A old-school top-down dungeon crawler where you explore and fight through the gardens of an old, abandoned castle. The game starts off simple, with new mechanics and more complicated room layouts being added as you go.

About this game

Blooming Winter is a simple top-down dungeon crawler (I think that's the correct term here?) game, where you explore the gardens of a seemingly abandoned castle. The game starts off being linear in nature, though it then changes to allow you to choose the order you complete challenges in non-linearly. As of right now, the game only contains 2 areas, and one of those is the tutorial. I'll be adding a few more areas to the game throughout Early Access, and once that's done I'll hopefully have something better to write here!

    September Update

    - Updated Boss Fight music - Created unique music for Gardens sub-levels different from main track - Added 2(?) new rooms Note: The first new room is buggy as hell, and I had to remove player HP in that room to stop it from game over-ing instantly. Haven't been able to figure it out yet, hopefully I can fix it before the next update, just letting you know that the room is not meant to be that boring and will be better soon. :) Also, the updates so far have added... not much. So for the next one I'll be trying to focus on actually adding content rather than just minor tweaks. Granted, I'll have much less time from now on, so... well, we'll see what happens. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

    August Update!

    - Added new area after Gardens: Arboretum (Disclaimer, I've only made a couple rooms so far 😅) - Fixed game over music not playing in the Gardens - Added music to Gardens boss fight - Added new glowing effect to room exits in areas where they might be unclear - Added text indicating what button to press to use the scythe after getting it - Decreased difficulty in Gardens area to fix massive difficulty spike - Made it so objects that are breakable with the scythe are outlined in red - Changed floor texture in the room where you get the scythe Btw since it never actually says the names of the areas I'm referring to in-game, for future reference the first area is the "Tutorial Area", the second is the "Gardens", and the third is the "Arboretum". The switch between areas is marked by seeing that mysterious tree that may or may not be a Deltarune reference :) I might add text in-game at some point, both to give it some lore and to give the areas proper names outside of these patch notes 😅 Also, wanted to mention that for some reason you can't swing the scythe while moving up-left, but only if you're moving with the arrow keys??? And it works just fine if you use WASD??? I can't for the life of me figure out how to fix it so sorry ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Just know that if it bothers you you can switch to WASD :)
