Working On Next
{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/46168103/69805201ed28758742165ac298daa2348c1d19b7.png Hey everyone, Now that The Anchored Hour is entering Early Access, I wanted to share the broad roadmap for where I plan to take the game next. The Anchored Hour is mostly a solo development effort, so my first focus after launch is stability and player feedback: fixing bugs, improving readability, tuning balance, and making sure the core loop feels better with each update. From there, these are the main areas I want to build toward. Timing and scope may shift as Early Access feedback comes in. Enemy Families 2.0 Enemy variety is one of the biggest areas I want to improve. The goal is to make enemy families feel more distinct from each other, with clearer mechanics, stronger identities, and boss-style threats that change how you prepare and defend. Spells & Active Powers I also want to add more active choices during a run. The current plan is a worker-powered spell system, giving you clutch tools to respond to dangerous moments without replacing the tower defense planning at the heart of the game. Exploration & Events Scouting should become a bigger part of how each run develops. I want to add more points of interest, more map events, and better scouting payoff so exploring the map creates stronger decisions instead of just revealing more space. Towers, Units & Relics More build variety is planned as the game grows. That includes more build paths, more unit and tower options, and more relics that support different strategies. The goal is to make runs feel more varied without adding noise before the core systems are ready for it. Long-Term Challenges Longer term, I want to give players more reasons to keep pushing once the core loop, enemies, and player tools are stronger. This may include harder optional modes, improved stats and run history, and more ways to track progress across runs. Ongoing Support Alongside the bigger updates, I’ll keep working on: Bug fixes Performance UI readability Balan...Read full article on Community Announcements (hourwispstudio)
