About this game
Shunt & Haul: Rail Logistics
Shunt & Haul: Rail Logistics is a realistic railway game focused on shunting, freight transport, and logistics work on the tracks. Take on the role of a train driver and railway operator, control locomotives, form train consists, transport freight wagons, and complete tasks at sidings, stations, and railway routes.

Railway Shunting
Shunting is the core of the gameplay. It involves precise wagon movement, forming train sets, and operating station tracks. Players will perform tasks typical of work at sidings, freight stations, and industrial areas.
Your duties will include coupling wagons, placing them on the correct tracks, assembling consists, and preparing trains for further routes.
Freight Transport
Freight transport plays an important role in the game. Players will move wagons between logistics points, industrial facilities, terminals, warehouses, and sidings.
Each transport task will require proper preparation of the train, choosing the right locomotive, and completing the job efficiently. It is not just about driving from point A to point B, but about managing the entire process of railway logistics.

Roadmap
The game is being developed in stages, with future updates adding new locomotives, wagons, scenarios, maps, industrial facilities, signals, electrification, AI traffic, and passenger transport. From simple freight wagon shunting, through siding and depot operations, to more advanced railway logistics — Shunt & Haul: Rail Logistics lets players experience the atmosphere of everyday railway work.
Loading and Unloading
In future development stages, the game will be expanded with loading and unloading systems. Players will operate freight wagons at industrial facilities, ramps, warehouses, and transshipment points.
Loading operations will become an important part of logistics work — from positioning wagons in the correct place, through waiting for service, to preparing the train for further movement.

Locomotives
The base locomotive is the SM40. The game will feature diesel and electric locomotives inspired by real railways. Planned rolling stock includes machines such as the TEM2, SM42, LEW EL2, and EU07.
Each locomotive will have its own purpose — from light shunting, through heavier siding work, to operating trains on longer routes.
Freight and Passenger Wagons
Players will operate various types of wagons, including freight wagons designed for cargo transport and passenger coaches planned for later development stages.
A diverse rolling stock selection will allow players to create more advanced consists and complete tasks related to both freight logistics and future passenger services.

Railway Signals and Traffic Control
The game will include railway signals, shunting signals, and traffic control elements. Their purpose will be to increase realism and organize movement at stations and on railway routes.
The signalling system will be developed gradually to introduce more realistic railway traffic rules over time.
Electrification
Future updates are planned to add electric railway infrastructure, including overhead wires and electric locomotives. Electrification will open the way for new route types, tasks, and rolling stock.
This will allow the gameplay to evolve from simple diesel shunting to more advanced operation of electric railway consists.
Locomotive Depot and Servicing
Players will be able to use a locomotive depot, where rolling stock can be prepared, serviced, and configured. This feature will help capture the atmosphere of railway back-end operations and everyday locomotive work.
Mechanics related to servicing, vehicle selection, and rolling stock management are also planned.
Buying and Renting Locomotives
The game will include a system for buying and renting locomotives. Players will be able to expand their fleet, choose vehicles suited to specific tasks, and gradually increase the capabilities of their railway operation.
This will add an economic and logistics element to the gameplay, where managing rolling stock will be just as important as driving trains.
AI Traffic
AI traffic is planned for future development stages to bring the game world to life. Other trains and railway vehicles will move around the map, creating a more realistic working environment.
AI traffic will require players to pay attention to the track situation, signalling, and traffic organization.

Passenger Transport
In addition to freight transport, passenger services are also planned for the future. Players will be able to operate passenger trains, stop at stations, and complete tasks related to transporting people.
This feature will expand the gameplay and allow players to experience the railway not only from the perspective of freight logistics, but also everyday passenger service.

Development update #3
Things have been a little quieter since our last update. We know that what you enjoy seeing the most is visible progress — new locations, vehicle models, buildings, railway sidings, and other new elements of the world of Shunt & Haul: Rail Logistics. This time, however, most of the work we completed was not particularly impressive in screenshots. Over the past few weeks, we have focused primarily on the technical side of the project. We have been working on game optimization, map performance, improving the operation of individual systems, and organizing the elements that will form the foundation for further development. This kind of work is often not immediately visible, but it has a major impact on the game’s stability, the smoothness of gameplay, and our ability to add more features in the future.Recently, we have focused on the following areas:UI developmentmission systemimplementation of the game’s audiowagon coupling mechanics, braking system, improved vehicle physics, visual effects for wagons, new visual elements of the map,new loading and unloading locations, optimizationWe have also been improving existing mechanics, resolving identified issues, and preparing the project for the next stages of production. We want future elements to be more than just good-looking additions — they should work together as part of a coherent and stable system. This does not mean that visual development has stopped. New elements of the game world are being created in parallel, but we want to show them only when they are properly polished and truly ready to be presented.Thank you for your patience, your messages, and your interest in the project. We read your comments, and we are delighted to see that so many of you are waiting for more information. The next DEV NEWS will show you much more! :)See you soon!M4Games Shunt & Haul: Rail LogisticsRead full article on Community Announcements (Semir GAMING)Patch NotesOfficial
Developer update #2
Recently, we have focused primarily on expanding the railway infrastructure and preparing the foundations for a new, large map that is currently being designed and built. This is one of the larger stages of work on Shunt & Haul: Rail Logistics, as it affects both the look of the game world and future logistics gameplay.New railway infrastructureWe are working on a more complex track layout that will allow for more interesting shunting, the operation of sidings, passing loops, and larger loading areas. New infrastructure sections are being designed with the goal of making gameplay less linear and giving players more opportunities to plan locomotive work.As part of this work, we are creating, among other things:new track layouts, expanded industrial sidings, stabling and shunting tracks, loading infrastructure, railway traffic control elements. We want players not only to drive a train, but to truly feel that they are operating a living railway-logistics system.New large map in productionThe biggest element of the current stage of development is the new map. It will be much larger and more varied than the current test areas. We are designing it to combine several different types of infrastructure: from forest areas and bridges, through industrial sidings, to larger track layouts. The map is still in the design phase, so the track layout, object placement, and environment may still change. However, we are already testing the first sections, including river crossings, forest routes, and industrial areas with freight wagons. Our goal is to create a map that will properly support the core ideas of the game: shunting, freight transport, siding operations, and railway work planning.New objects and modelsNew objects are also being added to the game to help build the atmosphere of railway infrastructure. These include signal boxes, level crossing elements, signalling equipment, and technical trackside structures. We are paying special attention to details such as:semaphore signals an...Read full article on Community Announcements (Semir GAMING)AnnouncementsOfficial
Developer news #1
We are starting a series of developer diaries in which we will show the current progress on Shunt & Haul. We want to regularly share what is being created behind the scenes — from new objects and models, through railway infrastructure elements, to the expansion of locations and mechanics related to train consist operations.Recently, we have mainly focused on developing the industrial and railway facilities, which you can see in the screenshots below.Locomotive depot and turntableAn important element is the locomotive depot with a turntable. This location will serve as a facility for locomotives and is intended to become one of the more distinctive points on the map.Sawmill and loading yardOne of the larger areas we are working on is the industrial zone related to timber. New storage yards, stacks of wood, loading elements and track infrastructure have been added, allowing freight wagons to be handled.Bridges and railway infrastructureWe are also working on new models of railway bridges. The structures shown are part of a larger infrastructure set that will allow us to build more varied sections of railway routes.Bridges, viaducts and crossings are meant to give routes more character and make travelling between loading points, stations and industrial facilities more varied.Signage and world detailsWe are also creating a set of signage and small environmental details for the map. These are elements that may seem minor at first, but they strongly affect how the entire location feels and add realism.Speed limits, signs and technical elements will help build a more realistic game world and organize the railway infrastructure. What’s next?In future posts, we will show more elements of the developing map, new models, visual improvements and the development of mechanics related to transport and train consist operations. The materials shown come from a work-in-progress version of the game, so some elements may still change. Even so, we wanted to show you what we are currently ...Read full article on Community Announcements (Semir GAMING)
