About this game

All those cities. Endless ways to build.
Design, expand, and optimize underground transit systems inspired by real-world metro and subway networks. Each region brings a new layout and a different way to build. Expand through dense city cores, cross rivers and coastlines, manage commuter demand, and keep your network moving as each city starts to push back.
Take on different network challenges across Berlin, Hong Kong, New York, Moscow, Paris, Tokyo, London, Shanghai, Rio de Janeiro, Singapore, Toronto, and Seoul.

Design the system.
Create stations, draw routes, connect districts, and shape your metro network as the city grows. Every line you build affects passenger flow, travel time, congestion, and the long-term efficiency of your system.

Rush hour fights back.
Passenger demand keeps rising. Stations get crowded, weak routes start to fail, and delays spread across the network. Redesign lines, add capacity, and keep the city moving before the system breaks.
Features
Build, expand, optimize, redesign, panic-fix, and somehow keep your metro moving during rush hour. It gets chaotic fast, in a good way!
Multiple gameplay styles: play casually and grow your dream network, optimize every line for maximum efficiency, or push your system to the limit under constant passenger pressure.
Design your metro your way: create stations, shape routes, manage transfers, and expand your network across evolving city layouts.
Build across region-inspired cities and metro systems, each with different layouts, pacing, and infrastructure challenges.
Dynamic passenger growth and changing network demands mean every playthrough develops differently. The perfect layout in one game might collapse completely in the next.
Watch your metro evolve into a living system of colorful lines, dense interchanges, and moving trains, turning every map into its own transport diagram.
Real-world-inspired train models, infrastructure, and station designs based on underground and commuter rail systems.
Trains. A lot of them. Probably still not enough during rush hour.

v0.1.116B final stage: 6 new maps, 2 languages, Workshop & more!
v0.1.116B is now in its final stage!First of all, thank you for continuing to play Metro Architect and for sharing your feedback with us. We are currently completing the final stability testing for v0.1.116B. As soon as the build is confirmed to be stable and free of major issues, it will become v0.1.117.Ukrainian and Italian language support + 6 new maps Metro Architect is expanding with full Ukrainian and Italian language support, together with six new maps:• Krakow, Poland • Rome, Italy • Istanbul, Turkey • Copenhagen, Denmark • Lisbon, Portugal • Kyiv, UkraineMore stable progression and economy We fixed progression issues that could affect some maps and improved the economy across all maps. Normal game modes should now provide a more consistent and predictable progression, with fewer situations where the economy can become unexpectedly difficult or unbalanced.Major 3D mode performance improvements Optimization work across map rendering and texturing has produced improvements of up to 31 FPS in our testing. This helps the game maintain a stable 60 FPS across larger networks and a wider range of devices. Tunnel visibility in 3D mode has also been improved, making underground sections easier to follow.Internal Workshop framework One of the most important additions in this update is the new internal Workshop framework. It creates a modular foundation that will allow future add-ons and optional systems to be activated much more easily inside the game. This framework is designed to support map improvements, customization options, add-ons, different visual styles and other extensions without forcing them into the core experience for every player. One of the first systems built on top of it is a new depot management system for players who want more control over operations. Please keep in mind that depot management intentionally adds more complexity and is still being tested. This is not Steam Workshop support yet. However, the same foundation also makes future Steam Wor...Read full article on Community Announcements (wk)AnnouncementsOfficial
New 2D map engine is now available in Beta!
The new map engine for 2D mode is now available in Beta!First of all, thank you for playing Metro Architect. We continue to improve the game based on your feedback, even though we do not announce every smaller update here. To share your suggestions or discuss the game with us, you can join our Discord server. Important! The game will stop supporting previous 2D Engine in the following weeks. You can still access and play your saves at the moment. However, we recommend you to try out updated engine available in creative mode.About the Update This update introduces improved map behaviour, more detailed zoom levels, and a deeper simulation in which station placement, passenger demand, network coverage, and ticket prices all affect the performance of your transport network.Geographic passenger demand Passenger demand is based on areas of each city. Population density, commuting activity, landmarks, major destinations, and daily travel patterns all influence where and when demand appears. You can preview demand hour by hour directly on the map and build your network around how the city changes throughout the day.More meaningful station placement Station placement now has a much greater impact. Passengers are simulated walking from their origins, following nearby streets and buildings, accounting for obstacles such as rivers, and choosing stations they can realistically access. Before placing a station, you can now preview:• Expected passenger demand • Newly covered areas • Overlap with nearby stations • Walking distancesCatchment competition Nearby stations can compete for and share the same passengers. The map tracks potential, served, unserved, and shared demand, making station spacing and network coverage much more important.Better fare behaviour Passengers respond dynamically to ticket prices. Set fares too high and fewer passengers will be willing to travel. Price them appropriately and ridership can grow. You can track expected revenue, service reputation, and the ...Read full article on Community Announcements (wk)Patch NotesOfficial
